@Thongypu fair enough. I've never had to work with something expressed as odds, so I definitely defer to the actual math there. I'll stick to my decimals from now on and stay in my lane.

Even though showing 100% probability in terms of odds probably isn't very useful, it just doesn't make sense to me that there isn't a better, consistent way to represent it though.

And I'm curious, other than tricking the people who don't know how to interpret the x:y format, what practical benefits are there to using it vs giving the percentage chance? There must be some, I just can't come up with them.

@Thongypu that's not true though. The game lists packs that are 100% guaranteed as 1:1 odds. The chance of getting a diamond player from a regular show pack is 2% and the 1:3 ones are 33%

Last 3 event games on wired fiber no vpn. 1st guy confirmed Boston, 3rd guy confirmed North Carolina. Didn't even ask the 2nd one. I am playing all star and having to sell out for pitches. Quit [censored] matching me against people 1000 miles away. Is there no one playing this [censored] game in the midwest?

You know it’s a red flag to message someone and ask them where they live right? You know that right?

Only if your mind is wired weirdly, like yours apparently. Asking a question with some context is perfectly normal. Not like he asked the guy for his address or his SSN, just asking what region he's from is not that weird.

Yeah, I disagree. And there’s never been anything stated about how the question is asked. If I match with someone, the pause the game, and message me “where do you live” I’m screenshotting, reporting, blocking and quitting. You can think what you want, but, this person is clearly obsessed with internet connections, goes so far to ask people where the live, uses a VPN, that’s the kind of person that does ddos attacks bud. It just is.

"Where do you live" is a weird question, I doubt he used that specific phrase.
"Where are you from" is very commonly used in every day small talk.

Yes, you can doubt it gets phrased that way all you want, much like I can assume it does.

Yes you can. And like I said earlier, that gives us some insight into your mind, not his.

Ah, yes. The psycho analysis. Where did you get your PHD Doctor?

    It's really not that complicated.

There’s a lot of validity to feelings of concern when a random person on the internet messages you with “where are you from?” Especially because the preceding message was most likely something passive aggressive along the lines of “wish I didn’t have to face warp pitch speeds” just because you agree with a madman doesn’t make it any less weird.

Wasn't talking to you Skepple, save your replies for when I actually @ you.

No thanks, I’ll reply where I see fit thanks!

Also, go back in our messages on your other account as to how dangerous it can seem asking someone where they’re from. I won’t bring it up but if you go back in our messages you’ll understand what I mean.

No clue what you're talking about and tbh I don't really care either. I came here only to say that Demise is right to complain about the state of networking infrastructure when it comes to this franchise and that it's pathetic how these buffoons jump his throat on every opportunity just because he brings up the same issue over and over again.

Because honestly the issue is not that big of a deal and it only comes up when he loses. He straight admitted it in this thread, when he won everything was all good. It’s been the same thing for 6 years if it’s that bad stop playing. Who’s forcing you to be here?

Anyone who messages someone asking where they’re from is definitely on the unstable side. To try and make excuses for it is crazy weird

Not a big deal because it obviously doesn't affect you. Like I said before, I'm not hungry but not ignorant enough to know that world hunger is not an issue for some people.

Asking where someone is from is unstable because I am curious about the matchmaking? Exaggerate much?

Because you’re asking a bunch of people where they’re from? And I’m sure giving your bs before or after, yea that’s unstable behaviour. How about if you don’t like it so much stop playing and go away. Plenty of people do, you clearly do not. Go do something else instead of clogging up the forums with your nonsense and asking people where they’re from.

So Skepple, I mean Canuckler beg pardon.. tell me, do you feel like the p2p quality in this franchise is good/acceptable and you have never been in a game where it is just impossible to time a fastball no matter what?

I have never had that happen, I’ve played guys with bad connections from DR, PR, Japan, but still been able to hit 🤷🏽‍♂️ sorry that you guys can’t

See now I know you're lying. Because I used to associate with a bunch of top players when I was still good at this game and they all mention this issue as a consistent and unpredictable variable in the online environment of this franchise which pretty much ruins the entire experience. I'm not gonna name drop here, but they are a lot more reputable than you are Ske, I mean Canuckler. All due respect of course. So each and everyone of these guys are just full of it I guess.

Also I never said it's literally impossible to hit. You just have to sell out on it which makes you extremely vulnerable to everything offspeed once they figure that out, which only takes half an inning if you're playing someone with a brain or some experience in this game.

with all due respect Raes - Skepple for years has been literally one of the best players in the world - to say his reputation is not as good as some others is insane - Skep is in the 1% of performance - i remember years past seeing him overall number 1 in events - we have known each other for years - you included

In events? Okay. That's awesome. I'm talking about guys who compete for the Summer and Fall circuits. Nothing against "The Canuckler" (he doesn't want to be called Skepple), I did say all due respect in my previous comment. That wasn't me being sarcastic.

i mean i referenced a singular type of thing here talking about how good Skep is - i am sure he plays at a high level in RS - you are trying to split hairs here diminishing what his skillset is - at the end of the day he is absolutely one of the best on this forum, and in game

why you guys are going back and forth i have no idea i just wanted to jump in with my 2 cents

Because he felt like interfering about something that doesn't concern him, replying to me when I did not mention him once. I'm sure he's able but don't use events as proof lol, I have been a top the events leader boards multiple times in the past and every time someone brings it up to flatter me I cringe because it literally means nothing.

