Passed balls.
Sorry to be a [censored], but they are balls that passed through the catcher, not balls from yesteryear.

For the competition.
My playing days are long over, but the need to compete never goes away.
Also, my kids are older, and I don't drink, so it's my way to unwind after a day of work. -
How does everybody feel about timing?!
It's what the misinformed thought Directional was-- just swing away!At least with Directional, you needed a plan: Hit it on the ground with Lofton, lock and load with the power guys, opposite field with Boggs.
It was situational baseball.
Now, a blind man can hit .399 if his buddy just yells, "Swing!" at the right time.
Who knew baseball was this easy!
-
My son just absolutely tattooed a pitch in H2H, perfect/perfect.
Result?
Foul ball. Kind of throws the notion of SQUARING a ball up PERFECTLY out the window. Line outs are fine. But foul?Other hilarious/physics defying Show anomalies:
- It is physically impossible to be early on a ball and hit it foul the other way (lefty hitting it foul to left field). Yet this result is somehow common.
- Conversly, it defies the laws of nature to be very late on a pitch and pull it foul. Your hands and bat position don't allow it.
- Sliders dont break hard to the throwing hand side. When they do, it's called a screwball. Same with a curve that breaks to the hand throwing side.
So don't put any stock in what the game tells you as far as timing.
You know when you're early or late.
And don't lose your shiz niz over perfect/perfect outs.
Einstein's head would explode if he saw such shenanigans.
At least yours don't go foul. -
I have NEVER thrown the controller in anger, but I'm close.
Guidry is just awful.
Brutal control.
It doesn't help that Don Sutton took a down and away slider and PULLED IT to left for a knock! Haha!
This might be the worst Diamond Card I've ever used.
Checking Guidry's career stats (though I remember him), he had a handful of good years. For the Yankees, if you're going to give us a pretty good pitcher, hows about Dave Righetti? Or David Cone? David Wells?

Lol yankee fans "but but babe Ruth, but but but in 1920...."
Babe Ruth played 20 years before Jackie Robison broke the color barrier. The talent in the league today is unreal. Might be baseball blasphemy, but I wouldn't be shocked if babe Ruth was just a run of the mill DH in today's game.
Athletes in every sport have gotten bigger, stronger, and faster since we started tracking these things. Why would mlb pitchers be any different? I know there were probably a few guys back them that could probably hit the low 90s, but call me crazy. I just don't think the average pitcher, Whitey Willabe McGroover, fresh off the farm was bringing a 97+ to the plate like the majority of pitchers are today.
Ruth was the best of his time. He has left behind one of, if not the biggest, legacies in professional sports. That's his place. Can't compare players 100 years apart
And yet we have stats that do just that.
Think of how sick Ruth, Cobb, and the early greats would have been if they knew about the benefits of good nutrition, weight training, had video access to every pitcher and all of their at bats, and didn't have to get jobs in the off season?
Also, the health concerns of alcohol and tobacco use, and poor diet.
Remember, weight training was taboo in all sports expect football until the late 80's.
I think those guys would be just fine playing today. -
Been playing since '15 and the gameplay is light years ahead of all previous installments.
Nice work, SDS!
One tiny exception...
This years jukebox is brutal.
Maybe 3 rock songs total, then what feels like one continuous hip hop song.
But I'm old, and the kids do love the hip hop.Anyone know if they still allow you to upload your own songs from a flash drive?
That would make the game 10/10 for me.Usually the jukebox is amazing and the game itself brutal.
I'll take that trade every time. -
Vision applies to pci size, and the absurdity that is the "outer pci".
Think of it as a magical aura that allows you to hit pitches that you don't actually hit.
Another analogy is the old wiffle ball red "fat bat". If you have a card with high vision, he's using the red "fat bat".
If vision is low, you're using the standard yellow skinny bat..
125 vision is like using a double red fat bat, so if you use contact swing you can foul off curves in the dirt, pickoff throws, and beach balls in the stands. -
Von "Purple" Hays
Kirby "Union Gap" Puckett

Before release, the games was advertised thusly....
- More realistic defense (middle infielders not diving 5ft to make a clean play, get up, set and throw elite runners out by 3 steps)
- Outfielders playing to their actual abilities (Kyle "Dumpy Pants" Schwarber not being able to track a ball 300 ft to his right to catch a ball tailing away)
- Fly balls reacting to Earth's gravity in a more timely matter. Put another way, the universal laws of physics being observed
- The notion of a single.
- "Stealing is back"
Of the five, stealing is back.
The other four have not only not happened, they've reverted back to '22.
It's the Show '22.Am I the only person who sees this?
It seems that those of you in the Forums rarely mention any of this. -
So not booing black players is what you mean, right?
Yes, we should all be very careful. We do live in a Cancel Culture society.
Haven't we [censored]*d off Jackie Robinson enough?
At this point, it's shameless posturing. Jackie was a great player, but "transcending the sport"? Robinson himself would be embarrassed by all of the attention.
He just wanted to be a ballplayer, but the guilt ridden white folk had to make themselves feel better. So fast forward 50 years and his number gets retired across baseball.
Don't kid yourself-- The Show is trying to prove how "woke" they are by riding Jackie's jock for about the 5th year in a row.Not boo black players?
They got a lot more than booed. But they got over it.
We should too.Cancellation from the boards in 5,4,3,2...
-
Collected all of my booty, put that sweet Chipper card at 3rd, added Fonzie and Finley to my bench, Hoffman to my bullpen, and finished Awards to get 99 Mo.
The bad news is now I have nothing to do. Hahaha!
Good times...Happy 4th, hustlers!

