This is a long post and don’t know why I’m compelled to share, so if you idgaf it, I totally understand.
TLDR: I started playing this game for pure joy and there were no DD incentives involved. Once I got hooked to DD, all I sought was winning and the tangible rewards that come with it. After taking a step back, I realize that my truest joy came from everything other than DD, the pure innocent fun of just playing (without the rewards).
In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, I took the plunge into modern gaming and began playing MLBTS. Along with it, I dragged two friends in with me. We had such a blast playing each other in custom leagues using standard MLB teams. I was enthralled. A month in, one of them encouraged me to start collecting cards in Diamond Dynasty. I resisted it, stating that Ultimate Team concepts are harmful psychological strategies to engage the consumer through quick dopamine rewards. However, a month in, I caved and became hooked to collecting some of my favorite old school players. The game served me well and got me through that brutal year everyone experienced.
In 2021, I got significantly better and became competitive online. I played relentlessly in every online mode and even went flawless later on in the year. However, with this competitiveness, it became tougher to experience a loss because tied to it was my availability of time. Take a loss? That meant that I have to play more games (and more time spent) to start a new BR run, or to win the 25 required wins in events, or start from lower in RS. In my head, I had to have everything.
2022 rolled in and I still felt exhausted from 2021. I started to grind, but finally questioned myself in the process, I’m most thankful for 2022 - the change in the way they have scheduled content has made me realize that this is not a sustainable hobby for me. It forced me to either let the content have me by the balls (because playing online, you want to have the most optimal team at all times), or move on in another direction. 2022 has reminded me that when I’m influenced by the schedule of a game’s content, that I’m affected very negatively by it.
I’ve come full circle in this game. I’ve gone from offline player to fierce online competitor and now back to where my joy of this game comes from; just chillin and playing for fun when I can. Offline is where it’s at for me now! If you have any thoughts or related experiences, they’re totally welcome.

This is not just poignant, but sorrowfully accurate (and hilarious at the end there).
Just in a short span of less than 4 years (I showed up in 2020), I’ve seen this community forum devolve from one where members would converse and have nuanced dialogue to one where it seems that not only people come to make hasty assertions, but others peruse the topics for their opportunity to beat someone down with words and pile on with others in order to tear someone down.
I was an active member of this forum (2020-2022), but stopped visiting in order to prevent the daily vitriol and schadenfreude from corroding my own spirit. This is also the reason why I don’t engage in other forms of social media.
Our reliance on social media and virtual communication has led to the erosion of empathy, social intelligence, and basic respect for fellow humans. I wanna thank @SchnauzerFace_MLBTS for bringing something up that resonated with me and giving hope to me about the people among us.

What’s up community,
I know that the competition may not be as stiff this time of the year, but it was still sweaty regardless. Happy to experience this for the first time (@Ericulous1_PSN I started playing MLB for the first time last year and now just starting to figure things out). Thanks to everyone who’s given me tips (@raesONE_PSN @OreoRockstar_PSN) -
If you didn’t post this as often as you do, I would never comment. However, it’s getting old.
The gameplay may not be perfect, but the bigger issue seems to be that you’re not nearly as good as you think you are.

Have any of you ever gone on YouTube and said to yourself, “I wasn’t gonna click on this DD-related video, but since he has that stunned look on his thumbnail to sell his video, I think I’ll watch it.”
The annoying face seems more prevalent in MLBTS-related videos than any other types in my feed.

Translation: I'll see all you sheep in April. I'm tried of matching up with 'thirsty' players and sheep.
I was able to tolerate your posts until you started name-calling to help you feel better about yourself.
You’ve let your mind convince you that since you’re getting your a$$ whooped online, that everyone is “thirsty,” just to help you soothe your ego in order to prevent internalizing the idea that you suck. Yet, everyone else is sheep - definitely not you. Ok buddy.

I will play anybody here, money down, whatever you want. I truly think I am the best in the world. WS year after year. Somebody play me who can actually give me a challenge...
You sound like one of those people who go on American Idol believing they’re the greatest… and you know how that usually goes.

Overalls are a product of denim and sewing/stitching.

As it is now, you can see your stats on a card for offline and online play. I would really love to see stats split up by difficulty levels (batting avg in AS difficulty vs. in HOF difficulty, etc). Have any of you wished for this as well?

You have to win while holding your controller over your head while it’s pointed at the pitcher using only the thumb and index finger of your right hand.

You feel like he could succeed in some of the other sports like football or basketball. Bo Jackson anyone?

I just got dashboarded on a Salvy homer by the real Jose Devers. No hate, I realize he has a life too but just thought it was funny.
That’s hilarious. If I ever see him hit a homer, I’ll pull the plug on my tv.

I was about 200th in line on both, but I earned them both, and cancelled my order. So, you just moved up one spot. You're welcome!
Ok, soooo you're pretty good then? I would really like to just earn them but I could never win 30 games in 1 week.
I believe it's a 2 part event, so you have more than a week. I haven't had much time to play, but I was able to get to 20 wins last night and should be able to hit 30 by Sunday. I believe my opponent quit before the 3rd inning in at least 5 of those, which helped to speed things along a bit. My goal is to get Vlad Jr and Judge before Part 2 just in case the criteria for part 2 sucks. For all I know, it will be another HOF quick count event, but this time with outlier 99 pitches and silver hitters.
The key in this event is to take the lead before your opponent has a chance to pinch hit with Ohtani and then pitch with him for a few innings. I've had a few homeruns against him, but overall he's tougher than the silvers that are out there.
So, what you're saying is exploit the parameters of the Event before your opponent?
No. What I said was that you should try to take the lead before your opponent has a chance to pinch hit with Ohtani and then pitch with him for a few innings (as in, your opponent leaves him in). Most opponents leave him in the 9 slot, so if you're pitching well that could give you 2-3 innings to take the lead before they can bring him in.
I certainly hope you didn't sprain your ankle while jumping to conclusions
Ok, I do apologize. I misread your statement. It sounded like you were condoning pitching with Ohtani yourself.
If someone brings a gun to a knife fight, you better hope you have one too. Yes it's an exploit, but as @arvcpa_MLBTS stated, if I know my opponent is doing it, I'll be ready to match them. I promise not to include doing it on my citizenship progress report. And of course, I like a fair game, if my opponent pinch hits with someone else, or doesn't leave him in to pitch,, I'll do the same and won't use Ohtani as a pitcher. I have a tiny bit of integrity..
You are absolutely right, it's pretty lame that it became the ultimate exploit for this event, but it's in Miyagi-Do, learning Karate for defense.....oh wait, wrong forum.
I used a lot of Ohtani in the event. I hope no one perceived me as a “sweep the leg” guy!

I personally don't like strike zone as a pitching camera. What Cbrev says is true without a doubt, but in my experience you will hang way more pitches down the middle or in the zone when you try to spot them outside of the zone if you barely miss your input. Or sometimes you throw a curveball or a changeup with perfect release, spot it way below the zone and it will still be in the bottom of the zone for a strike. And they get crushed.
So, I moved away from that camera a while ago. I actually use either pitcher offset or strike zone 2 for pitching. Had the most succes with pitcher offset and I prefer that one. Only downside is that I can't see the runner on 2B and if he's taking a lead or not.
But hey, who am I?
I can’t seem to understand why they don’t offer a 2nd base camera when you can’t see the runner on certain cameras. Is there an explanation for this?
