A LOT of talk about letting offline stats count towards prestiging cards. So I did some research last night.

I prestiged 7 cards this year (all pitchers):
    Paxton
    Gallegos
    Anderson
    Felix
    Oswalt
    Feller
    Rivera

I then went and looked at my offline stats, added them to my online stats, and see if they'd have made a difference.

Cards I would have prestiged if Offline counted:
    Hendricks
    Maddux
    Snider

Cards I was only a category or 2 off from prestiging if offline counted:
    Chipper
    Gregorious
    Helton
    Mantle

Now, if we knew going in that offline stats counted, that DEFINTELY would have affected lineup construction. But as it is, not counting online stats ended up not making much of a difference.

what offline prestiging will do though is lead to immortals situation again where I personally remember having frank thomas play SS because I needed certain stats with 1st basemen. I'm not against the idea of prestiging offline I may even make it a different situation like green diamond prestiged offline and red diamond online just to make them different and let people know ok this guy mindlessly grinded vs worked all year/asked for stats in events

i like the idea of offline prestiging, but make the stats double the online stats or something where its not AS easy to get, but also dont mix stats.. make it kind of like player programs where you can do XX number of online this or XX number of it offline, but dont let any offline count towards the online

    Remove prestige all together imo.

Bring back My Career missions, add players to those missions as rewards.

I don't know why I never thought of this before, but the option to prestige your player offline but then only be able to use that card offline would be cool. You could have Online Prestige and Offline Prestige stats. Online counts for both but Offline only counts for the offline version and can't be used in online play. It wouldn't be two separate cards, just an icon on the card like No Sell after you collect it.

if you increase the stats needed offline to prestige, id still make them available to use online. If you grind it out and earn it you should be able to use it either way.

Yes, if people are so bothered by players obtaining good cards from grinding CPU on rookie, then yeah do this. Me I just personally hate playing people online, and want to be able to get any card I want without having to play people.

I think it’s funny how predominantly online players say that offline players don’t need prestige cards to use against the CPU because the 3 point increases don’t matter that much anyway.....Then they turn around and say they don’t want to play prestige cards that have been earned by grinding offline. Does it really matter that much online if it wouldn’t matter offline?

It’s not that I care how my opponent acquires their cards, it’s that the game plays so wonky online. It can be very difficult to beat ANYone at the AS level, not to speak of players wielding prestige cards.

Knowing that a player earned the prestige card online makes it easier to take when you give up early home runs on poor placement.

why not? I play offline and I'd like the opportunity to get players prestiged offline. I will never use them online because I don't play online but at least it gives me more to do as an offline player.

I already deleted my Plus auto renewal until I see how this will work but if I can build a team with players I want (which is all I buy the game for) then Ill do so offline...

I am not a good player but when I play online I got people bunting every at bat, plus pausing every 3 seconds its not pleasant for me as an ok player

Yeah, it’s particularly bad in the 400-600 range. I’d like to think above that rank there is considerably less cheese but I could be wrong.

Especially considering that people who grind vs the CPU for cards are weak players, which is why they play vs CPU. A good online player knows that it's about using cards that you are good with not just using the best cards. Give me a God squad and put me up against any top player and let them only choose gold or less and they will beat me 10 out of 10 times.

Very true. Take KevinGohd for example. He is a very talented player. If you give him the best statistic players, he does not perform as well with those cards as he does with his usual team. Even though some of those cards on his current team are not "GodSquad" worthy cards. Its all about comfort. I had a better avg with mcutchin than i do currently with machado.😒

how are offline players 'weak' players? most of us don't play online because of the bs and win at all costs mentality. i want to play someone baseball, not run around the bases and bunt dance. that makes me a bad online player?

I don't think they meant it as all encompasing, but a lot of people dont play online much and often it's because they're not 'good'. "Weak" is just poor word choice.
Im sure there are alot of really good offline players who can compete online quite well. People with Ruth/Gehrig for instance who barely play online, are probably pretty decent. Obviously, not everyone but online vs offline is quite different, even as the same difficulty level. Dealing with the yahoos and not letting it get to you is a skill good online players have too... I can beat up the CPU on HOF 95% of the time and all star 99.9% of the time, but my win % online on all star is closer to 70%. Online players are much harder than the CPU, even if I win more often than not.
