So, pitching huh.

I've been using pulse for years, and it's been by far the most consistent for a long time. I'm glad they are taking the pulse pitching approach and applying it to the other pitching input methods.
Pulse is the one input method they've figured out how to code consistently, so this is good news for all other input types. FINALLY
Interesting I actually never tried pulse.

It's literally a circle that shows the area the ball can go (PAR). The better your timing window, the smaller the circle. Unless you are very low on energy, the ball will go somewhere in the circle.
-
Why does SDS vertically rank the pitches for each pitcher by usage, and not quality of stuff or command plus-like ratings? I say this because if the PAR is larger as you go down the pitch list like the DeGrom visual , i would argue that their accuracy/precision should be based on command and not usage percentage

Something to also keep in mind when thinking like this is, based off of visual one has to assume that was what it looks like when first choosing said pitch.
I'm pretty sure pitch confidence plays a part in PAR someway or another which would indicate the better you throw the pitch perhaps accuracy changes too?

I've never used pulse either but after seeing the stream I was fooling around with pitching in 20 and tried it. I found it odd at the start but I used a cadence when pitching like counting to 5 and releasing as was getting good pitches almost everytime. Weird how I've never tried that before

Take out all rng please. This stream was gross. They showed nothing about hitting, and basically showed how crazy rng is on pitching is even when you get a perfect release.
Yah RNG is bs. If you barely miss you hoop or meter it shouldn’t be a hanger..... those are reserved for bad misses. These clowns can’t understand it
-
@a_perfectgame said in So, pitching huh.:
I get what you guys are saying but I’m good with an area the pitch ends up rather then just lobbing it down the middle. Pitchers don’t locate EXACTLY where they want and imo this is still skill based for sure.
They don’t , but if you have a perfect release we are talking about - few inches not feet

In the beta when you missed you missed all over not a hanger down the middle which was good. Like if I wanted a ball low and outside and I missed my meter it might go way outside or inside but not down the middle of the plate. I feel like that’s a fair fix.

Is this true? I never gave Pulse pitching a sniff. I still use Meter, although inconsistent like crazy. Never liked Analog, although the best players use it.

Actually, 20 is the year I switched from pulse to analog. Pulse was great for years but not in 20. Your pitch doesn’t necessarily end up in the circle, but as far as the outside of the ball touching the outside of the circle. That’s a pretty error margin.

Legit, they're basically showing how much wiggle room they have to manipulate the pitch. Covering their butts for later when ppl complain they can reference this BS gray area. @colinsds
They're justifying the product they put out in 20. The whole stream was based on there "data" they came up with to just justify the trash they put out last year
I can’t believe I am actually agreeing with Tyrus. They didn’t “fix” pitching at all. They simply justified gravity balls.
I also find it very telling that suddenly analog pitching is the LEAST accurate method.
I know those of you who pitch with meter will be happy about this but I urge you to actually consider WHY the method that was previously universally accepted as the MOST accurate, is now the least.
-
As we all know, pitchers with pinpoint control never, ever, ever miss a pitch.

So let me get this right you are saying that analog is the most universally used style b/c of accuracy? But you make a statement regarding the changes are to justify gravity balls? Isn't that a contradiction?
I have always thought meter was way more acurate and less forgiving than analog up until pinpoint pitching, meter was actually the most accurate not near as many meatballs i hear about from analog users. Imo

Not talking about misses, we are talking about having perfect input and the ball randomly going anywhere within about a third of the strike zone (going by the graphic they showed in stream).
-
I am saying analog used to be considered to offer the most control over pitch outcomes. Obviously the input has to be there. Just do a search on here or anywhere for that matter.
Nobody was saying, “use meter pitching if you want to git gud”.

Its not the least, it’s third best, the best version is now the upgraded version of analog (the previous best) and meter remains second best. They also spoke on why meter is second most accurate because it has the highest risk/reward rate when over and under throwing.

Is this true? Why would I lie? LOL.
Yes, there is a circle that Pulses (hence the name). The smaller the circle, the better the accuracy. No matter what, the ball will end up inside that circle (big or small).
The better the confidence of the pitcher, and the higher the bb/9 and control, the smaller the circle is to start, and the slower it pulses.
In 21, they are simply applying pulse pitching to all input types because....pulse has always been the best (Despite trolls arguing with me for two years here).

As I said in another thread, pulse was best before 20. Now the area included the outside of the circle meeting the outside of the ball. They probably nerfed it because it was too easy, even though it seemed like a pretty well kept secret.

I don't have any issues with it this year either. I"m glad their moving all pitching to the pulse platform, everyone will finally stop complaining (Even though it's their own fault for refusing to use it).

You might be into something I’m sick of seeing “perfect release” low and away that ends up high middle. Pitching is by far the biggest issue with 20.
