So this is a theory I've had for a few years. Typically at launch the gameplay mechanics, with regard to hitting and batted balls, plays pretty well. The game is fun, there's a lot of variety in batted ball and hit types, and there tends to be more non-HR XBH and runners on. As the year progresses, it seems that batted balls and hitting outcomes are more stingy and the game feels "off". The game becomes increasingly devoid of offense, with HRs being the main source of offence sprinkled in between a lot of flyballs that used to be XBH. My belief is that this is due to the influence of high diamonds and in particular the effect of high H/9 and HR/9 stats needed to balance the hitting attributes of high diamond position players.
I'm consistently a NMS player, and I'm still using cards that I used from launch including TN Yermin Mercedes and LS Muncy. These cards who once hit very well for me are not generating a whole lot. This is understandable in the sense these cards are "obsolete", but there remains one big issue: with the same timing and PCI positioning, batted ball outcomes are drastically different. That is to say for the same batter, I can hit the same sinker down and away, pretty much dead center of the PCI, and with good timing, and watch what used to be a no doubt home run be consistently a routine fly-ball out. Similarily, POTM Byron Buxton when released was routinely hitting HRs on anything even with poor PCI placement, but now is playing like a normal card.
That makes no sense.
In addition to the batted ball outcomes, I suspect that the overall increase in fielding stats of players that get released throughout the season only help to contribute to diminished BABIP as groundballs and gappers turn into outs, and increased range shortens ABs by way of foul outs.
Curious what you guys think of this. In years past it was blamed on patches, but I'm starting to believe it's the effect of unusually high attributes causing the game mechanics to play differently.

I largely stopped playing because this game isn't fun. With the end of the program approaching, I've been trying to make a push to collect stars before the end of the program. In the last 24 hours, the following plays happened:
A homerun I hit that didn't even go over the wall: https://youtu.be/VJEe-SXmw74
Granderson camped under the flyball for the final out, lets it fall in letting the tying run cross the plate: https://youtu.be/PgGfy0Gdf4k
Runner takes a big turn at second, should be thrown out. SS and 2B are playing tummy sticks and nobody is covering the base for the throw behind the runner: https://youtu.be/ki4ozU8uKNU
Ozzie Albies at second commits to trampling the ball into the ground. Can't touch it, cause it might have COVID: https://youtu.be/nqbnwRH9uSc
Adelberto Mondesi (POTM) is gunned down on a very deep flyball. Doesn't touch the plate because... COVID? https://youtu.be/yTmOjkjsP3E
This doesn't include the screen shot of TYLER F'ING O'NEIL hitting a bomb over the bullpen on a CONTACT SWING with the ball NOT IN THE PCI. Same with POTM Didi, but at least he has pop. But this isn't even uncommon.
This all happened in 24 hours. I came to the conclusion... is the game is this [censored] up, why am I bothering to grind out program stars? This is beyond bad...

Wow the nitpicking from casuals is comical, its not like you see this every game..prolly not even in 20 or 30 games. Its a video game noobs, stuff like this will happen and stuff like this needs patching...its only May....calm down and go have a hot pocket.
Did I not post all occurred in a 24h period? I'd say the only comical thing is your trolling attempts on these boards but it's more pathetic than anything. It speaks volumes about who you are and how you live your life.

It’s bad, but it’s far from the worst. We’ve had years where you couldn’t log in. The year where event wins didn’t accumulate across runs. Freeze offs every time a batter is walked. Considering the client base potentially doubled today with Xbox users coming on, it could’ve been worse.
I was hopeful that with welcoming the XBox platform SDS would get it's ducks in a row, and boy was I ever wrong.
I'm not sure what they were thinking... this is going to be you first impression to a whole community of gamers who've been shut out from a baseball game. And then lo and behold, they pay $100 and their redeem codes aren't activated and they can't play anyways because of the server issues.
There's an expression about first impressions and I imagine SDS has lost themselves a boatload of cash they could have kept making if they got the severs right for just this one month. -

This take ain’t it, saying they don’t care is like saying EA is a good company. They clearly care, it just isn’t as easy as you think it is to fix server issues. Be patient.
I agree with your overall POV but at lot of this frustration could be mildly alleviated with a side acknowledgment by them that they are aware, working on it, and hope to have a resolution soon - maybe even an estimated timeline.
PR 101. Even a college intern know this.
I mean, they truly don’t owe any of us anything.
I have to disagree friend. They owe us a game that is playable. No more no less...
They didn’t make you buy the game.
Just to understand your position here: You believe SDS is not owed to provide a functioning game to buyers after inducing them to buy said game with the understanding it works?

