Fourth Inning Showdown easy?

So again my question, if you found this easy, do you regularly play ranked above 700 or not?
I get it. I'm currently ranked about 450, so I'm not an "A" player. It took me 5 tries for 1st inning, 2 for second inning, and oddly enough, 1 try for 4th. I got lucky with my pitching and made it to the final showdown with 11 runs. Barely managed to score the 5 runs with 3 outs left.
And... I still haven't completed the 3rd inning challenge. I think I've tried 5 times and just can't seem to get through.
-
I'd say I'm pretty average. I went in down 7-15 and got it mwith 14 outs to to go. I can see how Felix could give people struggles, but I found it easy once I started sitting low and waiting on the sinker. He didn't throw high much to me.

So it sounds like some of you guys are above 700 but I can’t tell from some of your answers. I’m on my second try and I think I’m just going to leave it for a while.
I understand that waiting for a good pitch to hit is part of baseball, but I just am not finding at bats like this fun.

Yeah, not for me. Are all of you guys who found this one easy playing at HOF level online regularly?
I made it to the boss stage at about 7-15 and I knew within about two batters that there was no way I would be successful.
There is no way this is on veteran or all star difficulty. Guys with great vision and contact vs right have pretty small pci’s and the pitch speed is such that I was late on All but about three pitches in 20 outs.
I’m fine with not being as good at this game as some of you, despite having played since about 14 or 15, but I am finding it hard to believe that the average joe player thinks this was easy.
So again my question, if you found this easy, do you regularly play ranked above 700 or not?
i usually play online and then go play the boss. It makes it seem slower. Especially since I face Oswalt, Newhouser and every 110 mph reliever in the game...every time I play online. lol
-
I got it on my 2nd try. But I will admit. I sinned the 2nd time around. I used Directional.
-
I’ve tried 3 times. First lost 14-15 second lost to archer and just now 15-15 9 outs to go and couldn’t get a runner on.
-
Won first try down 15-7 with 9 outs left... it was dicey til the 12’out mark and I went off

I despise showdown and was down 15-7 both times I did this one. First time was 15-15 with 5 outs left and I choked. Second time won it with 5 outs left. For me, the key is taking pitches in this one more than anything. King Felix is wild, about 50/50 on balls/strikes so just be extremely patient. Oh and I'm in the 500s right now in ranked.

Havn't beaten it yet but i came close. My second atempt i got it to 10/15 went into the game scored 4 runs and had runners on second and first with Nolan Jones up, missed a huge home run by innches with 3 outs to go. Couldn't overcome in the end though.
Even though i lost i went up 4 levels in the xp path and made 4k. I may have to change my tone on showdown.

I haven't made it out the 600's in RS yet, currently around 680. Previous years I've been in the high 800's max. I beat this Showdown on the first try. I went in down 11-15 and I'm also terrible against Felix. Best pointer for this one is take your walks. He walked my first two batters and fell behind 2-0 on my third. I sat on a fastball down the middle and got on with a 3-1 count and hit a 3 run HR. Got a few outs before getting another baserunner and I bunted him to second to stay out of the DP. Hit a walk off HR with Austin Meadows.
I know it sounds redundant because everyone says this, but with the final showdown boss, you really have to work the count and take your walks. Another strategy I use every time is to get 2 speed guys with great bunt ratings. I lead one off and go for a drag bunt and steal second pretty much every time. Next time that guy hits I wait for a strike before trying to bunt again if no one is on first. Final boss is all about getting baserunners on and keeping the pressure on them. Use your perks to your advantage. If you don't have oppo taco, try laying off away pitches because those seem to be the ones where the CPU will make great plays when you slap the ball oppo. If the take off or blast off, whatever it's called perk is available, I take it every time. I never take the ones for errors, nerves of steel, or inner peace, they all seem useless. Hopefully these are a few things that may help.
You say you take two speed guys, one leadoff and bunt, steal. What about 2nd speedster?
I may try it out.

I beat it first try. Came in down 9-15 and had 13 outs left after a walk off from Jose Ramirez. Still felt like it wasn’t all star. PCI was so small for a lot of batters with decent vision.
-
Leave the PCI alone. Do not move it at all or turn it off. Forces you to wait for pitches down the middle. Then do wait for pitches down the middle before two strikes. Be patient for those meatballs, but be ready for them. This also helps you to avoid the dreaded double plays. You know Felix is at the end so lefties are a must. Take your walks. If you are waiting for meatballs you will get plenty of walks.

Haven't gotten to final boss yet, but the Archer boss was extremely easy, however the blue missions I keep failing. Just can not hit consistently. Two times I lost on 2 out check swings that I made contact with. Having different pitch speeds for different difficulty levels has to be the dumbest thing SDS has ever done. I play one game on rookie and I am ahead on everything thing, i do a mission on all star and behind on everything. And you are only allowed 3 outs. That is no time to adjust. The set ups of these missions would indicate that they should be extremely easy. Yet I keep failing them.

This is what I was saying. The pci size at the end with good vision and contact guys is tiny.
-
I guess I still suck. Rolling along fine until the pitch one inning and get a strike out. All 3 batters hit pitches out of the strike zone for outs. Ok, fine. Next one, get three outs w/o giving up a hit. Suddenly, by f’n magic Sale can now strike guys out but then Kyle Seager hits an up and away fb outside the zone for a homerun with 2 outs and 2 strikes. F’ it, I am done with showdown and the bs shennanigans.
-
I've been blasting through the stage 2 showdowns without losing, but took 2 tries for this inning. His sinker got me good first time through.

And the pitch speeds ticked up a bit is some bull. Just be honest with the difficulty.

One of the problems I'm finding is that when you go through the mini missions on veteran and then hop to the final on AS, it seems like a bigger jump. Now, I play a conquest AS or HOF game before that final boss for a warm-up. It has helped me.
-
Yeah, @halfbutt I was in the same spot, those pitches were coming in hot. I played it more as a test, I should have worked the count more, played smarter. But the individual missions don't seem so bad, I'm hoping tonight I can get to Felix with 10-12 runs, be patient and scrape together a victory.
Ellsbury and Mitch Haniger are beasts in this mode. I'm glad they have added some pitching missions, worth taking a gold SP/CP now.
