pretty sure I made my complaint clear, I don't understand the pricing on the gamepass early access, not sure what PS5 or Switch have to do with that

Baseball is a sport where the results don't always match the process, hard hit balls are sometimes outs, weak hit balls are sometimes hits, I know I see some pitches where I know I don't need perfect contact to loop it over the infielders head, just good enough contact, we don't get enough info regarding our opponents inputs to actually know what went on, with that being said, good process will win more often than not over the long haul, small sample size is not super useful in baseball. And as a pitcher you are trying to make them swing and miss or create poor contact, so looks like you were pitching effectively, some balls just happened to find some holes that game.
Playing with the Rangers who have a bad bullpen, traded for Kirby Yates who the Braves had in AAA to come in and be our closer, Kirby Yates is still in AAA. I have an 83 rated closer in AAA, my highest BP rating is 70, how does he not get called up after the trade?
I know Call Ups are meant to be story driven but maybe after a trade you get one call up/send down?
I know this is probably more of a microsoft decision as opposed to SDS but the early access bundle for those planning on using gamepass to get the base game is insanely overpriced, for $50 why don't we get the same pre-order bonuses as the digital deluxe version.
Early Access $50
- You Don't Get the Game from this, must have Gamepass access to get the game
- Four Days Early Access.
- 2 Gold Choice Pack.
- 10 Show Packs.
- 1 Ballplayer Pack.
- Double Daily login rewards.
- 10k Stubs
vs.
Digital Deluxe $100
- MLB the Show 22 on Xbox either gen (thought this was implied but clearly not)
- Four Days Early Access.
- Full game. Dual Entitlement for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
- One Diamond Choice pack.
- One Cover Athlete Diamond Choice pack.
- Five Gold Choice packs.
- 20 The Show packs.
- One Ballplayer pack.
- Double daily login rewards.
- Cover Athlete Themed Bat Skin.
- 25K Stubs
Standard Pre-order is $70 and gets
- MLB the Show 22 on Xbox either gen (thought this was implied but clearly not)
- Gold Choice pack
- Five The Show packs.
- 10K Stubs