you remind me of Mitch in a way - always downplaying great accomplishments - you say it means nothing and in reality you are correct in that ALL OF THIS means nothing - this is a videogame world to begin with - so i hear you it does mean nothing in the grand scheme of things - that all being said, what you and Skep have done and do are great accomplishments compared to the average MLB gamer

Mitch would never act like this lol

mitch was a whiney cringe baby who lost his mind and had other mental issues i am sure - a guy who was truly terrific at the game and always said how bad he was - analogous to being the best golfer in a 4some but then complaining to the other 3 all 18 holes - i personally enjoyed his wit and character - but he was overall a very negative dude - i prefer RAES even though he can be spicy sometimes

i've known some of you guys on this forum for years too so its weird to see you bicker

For me it was Christmas Day when he was still being a weird little cringe cry baby I knew he had something bothering him. For Skepple it was when he tried to get the FBI involved with JudgeistheGoat and for Rae it was everything.

The fbi involved? Lol what? the guy literally called my work phone and cell to threaten me. There’s random internet arguing than there’s taking things to a whole other level. I’d say some action was warranted.

Is that why you changed your username? How on earth does a random get a hold of hour work and cell phone number tho?

Because Skepple is my last name

Ah. Aren't there many Skepples around?

No It’s not a common name.

Gotcha. Guess I understand better now why it was an issue. See, we can be civilized.

You could have begun to be civil by not calling his name out repeatedly, just to be a [censored], after he asked for it to stop.

You view yourself as an objective fan trying to better the game but then come on here and let emotion and personal history run wild attacking or annoying the people who would need to be on your side to enact any real change.

I guarantee you would get a lot more reasonable people to take your complaints more seriously if you were in fact civil more often

He didn't ask for it to stop even once, just implied he didn't like it. So I'm not even gonna read the rest of your comment if you can't even make it past one sentence without spewing bs.

I accept that your wording is more accurate, but you still were able to infer his message and still chose to keep doing it in a way that I can't read as anything other than condescendingly. That's was my point. No snarky responses, no nitpicking something slightly off to completely dismiss a point being made that may or may not have merit, just stay out of the fray and let your logic stand for itself.

More important than taking an extra step lead to me has been waiting for a 2 ball count.
You can also steal 3rd with two outs pretty easily against the CPU with 70+ speed. In this case you can take a free extra step and go on any pitch. Even better if you have 1st and 2nd 2 outs with decent speed on 2nd. You get 2 steals and they always go for the lead runner

Yes, you just proved my point!
“Over a decent sample size” is not the short term.

No, you missed mine. You have a better chance at winning any given game by squaring the ball up more than your opponent. That does not mean you will win. Yes in the long run your results will likely regress to your expected win percentage, but that's because you will win the individual games you make better contact than your opponent a large majority of the time, but not always. There will be (fewer) times when you lose with a 75% expected win, but you'd expect that 1 out of every 4 times.

This is true, in the long term. In the short term, like over the course of one game, my experience unfortunately is that it is not. I’m sure we’ve all lost games where we’ve had more good swings than our opponents.
This is my biggest beef with the gameplay.

no, what they said is absolutely true in the short run. all they said is that it gives you higher odds of winning, which it does. you can still lose with better winning odds than your opponent.

So are you saying you’ve never lost a game to a player who had less good swings than you?

I honestly wish this was true.

no. you are just reading what you want to read rather than seeing what we are trying to say. you can lose a game like that, but the probability of it happening are lower than 50%.

for sake of this example lets say you match someone exactly equal skill. its a 50/50 chance going in who will win. if you square the ball up that game consistently more than your opponent, your win probability will increase. lets just call it 75/25 for the sake of simplicity. there is still a 25% chance you lose based on lucky breaks or timely clutch moments for the opponent. but if you out hit your opponents consistently over a decent sample size, you will win roughly the right number of games as you'd be expected to.

God I hope not lol. I like Ohtani IRL, but in this game he's nothing more than a fun card to use in conquest imo

Hes gotten a lot easier for most of us to hit but could very well have outlier sinker this year. Kind of like when they added his cutter (or splitter or whatever he added to his mix) made him tougher to face after 20

  • Congratulations, Mets!

If you want a serious answer and a serious discussion then perhaps you should consider posing a serious question. I didn’t read a word after the first sentence, and no one who would otherwise be interested in engaging in an objective, productive, open-minded discussion will read past that silly question either. You’re either going to get the ridiculous echo chamber hyperbolic responses about how this game is the worst plague ever set upon humanity, or you’ll get people purposely derailing what is clearly an antagonistic thread by engaging in some good old-fashioned trollsmanship.

If you think the game is as boring as that question implies, then why are you wasting your time on this game AND on this forum? When you look back on your life, aren’t you going to wish you had spent time doing things that actually being you joy and peace? If this game isn’t doing it for you, then I’ve got great news! There are a million other games out there, and odds are good that a lot of them will give you a good punch in the ol’ dopamine bone.

Go read a book or pet a dog or karate chop a baby. Whatever makes you happy. Because this game clearly doesn’t do it, and this kind of whineballing just gives you an excuse to wallow in your own unhappiness and it makes the community a more toxic, divisive, and miserable place.

And the white Sox just lost in the 10th to the tigers. So everything is terrible. Thanks.

jesus dude, I read that the first time as saying karate chop a dog and wondered how someone could be so cruel. then read it again, you're alright in my book pal.

  • And he's down on strikes. That's the second time today.
