In an otherwise total dog [censored] year, this game has been my escape. I’ve had to work straight through the virus as an essential worker and the stress and anxiety of finding out someone you work closely with got a positive test is impossible to understate. I haven’t seen my friends or family in person since February. Through it all I’ve sunk literally days of my life into this game and despite the RS rage fits and hanging changeups it is just so much frickin fun. I look forward to the Inning program live streams literally for days to find out who the new bosses are. I get excited like a 12 year old (I’m 31) when they release cards of my favorite players. I’ve got a stacked team and haven’t spent a dime since I bought the game.
I know you folks at SDS read these posts sometimes and I hope you read this one. I’m sure it’s been challenging for you guys to adapt to working in 2020 and not being able to use the office and working from home. Despite the toxicity on these forums, you guys are doing a great job. Please fix the pitching, but otherwise, you guys rock.
If my wife reacted to anything the way I react to this game I’d have serious questions about my life choices. And yet she continue to give me full reign over the tv whenever I want it. I snagged a good one.
I'm sorry your mother didn't love you enough.
Is this just me? Ever since the patch I can’t hit AT ALL. I started off RS 12-0 and am 5-7 in my last 12. Aside from a weird fluke game where I hit 6 HRs, I can’t hit worth a darn anymore. It’s a shame because I was having the time of my life when the game first (pre) released.
Last few weeks it feels like I'm swinging a pool noodle. Balls with near perfect PCI placement and good timing just dying on the warning track like 5 or 6 times per game. It's like playing 19 again. Mickey Mantle in particular cannot drive a ball to the opposite field, PERIOD.
I'm the manager of a Grocery department, at the Grocery chain you've probably made fun of for being bougie and too expensive that's now owned by Amazon.

I'M IN BOYS, IM FINALLY IN!!!!!!!
It was about as cheap as humanely possible, but I'll take it.
Game 1- He starts prestige DeGrom, I've got prestige Bauer on the mound. I load the bases in the first, Griffey smashes a center cut fastball and I think I'm about to take a 4-0 lead.... annnnnd then it dies at the warning track. My opponent was in full blown toxic mode with Cobb, Brock, and Mondesi at the top of the order bunting at every opportunity. In the 3rd or 4th inning he gets a cheap, wall scraper HR with Foxx and of course does a full replay. I'm not playing great, not playing terrible either, can't get rewarded and now he's dotting with full-confidence DeGrom. Still, I'm definitely hitting better than he is and I know all I need is one hit to change the whole game, and with DeGrom pulled after 5 I'm still 100% in this game.
Top 6, the game freezes and I get the disconnect W. It's really lame, but after taking a disconnect L in my last WS play-in game, I don't feel that bad.
Next game, I matchup with a Top 50 player who was like 350-150. I just laugh and figure I'll try and not get mercied. I've won a handful of games against players like this, so I tell myself to focus up and maybe I'll somehow manage to squeak out a win. I don't offer a friendly because I just don't out of principle. And then second pitch, he offers a friendly and I swear I broke the sound barrier smashing the accept button.
Third game, still my WS play-in game. I get matched up at home against a guy with a sub-.500 record. I know the only way he's above 700 with a sub-.500 record is probably because he quits as soon as something doesn't go his way. The fact that he had 1.000+ OPS's with every batter seems to confirm this for me. I tell myself to focus up and score early, and he's probably gone.
I set him down 1-2-3 in the top of the first. Bottom first, I lead off with a double with Trout. I think he either misplayed it or was using a different fielder than he expected because he took a weird route to the ball. Regardless, it probably would've landed anyway, I was yelling at my monitor that it should've been a HR because the PCI was smack in the middle and I was on the early side of good.
The ball hops over the wall, and I get the "lost connection with opponent" screen.
907 rating boys. Second time ever and first time this year. I'll be cracking open a beer as soon as I finish typing.
Who do I take with my pack?
They cannot do away with it fast enough... it’s almost always trash players who watch it after a lucky hanger down the pipe. I’ve made a point not to watch a single one, it’s just such a dumb delay in the game.
Looking for it for custom practice. I know someone made one that has two teams containing all the DD cards but don't remember what to search for.
I’m not at all disappointed this card is gonna be insane, I’m happy to smack nukes all day against anyone hating on it
@pfcorporate_psn said in Anyone think the big collection is Pujols?:
Possible they do a program for pujols. They did that for ichiro and somebody else who I can’t remember pretty recently. It’s possible the collection is someone who hasn’t been announced. I don’t believe Honus had been announced at all before the collection in 19.
I highly doubt it's a new legend, the Honus thing was probably a one time only event. Pujols was an inning boss in 19 and a WS reward last year, so the only avenues for him this year (assuming they continue to not repeat bosses) is a collection, program, or BR reward.
He's retiring this year so it wouldn't shock me if he's the big one. Everyone's expecting Aaron but SDS almost never does what anyone expects.
@halfbutt_psn said in This new content blows!:
I think OP has a point. “Rookie” difficulty in years pre-2018 meant big pci, slow pitch speeds, and lots of pitches down the middle.
“Rookie” now can easily see four or five balls in a row to start an AB, followed by well located pitcher’s pitches in the zone.
I think moments as a concept are fine, but the way the sliders are cranked now is very frustrating. Sure, you’ll complete the moment after enough tries, but it’s not that fun.
Personally, I think this has to do with deficiencies in the hitting engine more than anything.
In real baseball, the game is controlled by throwing strikes and staying ahead. In the show, the game is controlled by throwing balls. Just play any game online to see what I mean.
With all due respect, if you play online and don’t see any strikes, stop swinging. If you’re chasing balls out of the zone, why would anyone give you something to hit? That’s exactly what would happen IRL.