Just FYI -- The "Throwback" 1989 Cleveland Indians uniforms -- which are famous because of the "Major League" movie franchise -- are not accurate in the game.
I get that SDS would never use the real logo that appeared on that uniforms hat -- Its a dang logo but it might offend someone. God forbid. (Or it may be banned from official use by the MLB for all i know)
BUT THEN DONT INCLUDE THE UNIFORM.
Rewriting history by CHANGING the uniform and including a version that NEVER EXISTED is is dishonest.
Either include the whole uniform as it existed or dont....but changing it and then using it to make money while never mentioning that its not really the 1989 uniform is dishonest..
If you cant use the logo because of MLB rules...just say so. If you did it because of your own sensibilities...have the guts to say that too.
Or just dont use a uniform that is not acceptable to current standards.
People deserve better than to be spoon fed, a sanitized, fake version of baseball.
IMHO
Natives deserve better than being a mascot. [censored] you, how about that?
Do you also protest Notre Dame Fighting Irish? Their logo is a cartoon caricature drawing of a funny looking short squatting irishman with two fists up...
I'm Irish and I'm not upset by it, you know why? It's a cartoon caricature.
You know who isn't upset about indian team names and logos? My wife who is native american. Why? Because it's a cartoon, and she's tried of people being offended on her behalf.
The fact is they did alter history, if they don't want it in the game then just don't put those uniforms in the game... That simple. But re-designing their old uniforms? That's messed up and next level historical revision.
Finding someone who has indigenous heritage who isn't offended doesn't mean she doesn't get to speak on behalf of all of them.

The variant is ravaging Vegas I'd stay and wait out this w if I were you that's wayyy safer than risking your life for stupid family and friends time
Odds of dying from delta-variant of COVID-19 when vaccinated: 1:27,000
Odds of being struck by lightening: 1:15,300
Someone is nearly twice as likely to be struck by lightening than they are to die from the Delta Variant!
I'd say going to Vegas to see friends and family is not "risking your life"!!!

Somehow I get the impression that your background in math is suspect, and the odds you stated are not calculated by any accepted method.

I enjoy a game or two but I've realized the game gets stale and frustrating if you play it too much. It's fun for a few hours but not as a game to completely dive into.
-
It's frustrating these days to work in research. Pretty much, you devote your life to becoming an expert to help advance humanity, innovating things which enhance people's quality of life. And then, to use an extreme example, some dickhead tells you the earth is flat and the moon landing was faked, even though he's using a cellphone which relays data using satellites, who's engineers have to account for the curvature of the earth and angular velocity as they orbit it.
If you don't trust doctors and scientists enough as experts in what they do, please do us all a favour and recluse from society and leeching off all we contribute.

