Hey I’m new to MLB The Show, I’ve played it here and there but MLBTS21 was my first time playing it on a consistent basis. This year however I’m grinding and putting the work in. I want to learn some of the MLBTS lingo tho because I see veteran players talking about things like P5,T4,T5
I just want to get caught up and also know what they’re talking about. Any info would help and anything you feel I should know please lmk! Who knows maybe we get a game
P5 is parallel 5, FS is future stars, SS or sig is signature series, LS is live series. “F*ck SDS” usually means someone lost. Not sure what else I have I missed but that’s some of the lingo I use at least.

Did the Astros really win it in ‘17?

The amount of time people are wasting on the showdowns they could be done the PXP grind. The showdown takes a lot of luck, sht draft? No chance, Sht RNG rolls?, no chance. If you don’t get a run early in the showdowns, especially the first couple you are screwed, pitchers confidence is OP as hell, not like 99 Greinke needs it against my common Micheal Papierski.

They aren't going anywhere.
They can be frustrating a times but overall I don't mind them at all and kind of actually enjoy some of them.
Blasphemy!!! No one enjoys moment’s, there’s a special place in hell for whoever came up with the idea of moment’s!.

@trojansALLday55_XBL said in Congrats, the worst "show" ever made:
Everyone at SDS should be fired. Absolute dumpster fire of a game and not a single word from the company about how bad they've been this year. SDS should give up their licensing to someone who actually cares about baseball. And Ramone should never work on any sports title ever again.
Ramone doesn’t work on the game, he’s an overpaid hype man, think Flava Flav but worse.

@lckdb_XBL said in They should raise the stub cap on the next WS reward win:
I'm assuming the last World Series reward will be Retro Finest Randy. Unfortunately he will be 1 million stubs permanently with a huge waiting list, same as Trout and Walter J. I think I'm still probably somewhere between 60-80th in line for Walter J and I don't even want to use him...he's just for binder completeness.
For those of us that don't expect to make World Series (with only hardcore players still out there), the only option to get Randy will be to get in line on the auction house immediately or grind out hundreds of innings. I'm assuming anyone who makes it to World Series will want to keep and use him given stubs are close to worthless for anyone who already has Mantle.
I have almost 9 million stubs at this point (including bogus underbids and duplicates in my binder) and every card in the game other than Walter J. I would bid a full 5 million stubs to get Randy before the game ends...but chances are I won't ever get to play with him.
Or you could just play 250 innings, and save the stubs. Yea its a grind and people in RS are typically the scum of the universe but if you go into it just trying to grind innings its not to bad.

@SchnauzerFace_MLBTS said in How to Fix Moments in MLB:TS 23 -- Heroes vs. Villains program path.:
I don’t hate moments, but they are a missed opportunity. Over the past few years, we’ve all seen consistent complaints: they’re repetitive, some “moments” are essentially full games, grinding moment after moment ultimately feels pointless, and the “moments” SDS has chosen are completely forgettable and unremarkable. I think this plan could fix most (if not all) of these problems.
We have 140+ years of historically noteworthy “moments” in MLB history, but we are only ever asked to recreate meaningless scenarios. Pitch one inning with some middle reliever and get a strikeout. Get 2 XBH with some slapwiener. Big deal.
For this idea to work properly, it would need to be a yearlong process that tallies points every time you complete a mission. A full year-long Moments Reward Path Program, I guess. But the hook is that it would branch out in two separate reward paths. A “Heroes” path and a “Villains” path.
Each moment would ask us to replay a BIG moment in baseball history. Mookie Wilson’s grounder in the 86 WS. Carlton Fisk’s walk-off in 75. The last inning of Don Larsen’s perfect game. You get the idea.
Before each moment starts, you have to choose if you want to recreate history or change it. If you recreate history, you get hero points. If you change it, you get villain points.
Example: It’s the 88 WS, and Kirk Gibson is hobbling up to the plate. If you choose to play for Hero points, you play as Kirk and you need to hit the HR in order to complete the mission. If you want to play for Villain points, you play as Eckersley and you need to strike him out.
I think it would only be fair to allow us to play each moment both times so we can get Hero AND Villain points. But it would be an interesting wrinkle if you could only do it once. So you would need to decide early in the year if you’re going for the ultimate end-game Hero reward (and a ton of hero henchman along the way) or if you want to spend the full game cycle rewriting history and working toward the Villian rewards.
The end-game Hero reward could be a 99 Griffey. The end-game Villain reward would be 99 Joey Votto.
I think this would fix most of our complaints about Moments:
1.) They're repetitive. Of course you'll still be hitting a lot of walk-offs and striking out a lot of dudes in the bottom of the 9th. But I think setting the moments throughout all of MLB history -- with different teams, players, uniforms, parks, etc -- could add to the variety a bit. And, I think this next point is important too...
2.) They're meaningless and not noteworthy. hitting a HR with Andrew Vaughn is, like, whatever. It's just a thing that happened in a game that no one cares about. Hitting Mazeroski's walk-off HR just feels a million times more exciting.
3.) They're pointless. Give us a full year-long program to work toward. When I grind through the program moments this year, I just go on autopilot and forget about what's happening on the screen. And when I get through all the good rewards, there's no point in doing moments. It's August, guys. I'm not grinding through 10 moments to get a little closer to a 5-pack of standard TS packs.
4.) They're too long. If SDS is truly choosing noteworthy moments then this is going to solve itself. Also, the Hero/Villain concept prevents them from giving us obnoxious missions, like Strike out 11 batters in 6 innings" or whatever. Focus, SDS! Focus!
And as an added bonus, giving us a huge yearlong program to work toward gives us something to do between featured programs. Once most of us get through the really good rewards, we stop caring. This gives us a big project to work on between featured programs.
Also, who wouldn't want to play as Bill Buckner and get the glove down for real this time, or strike out that fat smug Babe Ruth as he calls his shot, or break up Kershaw's no-hitter in the 9th inning?
Anyway. Moments! They could be better.
When they initially released moments it was to recreate historical moments in baseball history. They just took it and tied it to Topps Now then went completely overboard with them. They are literally just a boring waste of time, energy and patience.