If you don't have Gamepass then the early access package does not apply to you, I 100% agree with you that if I was not getting the game via gamepass I would get the more expensive option and think the extra price is worth it, you are missing the point, if the early access package was in the $20-$30 range I think that would be much more reasonable.
My post is about the Early Access Package price, not an argument with the normal version vs deluxe version pricing, I am fine with that.
I value the base game at around $50 or $60 (which I get by paying for a gamepass subscription), so the early access price being an extra $50 would double that making it worth the $100 deluxe edition, yet I am getting rewards closer to the $70 version,
First and so I am clear: I agree that the gamepass addition is over-priced.
I disagree with the evaluation, and a different lens may ease some of the frustration. "I value the base game at around $50 or $60 (which I get by paying for a gamepass subscription)," But that's not the actual value of the game in gamepass. if you pay $50 for the subscription, we could argue that its actual value $of sub/number of games.
You could say "well I buy game pass only for TS" Great, and your evaluation dictates your purchasing decision not the value of the product in the market. I agree with the frustration and not the evaluation.
I may just buy to own the game. I put so many hours into it the ROI is ridiculous compared to other games I play.
The issue with your statement, a thought I considered, is that yes, they may be saying we make estimated X amount of money per game from the gamepass deal, fore ease sake lets say approx $20 per game, so the $50 addon would put it in line with the $70 version, however the big difference with the gamepass version is I do not own the game, at any time they can remove it from gamepass and I lose access, buying the early access does not give me the base game though, so if I purchased the early access, and lets say that would be the normal cost of the game plus benefits ($70), I still don't own the game and at any time they can still remove it and I lose access, for $50 it should include the game itself as well to make sense with the gamepass version making less money per game. The package then is more in line with buying the $70 version of the game ($20 per gamepass game + $50 for early access) for those who are already paying something via gamepass.
My values on the market are based on the pricing they put their versions at, I tried to value each part as contributing a value, I.e, $60 Base Game (this is their pricing, not mine) 1 GC pack 5k stubs, next level is $70 with 5 show packs and another 5k stubs for a total of 10k, so you can say that 5 show packs + 5k stubs equals $10. I am not gonna go through the rest but I used their pricing to calculate a value. The deal they made with Xbox for the gamepass is really irrelevant, it only makes sense when realizing that they are trying to make up the difference from the customer without giving the ownership rights that come from buying the version outside of gamepass.
Great points and again: I understand your perspective. While there is a fear of "not owning the game," My question for you is: Do you see them removing the game from gamepass? It's been made pretty clear that the decision to put TS on Gamepass was the MLBs not SDS. That and considering the astronomical numbers Sony/SDS made in profits last year, would it make says financially (and PR) to remove the game? Will it be removed a couple years down the line -- probably. Question: if that is the case, do you see yourself playing MLB 23 in 2023,24,25, etc? Here we are with less than a week until the game comes out and MLB TS 21 is still available to play on game pass.
My perspective might also come with different set of circumstances. I have Gamepass ultimate for a stupid-cheap price right now (and for a while), I play the TS nonstop and coop will only increase that number. I decided to buy the game: I love it, I want to play it early and I was cool with the perks.
I do wonder if they expected players to have a keen eye for the missing perks. The pricing is just off...An explanation would be great. Doubtful we will get one though.
No, I have zero expectation that they will remove the game from gamepass, but if they do for whatever reason I also have no claim to continue access to the game, but on a year to year game ownership value could be easily argued away.
I just calculate about $30-35 worth of value based on their pricing
($20 for the 10 packs and 10k stubs) and ($10-$15 for the rest of what's included in the gamepass early access) (Values based on the Base game vs the $70 version and the $70 version vs the $85)
but they are charging $50, just wondering what that other $15 is for? I really want the early access as I love the show, I would happily pay the 50 for early access and the perks from the digital deluxe package, or I would happily pay $20-$30 for the current offering but the current option just doesn't make financial sense.
I don't know what the deal was for the show to be on gamepass, I don't know who had the final call or how decision/settlement was reach but they reached it, I should not be punished by having to pay extra money for no value because they are not happy with the deal, the reality is probably that the addition of xbox and gamepass added tons more users, a percentage of which probably bought stubs and the company did not lose money on the gamepass contract.
p.s. I understand your points as well, we are not that far off from each other
Update: Kirby Yates demoted to single A, Karinchak in AAA, trading for relievers is tough if they can't make it out of the minors
I missed that portion of the stream but sounds great, I am all in for offline content

Lol why would $50 equal $100 you’re not very good at math
How much is the game worth? the game is part of the other packages but since it is included in the gamepass subscription I am already paying for access to the game. so for $50 I am not getting the game since I already own it via gamepass, I am getting early access and the rewards which are very similar to the $70 pre-order, are you telling me the game is $20-$30 without the bonuses? how much value does and extra gold choice pack, 5 more show packs, double login rewards and a ballplayer pack actually have?
Well I’m on ps5 and games are 70 so an extra 30 for all that well worth it

I think the way the game usually plays is always super solid, it really is a very good representation of the sport in my opinion, as far as the content I think there is a slight move away from NMS being so easy, I personally can understand that move as long as they stop at a fair balance, NMS Teams could be pretty darn good pretty easily in the past, if they keep shifting that way year by year I might not be as happy in 3 or omre years