The 1:27,000 came from the CDC (which I would say they do unacceptable calculations due to calling deaths from car accidents and shootings to be included at Covid deaths which would make that number much larger!)
The 1:15,300 came from the National Weather Service and their stat for being struck by lightening over an "80-year lifetime"
You should probably look up information yourself and not rely on the boobtube to tell you what to believe!
But, hey, if you want to be paralyzed by the fear-mongering of your masters, you be you!
Also, I was a nuclear engineer, so I'm pretty confident in my math skills!
Can't argue with bubbleheads and lemmings about covid, vaccinations, masks, or politics. They've learned all they need from the media and it's the truth, 'cause the media says so..
But, bottom line, most are just high-level narcissists that are so phobic and terrified (thanks to their fearmongering media) of any potential harm coming to themselves they would cover themselves in feces daily if the media said strong repugnant odors keep away microscopic bugs. And, obviously, never question it because their terror is so deep they can't recognize logic or the absence of anymore. That's how mind control works.
Surely not the ones I would want on my side if things got real. Just too many [censored]-cats in this world. Well, about half of this country. Thank God for the other half.
It's funny. I work at a national laboratory and where I live is a small community where mainly everyone is a research scientist or engineer. At work, you can guess who "doesn't believe in COVID". It's the utility workers, the drivers, security staff. Go figure.
It's obviously inhumane, but I feel like those who espouse view such as yours... Well go right ahead. You guys should get a card or a tattoo to identify yourselves. If you ever show up at a hospital with COVD-related medical issues, you should be promptly denied any care. It would also be nice if we could make a nice little commune for the unvaccinated. I like to think of it as a case-study in vaccine efficacy.
I suppose you see nothing ethically wrong with that, because it's overblown, vaccines don't work, you're healthy and don't need to worry, etc.
Look, I know what your misguided rhetoric is trying to suggest..only "da dummies" and lower-level lifeforms argue with the media and deny. Well, nothing could be farther from the truth.
You do realize that, as recently as early July, the majority (over 50%) of those employed by CDC were not vaccinated.
It's the people that are very well researched and educated by sources other than the lying media that make the decisions to forego a vaccine that, apparently, isn't very effective (just follow the list of athletes that have been vaccinated and then get the bug).
And, the only reason you see these instances is because it's way too public to hide..even though they are trying. 9% of the "vaccinated" athletes have contracted the bug. I have yet to see an instance of a non-vaccinated athlete getting the bug. And there are many of them, but their agents encourage them to keep their personal preferences on the down-low because of the cancel culture in the media.
Look, if you believe in the vaccine and masks and all that...good for you. at least half the country does not. 10 years from now we could probably all revisit this issue with a lot more clarity, understanding, and absence of heated emotion.
"Employed" by the CDC means mothing. As I mentioned about my workplace, the CDC likely has more support staff - HR, payroll, security, administrative assistants, editors, etc. on payroll than they do scientists. If your product is data and reports, how many scientists do you think it takes to produce that as compared to the amount of staff needed to make an entire organization function?
I am willing to be if you looked at those who work directly in R&D, especially engineers and scientists, the number would exceed 80%.
And they also have doctors, nurses, scientists, and other assorted eggheads that are part of that 50%. I took my 93-year-old Grandpa to the doctor a few weeks back for a checkup. He doesn't believe in the vaccination.
So, when his doctor (had his practice for 35 years) asked him if he wanted the vax Grandpa said no and in his cantankerous way added "it's all bullshot". The MD laughed and said "I don't blame you, I'm not getting it either".
Sister-in-law just retired 1 month ago as an ER RN. She doesn't believe in the vaccine and says "the majority" of physicians she knows personally that confide said they aren't getting the vaccine either. For a variety of reasons. But, these guys ain't broom-pushing janitors or mop-jockeys as you like to demean. When I see cats like this that should be in the know refuse the vax. Makes me believe I'm prob making the right decision myself.
Could send you a pic of a friend of mine that developed Bell's palsy one week to the day after getting the 2nd Moderna. It's him with acupuncture needles in his face (his 8th session) trying anything to fix the paralysis he's had for the last 6 months. He hasn't been able to close his eyelids for 6 months..That, to me, is a bummer. His wife at the very same time one week after 2nd dose started developing symptoms of MS and was diagnosed with having MS.
I always gotta go with my instincts and those experiences that I personally know of. I've never known anyone that has been hospitalized with Covid. I've known a dozen or so that have tested positive with asymptomatic Covid.
Even one close buddy that couldn't taste doritoes for about a week. And couldn't smell his grill when he was cooking up brisket. Which was a semi-bummer for him, but he pulled through it with no scars.
I, personally, have been all over the country since the "scamdemic" broke. Been on the packed beaches of Southern Fla. Been on the packed shores and boats in the Ozarks during 4th of July weekend 2020. I've been in several jumping bars. 3 SRO baseball games this year. Probably many more instances of "putting my life on the line", but I fear Covid about like I would the flu.
The flu kills. I had SARS a few years back, kicked my [censored] pretty bad. But I sure as heck ain't going to let my fear of anything make me mask up and cower in fear, locked down, away from my family and friends, because the lying media says I should.
That's all I have to say. I'll re-hash this 'ol stale line. You do you..I'll do me.
I'm sure you can grasp this, but the anecdotal evidence of a doctor and a nurse who don't want to get vaccinated is fairly meaningless. Besides the fact we already know not all doctors and all nurses would get the vaccine, we know resoundingly the consensus opinion is they support and encourage people to go get vaccinated. This isn't up for debate - it's an objective fact.
Notwithstanding, it's anecdotal evidence, and from your "catfishing" thread, I think it's safe to say your credibility is suspect and you were received as a kook, irrespective of your views on COVID and vaccines.

Plus FIFA has a massive auction house that totally dwarfs what The Show has with upwards of 12 million items individually listed during peak hours every day throughout the first month at least.
FIFA HAS NO SERVER ISSUES FROM DAY 1. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
HOW MANY YEARS HAS FIFA BEEN DOING MULTIPLE PLATFORM RELEASES?
HOW MANY CONSECUTIVE YEARS HAS THE SHOW HAD SERVER ISSUES AT LAUNCH WITHOUT CROSS-PLATFORM PLAY?