@arvcpa_MLBTS said in Your preparation for EXTREME:
I did make it through my one and only EXTREME in 2020. It was not easy for me. When I got my 4th XBH with Gehrig, I passed out from sheer exhaustion. I'm assuming the worst for 2022.
I think I'll set up my gaming area like a spa to keep calm. Scented candles, a water feature, some Enya.
More practically, I should soundproof the room so my wife doesn't hear my screams of anguish.
What are you doing?
I might just skip the extreme program and just listen to Enya all weekend.

@Blind_Bleeder said in NMS Question:
So, if I use my reward points from my credit card (no money, just the points) to buy some PS gift cards and then use those to buy stubs, is it still no money spent?
Is this too much of a grey area?
(for the record, I am not no money spent...I have dropped about $50 outside the cost of the game this year).
Who cares man? Lol if you got it and want to spend it do it!. I usually spend heavy on this game but since I was unjustly banned from these forums I won’t give them a dime.
-
@Blind_Bleeder said in NMS Question:
Thanks, guys. I know it is a personal thing and not important at all. I'm thinking of saving my points up for next year to buy the game and some stubs, all on reward points. Then I can genuinely be NMS (yes, for personal satisfaction) and see how things go.
The post is primarily out of curiosity to see where the community draws the line.
Don’t worry about what the community thinks, it’s your money, your time, spend it how you want. Except on packs, just don’t spend your money on packs.

@mightytapir_PSN said in This game won’t last:
Personally I would have preferred they went in the completely opposite direction. Cap out the rewards at 85s to start. That would make silvers, golds, and live series players actually have a purpose other than for collections (they might as well be hats or jerseys). And when you got that first diamond, it would feel like an accomplishment. If you pulled a diamond, it would feel like a huge win. Call me crazy, but it seems like that would be a fun game.
The community has been quite vocal about how SDS has capped out rewards early on and nerf what should be good cards (April POTMs for example) just to meet these requirements. SDS has listened to the community, thought outside the box when it comes to how to improve on the fantasy card-collecting type of modes of sport games. We understand that you may not like it, but the majority of the community asked SDS to come up with something different and they did.
Not sure if you can speak on behalf of the community nor that the "majority of the community asked them to". Some will like it, some won't.
I'm not speaking on behalf of the community, the community has been speaking for itself over the past several years.
This is a ridiculous comment. Of course you’re speaking for the community. That’s literally exactly what you did. Which is fine, but own it.
You are truly stubborn in your ways, my friend. You came to wrong place to get your confirmation bias needs here! All you have to do is check out the history of this community forum, all the other community forums on this game, and the history of social media articles on this game to find out the majority voice about this topic. Either you learn to enjoy the game or not is your choice. I am willing to bet your prediction of this game not lasting is not going to pan out like you think. I wish you happiness in life, my friend, and maybe you should go enjoy something other than this video game in order to find that happiness!
It’s definitely common knowledge that the start of the year and using lower rated cards is considered to be the best part of the game. Creating a false narrative isn’t going to change peoples minds.
That is funny you say that and that is completely false since an opinion cannot be "common knowledge"!
The game has always played better without 100+ attributes.

@NCStateHokie_PSN said in Event parameter Ideas?:
Events and the lack of originality for the parameters has been a huge letdown for me this year. Ranked Seasons is there for people to use the best cards. I have enjoyed events in the past because they used to have neat parameters or requirements when it came to the lineups.
What are some parameters you've enjoyed in the past or some ideas for future events that you think are pretty unique or would be fun?
LS only event would be fun, with a max of 2-3 diamonds allowed on your squad.

Is the Griffey Jr. moment a bit of troll job by SDS? 8 HR’s in 8 games with a “sh*t jr. card”?
For the record I am enjoying the second half Jr.
I got 2 in the first game. Let's see if I can keep this going! 2 a game!
Although I don't promote dashboarding, newbies can dashboard out if you're about to go homerless in your current game.I promote dashboarding multi game moments lol