Dude, you seem to have mistaken this game for baseball. In real baseball, you know when you've hit the ball well, and you can get a hit, or make an out. But when your out, you can attribute it to the defense, pitching or just bad luck. In this game, your at the mercy of algorithms. In real baseball, the cpu isn't calculating an outcome, in this video game it is. You may be playing an online opponent, but your also playing the cpu.
I know when I have hit the ball well in this game, I have not once had a situation where I have hit the ball well and the result hasn't been a hard hit ball. Maybe I am lucky but I also have not seen many people complain about squaring up the ball and it not being a hard hit ball, just complaining it was not a hit or a hr. Of course when you introduce AI and computerize the sport there are things that happen behind the scenes that are out of our control to a point, but, offline at least, this game replicates the real life sport better than any other sports game out there. I may have mistaken this game for baseball because it is a baseball game. And when I make an out I can easily understand if it was an out because of the defense, pitching or just bad luck. I hit hard line drives right at defenders all the time, it is frustrating but the result makes sense, I squared the balls up and therefore did not get lift.

I'm curious what your timing was on some of those 14's? I know I'll have 14-15's placement, but I'll be early or late. Which usually results in a fly out or grounder. Which I can't really complain when it happens to me.
I believe every 14 was just late.
If the ball wasn’t up in the pci with a power hitter, it’s going to be a fly out every time. If the timing was good, then I would have some questions.
So, how am I supposed to go the other way? becuase late side of good is a Flyout and just late weak contact… very early or very late bloop hits?
Welcome to the show. SDS has never been able to figure out just late timing can result in good hits too.
Wasn't there a year that the meta was "be late, be great"?
There was a year that was the major complaint, people just want to find a reason their opponent shouldn't have won and how everything they do is perfect, we all get crappy hits and give up crappy hits, over the long haul better players will win more often than not

Let me ask a real question. There is no way of knowing. But is directional OP this year. I played a few games where if the ball was outside of the zone swing and miss if you put it close the ball is hit hard. So of course I pitch outside the zone and they swing wildly. It makes it easy. So I changed up and went that way. Waited for balls in the zone press X. Tater 9 out of 10 times. So why would anyone use a PCI just get a good eye and power swing ball in the ball in the zone or don’t swing and get walked. It’s super fun
Sounds boring to me, not everyone is looking for an easy way out, I personally like to feel some accomplishment and pride in what I do and not know that I won my games cause I was able to find something that required less skill. I have not tried directional or timing hitting, nor do I plan to, so not sure if what you are saying is even true.

are you trying to go opposite way on an inside pitch? hard to get great contact doing that, are you early on outside pitches? you are not providing enough info to know what is going on with you, I know I have no problem driving the ball oppo on pitches that are outside, is the pitch a fastball or breaking ball, is your hitter a pull hitter tendency, tendencies matter, where is your pci, is the ball high in your PCI, middle in the PCI, low in the PCI? Hitting the ball on the sweet spot, middle middle is typically more important than timing for a hard hit ball, if your are going for power and try to hit it off the top of the barrel, your results if you miss are gonna usually be long fly outs.

I don't think you can raise it, you also don't get rewards in the second season
I just finished my 2nd season with the Mets. 1st season I did on "Beginner" just to fly thru it for the XP gained to jump start the FOTF program for me. I wanted to play the 2nd season at a higher level, but there was no visable option letting me increase the differculty without deleating that season & starting a new MTO from scratch. But I opted to play a 2nd season with the Mets because all the call up's, trades & off season FA signings worked out awesomely beyond satisfaction. I was very eager to play that team I re-worked with all those transactions.
But now I'm rebutting what you said in your comment, which is ......
YES YOU DO earn all the XP rewards every following season played. My 2nd season earned me 50K plus in total XP just as it did my 1st season.
Nice, I had heard differently but I guess it was wrong
on Old Gen
I know Houston has the bad framerate, KC has lag, Field of Dreams has both all the time. It is very hard to play defense due to the lag and hitting is no fun either, I would avoid playing at Field of Dreams
@dtownwarrior78_mlbts said in How do I raise the difficulty?:
There isn't a way to simply reset it somehow? I have to play on "veteran" the entire time I have the game? That makes zero sense....
oh, misunderstood the question, thought you wanted to continue into the second season, but yes, when you highlight the MTO tab it should have options, otherwise you can go into setting find the save files and delete it from there