Hitting bombs. Dudes are quitting after the 1st inning
I haven't lined out this much since MLBTS 19 before the HR/9 patch. It's been insane. I'm smacking the ball around like a MF'r and losing to the [censored] PCI HR's you'd expect in the moonshot event.
More like lineout event. Sheesh. This is brutal so far. Am I the only one?

Anyone know how to fix my diamond dynasty? I can play everything except diamond dynasty. Every time I try and open it, it just says network error unhandled server exception. It’s not my internet, I have 2 maxed road to the show players and I can play online, but not diamond dynasty. Had the game since release and it hasn’t ever fixed itself. I bought the game to play this mode.
Have you tried re-installing the game?

You really don’t need to be such a [censored] to OP, bud.

I totally agree. I haven’t grinded RS this year much, but in years past I have made WS. My Era this year with my starters and my BP is amazingly low compared to years past (4+ era). I haven’t even tried pinpoint yet, just doing analog still and still dotting pitches I couldn’t in years past. It’s a lot more fun now especially in HOF and up.
I made WS once in 19 which was honestly just total luck. I was pretty awful, it was my first year playing DD and first year playing the The Show since 16. I spent all last year trying to get back and inevitably would stall out in the mid-800's because every game turned into a HR shootout and I had trouble adding on once I got 4 or 5 runs. I finally realized I was just going to need to hit better and really focused on my hitting and finally got back in twice in the last few seasons of the year. But [censored] if every game wasn't HR derby.
This year I'm 41-7 in ranked and have a 2.55 lifetime ERA. I'm wiping the floor with guys with WS and 12-0 banners. But at the same time I know I'm not THAT good. I think with the addition of Xbox players the quality of competition has gone down dramatically. These games aren't even that sweaty and last year pretty much every game above 800 was a complete sweat fest.
That’s good to hear man and congrats on the good record, keep the grinding. I decided this season I would grind it out for WS. Currently at 845ish with a 8-2 record (I think lol). Two rage quits today in first three innings, I guess people give up after an early homerun. Lol with what you and others are saying, I think I’ll just grind out the last few wins this weekend to get Vida.
Go for it man! People are definitely giving up if they see you can hit. With so many people struggling at the plate because of pinpoint there's a lot of quits if you go up by 4 or 5 runs. If you've made WS before you already know it but if you're good enough to hit 845 you're good enough to make WS.
