If you enjoy baseball, and this is an amazingly brilliant animated simulation, then you turn on the game expecting to have fun. At least an enjoyable experience. But more times than not, the game leaves you frustrated, puzzled, bored and sometimes even angry. So you turn it off. But you love baseball, so you turn it back on, hoping to have fun. It is a game, right? Games should be fun. Imo, the game needs drastic changes to appeal to the majority of the ones who spent money on it. Maybe SDS could start by listening to the ones playing the game. And their complaints.

"Field of Dreams?" That's a stadium of dreams, or something. It's just a stadium with a cornfield. The house is in the wrong place, should be bleachers, not grandstand, there should be no outfield fence, and what's up with all the greenhouses? On a farm?

Ugh this needs some improvement
Last night, I hit a perfect/perfect for a foul ball.

These TA moment pitchers are ridiculously wild. After 3 or 4 pitches, way outside of the zone, they throw 1 on the edge. Then more wild pitches. I've played and watched baseball my whole life, and never seen pitchers so all over the place. Add that he keeps throwing over to first and it equals a lot of wasted time.

You guys can quit against me anytime. Anyway you want, thank you very much.
-
Ooh, my team was in extra innings? I didn't think about that. Ok. Obviously my team is probably better without me.

Just played a guy whose 8-24, I got 8 hits 0 runs off Degrom, and a perfect game through 8, and of course, after a hit batter (1-2 count) a couple bunts, a fake throw, another perfect bunt with infield in, he wins. What a cheesy trash game this is. Also 99 Walker and 99 Soriano are a combined 6 for 58, 0 home runs. Just trash.

I think that's just one question. But it is weird making your lineup. Sometimes you have to take a bench player, move him to the position of the player you would like to replace in the lineup. Then go over and click on that card and make the change. For example, if you want Griffey (centerfield card) as CF, click on current centerfielder card and make the change, or in the lineup, move current CF to bench and click on card of player from bench in the lineup to make the change. Hope that makes sense and what your looking for.

Please everyone keep starting Degrom. First it was annoying, but I'm racking up wins.

Dan Plesac and Mark DeRosa’s awful repetitive commentary.
You sure got that right, I've turned it off, and except for the home run calls, I don't miss it at all.

Guess Pitch???? Yeah... No. Go practice and get better friend.
Practice what? I'm not a pro ball player and neither are any of us. PCI is not sufficient for such a wide array of possibilities. It's a guessing game. Just not fun at all.
If people can score 15+ runs on legend I’m sure anybody that plays the game a moderate amount can hit the ball hard on hall of fame. It’s like everything else in life. You have to put the time in to get better at the game. If you don’t like the idea of that or you’re not willing to do that, you can always do something else.
Dude, your so wrong. This is not like "everything else in life," this is a video game. In life, you practice and you should become better at just about anything, but this game is in control of every pitch and hit location, not fate or physics. You can hit the ball perfect and be out. You can miss the ball and get a hit. You can throw a perfect pitch and hit a batter (usually followed by a home run) Yea, yea, just like real life, but real life isn't controlled by preset ratings (accurate or not), animation glitches and DDA. Your either good at this, or your not.

@eccentrictexas6_xbl said in This Will be the Third Boss I've Missed:
Please SDS, please stop with timed innings programs. Even with Quad XP, there is very little chance of me making it to the bosses.
This will be the third one in a row I've missed out on.
Can you just stop putting a time limit on everything, please.
I know I will get swamped with, "it's so easy to get there", but it's actually not if you have a number of commitments and not a lot of time to play.
I know it won't matter to anyone, but I'm seriously considering making this my last version of the show. My time is my time, SDS, and it is valuable to me. I'm sick being timed and made to feel rushed on something that should actually just be for enjoyment.
Your not missing out on anything, unless you really like a certain player. You can do the same, sometimes better with a card that isn't a 99. Build your team the way you like it, don't stress over having the highest rated, latest, greatest.

I hate playing moments in this game. The pitchers are horrendous. No pitcher is that bad. Pitch after pitch outside the zone, way outside the zone. In the dirt, high sliders, inside, outside, I've walked twice trying for 1 home run. This game needs to loosen up and allow more hits. I'm sick of fly out, ground out, foul out.

So since there are so many pitchers with outlier fastballs, I’m always geared to hit it which in turn makes me very anxious/quick to press the swing button which results me swinging at bad pitches.
Any tips to stay patient since you don’t have much reaction time?
Looking fastball first and often is good. Normally when you show your opponent with the outlier (usually fastball) that you can time, or be early on that pitch, regardless of pci, they're going to use more off speed. A big part of hitting is reading your opponents tendencies and guessing location pitch and speed. You can be very successful at this game if you can predict and hit fastballs up, and take offspeed pitches low, especially by working the count. So you miss a few off speed pitches, we all do, your approach is good. But as far as a hitting tip, focus release location.

