I tend to be very impatient with new copies of players I am very comfortable with.

My entire batting approach is better when I foul off more pitches early w contact swing.

That is when I finally find my sweetspot

All that weighted means is that you can't just divide by 17 (roughly 5.9%) as you mentioned. It is distributed differently

For a first baseman maybe power is counts as 8% of the overall rating and for a shortstop maybe power only counts as 2% of the overall rating. That is because power is more commonly associated with first basemen while shortstops are usually judged on their defense and speed (and contact), That is why Ozzie Smith rates highly with below average power.

So when comparing players, compare two players of the same primary position. Two centerfielders for example (say Trout and Griffey) should be rated using the same criteria. So comparing them is valid.

No, you're thinking of weighted wrong. 90 power is 90 power regardless of what position they play. It just that for a 1B or RF it will have more of an impact on their overall.

If all you care about is the four main offensive ratings then just look at those ratings and ignore the overall. Overall does not tell you what type of player it is.

A good example

Both Harrison Bader and Brandon Marsh are 84 overall rated centerfielders. But how they achieve that rating comes very differently. Brandon Marsh is much more of an offense first CF while Bader is much more of a fast, defensive CF. They are both worthy of 84 but if I only care about offense then I am taking Brandon Marsh 100% of the time.

The system is not perfect and a bit antiquated in my opinion, but it really seems like you would be better off ignoring overalls and looking at individual ratings. Very few experienced players will choose a card solely based on overall.

Thanks for trying to explain this to me. I totally understand how 2 cards can reach the same overall in different ways. But the 2 cards with say, the same con R of 110, perform differently with con R because of position? That makes no sense. Why list the ratings at all, if they're not accurate. Just lower the rating for that card for that position. I think your saying a centerfielder with 100 power might not have 100 power because of his position. Thanks for trying, I'll never get it. But I'll still be wondering about it next time I strike out with my 99 hitter against a 63 pitcher.

A 110 rating performs the same for every position it just effects the overall differently.

Long story short, don’t worry about the overall. Look at the individual ratings.

I think it has to do with your opponent's rating compared to yours. If you beat someone higher rated you go up more, if you lose to someone lower rated you go down more, etc

Hmm, that could be. I just played a guy 363 and I'm 474, I only got +27, he got a 0. So your probably right.

Not sure, but I think you can only go up until 400. After 400 is when the +/- comes into play.

The reason everybody complains is they are pack addicted and not pulling diamonds its obvious you addicted losers

Timing Hitting - Contact Swing - RNG is the recipe you need if your not good in RS or other online modes. This game is a simulation…it won’t let you go down without a fight and you’ll get lucky wins along the way.

I have no idea what RNG is. And I may not be good in RS, but I do play better in casual rookie online mode. I get hits, strikeout less, hit more home runs, pitch in and out of jams. I don't want lucky RS wins, I want to play, compete and have fun. Win or lose.

Your last sentence is what a lot of us have been wanting.

Remember the more the game gives stubs the more the prices cards will go up. You would still get as far you are getting now. Live collections and big player collections should take awhile.

Lets examine this theory here.

Assuming you fly through mini seasons on rookie, forgoing the harder difficulty challenges, you get a total of :

22 Show packs

1 BIAH pack

2 Prospect packs

17,000 stubs
27,500 XP

Mystery Map :

5 Show packs

Mini Seasons may take longer but the rewards are infinitely better as you get a minimal amount of stubs/xp for Conquest. Also, in order to get "twice as many packs" from the mystery map, you'd have to play it at least 10 times....which would probably take nearly as long as a mini-season anyway.

In mini seasons you get said rewards IF you win the championship and complete some specific challenges at the very end of playing 30 some odd games. With Mystery Map you get 5 packs every 3 games to add to your lineup and after 30 games you have 50 packs. I'm not saying that one is markedly better than the other because I did both. If your are going sheer packs per games played Mystery Map will earn you a higher ratio.

I dashboarded (if that's what you call quitting before the end of a play) twice today. I rarely do it, but I'll tell you why I did. You can blame me, but I personally blame the matchmaking. I'm currently around .500, in 5 straight games, I've faced opponents with records 40 or more games above .500. One opponent was close to a hundred games over .500. What time of the year are we at in the game cycle???? The only guys still playing are the best players who play the game for the whole game cycle. There are not too many casual gamers at this point.

Why are you taking walks if you need a HR though? At least swing and try to foul it off if you’re about to walk. It’s not like it matters if you strikeout either.

Chances are pretty good that wild desperation swing will lead to a no doubt HR anyways with the state hitting is in right now.

Depending on when you used the lower rated version, pitching could’ve been worse. People tend to pitch more carefully to 99 overall players than to lower players as well. You also have to account for the mental aspect of it all. You could’ve been pushing a little too hard with the 99 instead of having the same approach as you did with the lower one. If you started out bad with the 99, you likely kept thinking about how bad you were doing with it, which just led to you doing even worse.

If all other factors are nonexistent, then the 99 will absolutely be better than the lower one, assuming attributes are better across the board and the 99 has the same swing.

Well put. I definitely tend to press with a brand new 99, especially when my expectations are through the roof (i.e. Frank Thomas, Jackie, etc.) Once I start hitting with them, it's on.

I almost finished a couple TA divisions last n8ght and I didn't do the moments. I think the pitchers aren't bad from my first experience with them. Maddux and Feller pitched gems. Gibson gave up 4 hits but only one run.

I got Carlos Santana and Orel hersheyhiszter at least Carlos was like 150000 stubs back on so it was my highlight of the year ! Oh and once I hit a sinker 102mph in HOF I was happy ............................ ( Headliners was free pack )

The real way to prepare for an RS game is get a bowl of popcorn, some twizzlers (I prefer legal edibles), some soda (I prefer Jack and diet) leave your controller behind..doesn't play much a part. Start your match and just watch the game unfold. You'll just witness the coolest (often unusual) but typically misfit and unpredictable animation play out you've ever witnessed.

Do that 10 times and you'll have a pretty good buzz and a 5-5 record.
