Did anyone else notice how huge the PaR for a DeGrom fastball on HoF would be with analog (or even meter really). Pretty much makes this a choice between pinpoint or classic.
-
Take out all rng please. This stream was gross. They showed nothing about hitting, and basically showed how crazy rng is on pitching is even when you get a perfect release.

Legit, they're basically showing how much wiggle room they have to manipulate the pitch. Covering their butts for later when ppl complain they can reference this BS gray area. @colinsds

Seriously. Take that degrom HoF fastball PAR and move its center to up and in vs Rickey. With perfect analog input the ball could be anywhere from the middle of the plate to Rickey’s ear hole.

I get what you guys are saying but I’m good with an area the pitch ends up rather then just lobbing it down the middle. Pitchers don’t locate EXACTLY where they want and imo this is still skill based for sure.
-
At least it gives you boundaries, so you'll know more or less where the pitch will end up in and hopefully that will limit the down the middle magnet meatballs. Hopefully.

Did you see the size of the PAR for degrom’s “x” pitch? How big will his curve or change be?

I don't remember, no

Make a 3 x 3 grid of beer cans.
So many people expect any pitcher to knock out one specific beer can with good timing and release.
Before today's stream, I could aim at the center beer can, have perfect timing and not touch a can 1 out of 10 times.
These are welcomed changes and are on par with the input mechanic being used.

The options are Pin Point, Meter, and Analog for the PAR mechanic not classic. Not calling you out just clarrifying classic is a sub category once pitch style has been chosen alot of new users and just pointing it out.

I’m aware. I’m just saying with the variance with perfect analog input is so vast that you might as well just use classic.

and what i'm saying is for instance i myself use Meter with classic and still get PAR. Using Classic only if that is even an option you will not see the PAR feature in competitive.

They're justifying the product they put out in 20. The whole stream was based on there "data" they came up with to just justify the trash they put out last year

I've been using pulse for years, and it's been by far the most consistent for a long time. I'm glad they are taking the pulse pitching approach and applying it to the other pitching input methods.
Pulse is the one input method they've figured out how to code consistently, so this is good news for all other input types. FINALLY

Interesting I actually never tried pulse.

It's literally a circle that shows the area the ball can go (PAR). The better your timing window, the smaller the circle. Unless you are very low on energy, the ball will go somewhere in the circle.

Why does SDS vertically rank the pitches for each pitcher by usage, and not quality of stuff or command plus-like ratings? I say this because if the PAR is larger as you go down the pitch list like the DeGrom visual , i would argue that their accuracy/precision should be based on command and not usage percentage

Something to also keep in mind when thinking like this is, based off of visual one has to assume that was what it looks like when first choosing said pitch.
I'm pretty sure pitch confidence plays a part in PAR someway or another which would indicate the better you throw the pitch perhaps accuracy changes too?

I've never used pulse either but after seeing the stream I was fooling around with pitching in 20 and tried it. I found it odd at the start but I used a cadence when pitching like counting to 5 and releasing as was getting good pitches almost everytime. Weird how I've never tried that before

Yah RNG is bs. If you barely miss you hoop or meter it shouldn’t be a hanger..... those are reserved for bad misses. These clowns can’t understand it
