It’s not that I care how my opponent acquires their cards, it’s that the game plays so wonky online. It can be very difficult to beat ANYone at the AS level, not to speak of players wielding prestige cards.
Knowing that a player earned the prestige card online makes it easier to take when you give up early home runs on poor placement.
-
ya i thought you can only prestige online but hope they let you do it offline next year

why not? I play offline and I'd like the opportunity to get players prestiged offline. I will never use them online because I don't play online but at least it gives me more to do as an offline player.

I already deleted my Plus auto renewal until I see how this will work but if I can build a team with players I want (which is all I buy the game for) then Ill do so offline...
I am not a good player but when I play online I got people bunting every at bat, plus pausing every 3 seconds its not pleasant for me as an ok player

Yeah, it’s particularly bad in the 400-600 range. I’d like to think above that rank there is considerably less cheese but I could be wrong.

Especially considering that people who grind vs the CPU for cards are weak players, which is why they play vs CPU. A good online player knows that it's about using cards that you are good with not just using the best cards. Give me a God squad and put me up against any top player and let them only choose gold or less and they will beat me 10 out of 10 times.

Very true. Take KevinGohd for example. He is a very talented player. If you give him the best statistic players, he does not perform as well with those cards as he does with his usual team. Even though some of those cards on his current team are not "GodSquad" worthy cards. Its all about comfort. I had a better avg with mcutchin than i do currently with machado.

how are offline players 'weak' players? most of us don't play online because of the bs and win at all costs mentality. i want to play someone baseball, not run around the bases and bunt dance. that makes me a bad online player?

I don't think they meant it as all encompasing, but a lot of people dont play online much and often it's because they're not 'good'. "Weak" is just poor word choice.
Im sure there are alot of really good offline players who can compete online quite well. People with Ruth/Gehrig for instance who barely play online, are probably pretty decent. Obviously, not everyone but online vs offline is quite different, even as the same difficulty level. Dealing with the yahoos and not letting it get to you is a skill good online players have too... I can beat up the CPU on HOF 95% of the time and all star 99.9% of the time, but my win % online on all star is closer to 70%. Online players are much harder than the CPU, even if I win more often than not. -

I think there are a lot of players like you, but the question becomes, why do you need to “prestige” those cards?
Other than sheer completionism, I see no reason why prestiged cards are relevant vs the cpu.

I don't know why I never thought of this before, but the option to prestige your player offline but then only be able to use that card offline would be cool. You could have Online Prestige and Offline Prestige stats. Online counts for both but Offline only counts for the offline version and can't be used in online play. It wouldn't be two separate cards, just an icon on the card like No Sell after you collect it.
Yes, if people are so bothered by players obtaining good cards from grinding CPU on rookie, then yeah do this. Me I just personally hate playing people online, and want to be able to get any card I want without having to play people.
Ty glad i aint the only one who sees playing online is trash! I personally play All star or higher offline i have WAY more fun than online it actually feels like baseball!
All i witness in online is pure garbage from crappy pitching to stacked bunt teams or my favorite the guy who set his whole lineup to get your team to shift right every batter and btw so easy to counter! Very un-original. So many more reasons i could list.

And for the most part they aren’t relevant vs people either, it’s 3 points to stats and no way equivalent to getting immortals in 18. Arguably, it is harder (more time consuming) to prestige a card on rookie at Coors than it was to prestige them in events begging for stats.

What if somebody wants to play offline against an extra innings team they have prestiged players in thier lineup but your told you cant have them b/c you play offline but you still have to face them?
Moments are considered offline right? So why can't the players that play offline have the same oppurtunity to have a prestiged team when things like Moment Extreme comes out?
There is a feature for offline players to play against people on leaderboards they have prestiged players in thier lineups but again the offline player doesn't?
So if we are stat tracking our players offline they become skewed b/c we don't have same oppurtunity to field best players?
And i assure you SDS is working very diligently to make AI alot smarter i noticed a huge difference in 20 vs 19 as far as CPU being alot more competitive making for alot of close games. More strategic how you approach game as well. Like i said 10x more fun than MP.
Or what about the person who is playing offline waiting to play online until all the MP bugs are sorted out b4 thay jump into mp?Their not allowed same oppurtunity to prestige thier cards b/c they had enough forsight to wait to play MP?
So yeah everyone deserves to have prestiged cards regardless if online or offline as well!

Sounds to me that the issue is leaning more towards the rarity of card for "Braggin Rights."
-
Prestiging online actually changes how I play online. Pitcher yesterday was 7 innings away from prestige, got kicked around a bit early but I left him in to try to get those 7 innings. He didn't actually give up any more runs and completed the 7 innings, but I doubt I would have left him in if I wasn't only 7 innings away from that goal. The prestige missions actually do sort of encourage approaching the game in a non-tactical way, to try to get them completed, and that's weird given how tough online play is compared to playing the computer at the same difficulty level! I think most of my online DD games are supposed to be at AS given the ratings of my squad and my opponents, but it's so much tougher than AS against the cpu.
Separate point, but all of my prestige pitchers are performing statistically worse than their normal card versions, I will blame myself and assume that I'm not as desperate pitching with those versions now that the prestige goal has been completed.

It’s more a comment on how the game plays online than anything. There is no question of being “deserving” of this or that card.
I don’t like when the game decides where my pitch is going to go and, invariably, those are the times when an unlikely home run seems to happen.
More often than not, this is because a juiced card is hitting. When my opponent flails all game and can’t hit a fastball or sinker in the zone, but suddenly perfects the hung slider, it is hard to take.
My feeling is that this is the likely outcome of facing offline prestiged cards online.
