They should have done the opposite... turned all sinkers into 2-seamers and tweaked hitting from there. It's dumb when I don't want to use a pitcher without a sinker because that pitch is such an outlier.

Similar thing happened to me. Was winning in the 5th inning and my opponent let the timer run out. Then got a notice that the game was forfeited. Reported the game to SDS. Frustrating!!
I couldn't report it because it didn't even show up in my game history.

I just won 6-5 in 12 innings in RS. At the end of the game, the post game screen said we tied 6-6 and then it popped up and said the game ended due to a friendly quit. What the heck!!!

This is exactly why I have no problem with faster pitch speeds. It needs to be fast enough to the point where fastballs aren't super easy to hit. Otherwise we'll have another Slow Pitch Softball 18
Are you on a monitor?
Yes. I know I have an advantage playing on a monitor, but the equipment you use is important for any game. You need a monitor to be successful at shooter games too. You need a good PC and wired connection for most PC games. I know there is a divide in the community when it comes to this but there's just no way around it.
And for what its worth, I think pitch speeds are fine right now. I can react to a fastball easily if I'm sitting on it, but if I'm looking off speed and a 100 mph heater comes instead, I'm gonna be late on it
And to be clear, I’m not docking you or the OP for having a monitor. If I had the space in my house, I would have one. But, the original post is about how fastballs are useless and too slow. You made a comment about the divide, but that divide is only for less than 10 percent of the player base. Now, on this forum, that percent is much higher, because these are players that are competitive and love this game.
I’m just trying to say that fastballs are useful against 90 percent of the player base, even On all star difficult. As the good players level up in ranked, so do the pitch speeds. They might be useless against good players on monitors as you work your way up. But, they are probably useful if you make it to legend difficulty in rs.
I would buy a monitor because it would make fastballs look slower, but then I can’t then say I don’t like slow fastballs. I know that’s not what you’re saying, but that is how these threads are interpreted by guys like me. This game is not a pc game. So, in my opinion, it shouldn’t HAVE to be played on a pc monitor to enjoy it. If fastballs were amped up, enjoyability would drop for a large chunk of the player
I think that fastballs can be useful even for monitor players. You just have to know when to mix it in to keep your opponent off balance. The main thing is that sinkers are so much faster that there isn't a need to throw a 4 seamer for many pitchers
Sure, you can "mix them in" but in real baseball it is the primary pitch that everything else is based on for most pitchers. The biggest tell for me is, what is the pitch I like to hit the most? It's one of two things: hanging slider or fastball.

Is that the 4 seam fastball is the worst pitch in the game.
It disrupts all realism in choosing pitchers and in pitching strategy.
Sinkers appear to move faster than fastballs. Some have argued about spin rate making it seem that way, but the spin on a 4 seamer should be faster than any other pitch.
I don't know if it's spin, timing windows, or what, but...
Make 4 seamers great again.
Very few major leaguers throw a 'straight; 4-seam fastball. Maybe kershaw and buehler and guys who throw over the top but Gerrit cole throws a 98 mph running fastball. They honestly should add that pitch in the game or just rename the sinker as a running fastball because I think 1-2 MLB starters actually throw sinkers and those historic pitchers were NOT throwing 95 mph sinkers as those are physically impossible haha. They were realistically probably 86 mph sinkers that were really fastballs that had late dip because they couldnt break 90
I've argued that the 4 seamer should move so I'm happy to see you say that. There are a few guys that throw sinkers that hard. Jordan Hicks throws a sinker over 100. That said, I agree with you, four seamers should move and I think that would make the game much better. It's really too bad when guys like Cole are just not good in the game.

Do you play on a monitor? If not, good for you. I play on a tv and you might be able to shut me out if you can spot fastballs all game. 90 percent of my opponents are the same way. It’s only when I see a World Series banner that I know I really have to be smart with my fastballs.
Yeah, I'm on a monitor and I'm a WS and 12-0 player. I sparingly use four seamers. I think four seamers are the easiest pitch to hit.

You'd have 8000 people playing the game.
As opposed to what now because everyone I talk to says the game is boring and unrewarding. In the 22 team league im in we have gone through like 30 guys already and its not even half way though the season. That just speaks volumes to the fact the game isnt worth anyones time and no one wants to play it
If people are getting mercy ruled every game they aren't going to play. Something like 8% of the online player base plays on HoF difficulty. They can't exclusively design the game for those people.
This is before we even get started on card attributes needing to matter.
I'm not saying the game is perfect. They need to make hitting more rewarding. But making it purely skill based would be a bad idea, especially going to new platforms.
Yeah, I think this is basically what you are saying but I would be more okay with lesser players getting randomly rewarded if my perfect perfects weren't lineouts somewhat consitently.

I'm not sure if I'm alone, but it's frustrating the sinker is so much better than every other pitch. Chapman throws 102 and I still use his sinker more than his fastball. How does this get fixed? Add slight movement to 4sfbs? Even if they don't scientifically rise, batters say they look like they do so should they rise or have slight movement in the direction of the spin? That, coupled with sinkers losing movement when thrown high might help I think. Thoughts?
-
Oh nevermind, you get to pick from 3. One of mine was a "quit/disconnect" though. What caused that? Was it because I had an opponent quit? Seems not right.
-
So I went 12-0 and I could only pick from Smoltz and Evans. Are they "retiring" flawless rewards this year? Last year I feel like you could pick whoever you wanted.

I was really good with Catfish last year. I'd be okay with that. Good speed differentials, smooth delivery, great control.

Here's another question. Why is Lux rated lower than most of the affinity FS cards? He's like, the 2nd best prospect.

A constantly recharging XP bar for a 20 bundle would be great. Make it equivalent to 10 Prestige Levels and have it reset every time.
Yes, just something would be great. Happy to hear the prestige level will take a while though.

They have Riley Greene who is their best prospect and raked already in spring training and they chose a trash prospect in Dax Cameron. I don’t speak on your teams farm system acting like I know what I’m talking about.
Am I wrong to think they went with players who will be in the majors within the next 1-2 years? I'm wondering if that would explain why they didn't go with Greene. When they originally created future stars, they said they were projecting 3 years out. I think they've differed from that now obviously, but did they choose any prospects that were super young?
After all, they have to keep new options open for future years... I'm fine with the same FS for mutltiple years but idk if everyone is.

Two guys similar to his stats for free in this new update. Vidal Brujan and Andres Gimenez look the same and have way more speed. They’re both free!
Me too, but to be fair, unless you are new to the game, you had to know a 91 wouldn't last. That said, I don't know why they even had to make them collection rewards. I would have liked to play with Dylan Carlson's card early on, but the collection wasn't worth it and now he wouldn't even make my team.

Please add more of a reason to get xp beyond the xp reward path. Whether it be bonus stubs or more content additions, or even packs. In past years once I've maxed out the xp reward path, I've looked at my aquired xp as worthless, which stinks. It'd be nice to have it worth something. A lot of people are at least gold already, so we'll have the reward path maxed out by June or July.

I agree. 900+ per mission was so much.

It was showing like 900 for some of the missions that now show 300. I think the 1200s got lowered to 750. Anyone else notice this?