Anyone who has ever quit a game before the end in any other way than using the "Quit" option is a Loser in every aspect of life. Plain and simple, a shell of a man. Baseball is a microcosm of life, and if you cannot accept defeat like a man and instead run away and hide and quit, that tells me everything I would ever need to know about you as a person. That you are pathetic and weak. Your fragile ego hurt over getting beat in a video game. Dashboarding is a crutch for the weak. Intentionally timing an opponent out is equally obnoxious. There is nothing wrong with properly quitting a game when you are beat or outmatched, but to intentionally do it in any other manner should affect you to the deepest pits of your soul because it isn't right. And if it doesn't, you don't even recognize how pathetic and weak you are.
Everyone needs to toughen up. Learn to lose like a man if you are going to play a man's game.
SDS, please put an end to the wimp-boy
Your condition requires counseling, and possible medication.

I dashboarded (if that's what you call quitting before the end of a play) twice today. I rarely do it, but I'll tell you why I did. You can blame me, but I personally blame the matchmaking. I'm currently around .500, in 5 straight games, I've faced opponents with records 40 or more games above .500. One opponent was close to a hundred games over .500. I start by thinking ok, I'll give it a try, but after a couple innings, or a couple batters, it's usually clear I'm outmatched. I'll give up a couple home runs or runs scored, but I'm not going to be fodder for someones stats. The game needs to consider win/loss records in some form, while matchmaking. My question is why are there so many skilled players with massive winning records in all-star and pennant race? So next time, your playing someone not as good as you, quit crying if you get a win but your player doesn't get the 40, 50 or 60 something home run. I'm not going to keep serving them up.

I wish all of these things would work for me. I'm not a kid with a Doritos bag ( more like a grown up with ice cream), but I still lose most of my games online and see very few hittable pitches. Yes of course there is some RNG which is lame. There should be a casuals league and a competitive league, the latter being completely skill based. But I assure you, those of us who suck still can't hit a lick online and lose 90% of the time.
I agree there should be no RNG helping the bad player to win, but speaking as a bad player, it's not as helpful as you all think. Look at my RS lifetime record. 8-42. All 8 wins were early quits if I recall. I have never won a 9 inning online game. I'm not complaining. I'm still new comparatively, I don't have patience to take BP and of course I'm going to suck compared to those of you who have played for a decade. But I'm just trying to reassure you, it's not helping us as much as you think.
Ok....all together now....GET GOOD!
There is a casual mode. It's actually a lot more fun. The stats count, but no xp. XP? Yea, that's fun. One time, in casual, on rookie mode, 0-0 through 3 innings, I messaged my opponent I was going to throw all fastballs. He responded, all fastballs? OK. So we both threw all fastballs and let the hitting and defenses rule, he won 10-7, I had bases loaded bottom of the ninth, fly out to the track. Funnest online game I ever played. And I lost. At least playing in casual/rookie, if I fall behind, there's a chance to come back. And my player online stats are much better. Try casual/rookie, I know I enjoy it much more.
-
Anyone who sucks in RS, please come over and play casual rookie/rookie mode. This mode needs more players. Takes a little while to get a match up sometimes. There's no xp or W/L record, but stats count. And it's fun. More hits, more scoring, more baseball playing. I played a game last night with 5 lead changes. That was fun. I've hit a grand slam, and I've had one hit against me, that's something I've never seen in RS. So, if you struggle in RS, don't care about xp, come on over, have some fun.

Baseball is a sport where the results don't always match the process, hard hit balls are sometimes outs, weak hit balls are sometimes hits, I know I see some pitches where I know I don't need perfect contact to loop it over the infielders head, just good enough contact, we don't get enough info regarding our opponents inputs to actually know what went on, with that being said, good process will win more often than not over the long haul, small sample size is not super useful in baseball. And as a pitcher you are trying to make them swing and miss or create poor contact, so looks like you were pitching effectively, some balls just happened to find some holes that game.
Dude, you seem to have mistaken this game for baseball. In real baseball, you know when you've hit the ball well, and you can get a hit, or make an out. But when your out, you can attribute it to the defense, pitching or just bad luck. In this game, your at the mercy of algorithms. In real baseball, the cpu isn't calculating an outcome, in this video game it is. You may be playing an online opponent, but your also playing the cpu.
Wonder why people complain?