No one was encouraging drug or alcohol abuse. If anything, it was a rare, healthy discussion about a great player with a weakness.
I realize some kids may visit these forums, but everyone was discouraging drug and alcohol abuse. The lack of empathy was what had me step in. Saying that someone is a failure or terrible person because of substance abuse makes it difficult for someone to seek help, which is why I included SAMHSA number.
The thread is still open if you want to talk about Halladay and accomplishments as a player. Just keep it positive.
Agreed.
Collin, I don't want your job. Haha -
I just noticed a hilarious "uh oh" card moment.
Jimmy Rollins won the MVP in 2007 and thus his MVP card.
Scroll to page 2 in the marketplace for SS's and you find Jimmy Rollins Veteran Card, also for 2007!
Two cards, same year, and a huge difference in attributes.
Oh, I will never tire of the silly shenanigans of our favorite video game developer!
-
Haven't you seen video of Ruth?
The guy flew around the bases!
All of those players in the black and white videos had major wheels. -
Facebook -- a place to go to keep up on people you didn't give a ?#%@ about in the first place. I'm Facebook free for over a year.
My brain and my dignity thank me. -
Or professional hitters can learn to hit the ball the other way, the way professional hitters did for the first 100 years of the game.

@SchnauzerFace_MLBTS said in Isn't it Weird?:
I really don’t like what they did with the power attributes on some of these guys. My coaches used to always tell us to approach ABs like Gwynn, Carew, Boggs, Brett (though he was a power hitter by comparison), etc. because they would hit line drives, go the opposite direction, and always make contact. Such a different approach than the Adam Dunns and Joey Gallos of the all-or-nothing launch angle era. There are plenty of those big power guys in this game, and they have their place! But I always look forward to using dudes like Gwynn and Smith at the top of the order because they can get on base and set the table for Frank or Foxx or whoever comes after them.
It’s kinda like last year when all of a sudden every pitcher in history apparently had a devastating sinker. If a guy is a Hall of Famer or a legit legend, just let him do what he became famous for doing. I don’t want to see Ted Williams with 99/99 speed/stealing any more than I want to hit moonshots with Ozzie smith.
Agreed.
But the game is almost exclusively about power today, and that's why baseball has become dreadfully boring to watch.
K,K, BB, K.
K,K, Solo HR, K.
Pop up, K, grounder into the shift, K.I had to retire my 5-Time team MVP, Kenny Lofton, early this year because the ball goes absolutely nowhere when he squares one up.
It's why nobody uses great players like Carew, Juan Pierre, realistic Boggs cards, Richie Ashburn, etc.If you don't use cards with a minimum of 90+ power, you're wasting a lineup spot.
Joey Gallo is the biggest joke in baseball.
At least Dunn drew walks as well as hitting balls to Jupiter. -
The Legends Packs were terrific.
I repeat, the Legends of the Franchise packs were terrific. But beyond that?
Let's put it this way, don't sweat it if you don't finish the program. The All-Star Game pack should be renamed the "Classe/Kershaw Special".
Ballin' is a Habit Packs are like Headliner Packs. Nada.
Ballin' out of Control packs replace the old BIAH Packs.
This may seem like a complaint, but I was more than happy to make 10,000 per Classe/Kershaw.
It just would have been super duper to see some different cards in these packs. -
I would like to congratulate the New York Muts for once again blowing a seemingly insurmountable division lead in September.
Lucky for them, baseball is turning into hockey and any team with a pulse makes the playoffs (including my Phillies, who are horrible and have no business being there either). To recap...
2007: Mets hold 7 1/2 game lead with 17 to play. They blow the lead and the glorious Phillies win the division on the last day.
Tom Glavine, who didn't want to play in Philly as a free agent in '06 ("I don't want to have to be a mentor to a bunch of young guys"), gets destroyed by a Little League lineup of Marlins in game 162 ( 2 IP, 7 runs)2008: Same as above. Crumble to the Phils in the last 2 weeks. Phils win WS.
2022: Slowly, painfully, the Mets blow a double digit lead and give the division to the Braves.
Good Luck, Mets! Thank the baseball god's for your participation trophy.
(BTW, is sports the only place in society where we can bust each other without fear of cancellation?)
Can we talk about this one crazy phenomenon in this game?
Why do you guys play?
And You Guys Hated Directional!
