When do you normally have the LS collection completed by?
-
A couple months usually and I don’t flip. I don’t want to spend my time playing the game doing that.
-
I usually don't. I have only finished it once and that was the very end of one of the recent years when seasons were in effect because Live series prices tanked hard at the end of the year.
I don't flip, invest or play enough to earn the stubs needed. I don't think in all of my years playing that I have ever pulled the most expensive live series card from a pack.
-
Normally I finish it by mid / late May. For '25, i didn't complete until late January (stopped playing in late Oct and didn't start back until late January). I opened more packs than I ever have through programs, etc...just couldn't pull Ohtani, Judge, Witt, Marte or Ramirez. Hoping my pack luck is much better this year.

I think last year I was later in June, and I didn't flip for the first time since I started DD in 2020.
-
beginning/middle of may. Last year was a little different as they really drove prices of 89+ Diamonds up. So it may have taken me til June. I like many will not buy stubs. If Albert is the LS Collection, i'm definetly in no rush. Plenty of good righties. Don't get me wrong i love me some Albert but its not the same as Chipper in 21, or Randy, or Beltran. Its on par with whatever year Babe was the LS Collection. Great Card but not ground breaking.

You made the right call, at least if you're a flipper. By the time Ohtani's price went up, you could have turned that 348K into a couple of mill.
-
@MarioMendoza935_XBL Hold the high diamonds, sell the low diamonds. That threshold was 88 last year. Looks like there are 20 88+ this year, so I’m thinking that threshold might go back to 90 this year.
-
They could increase pull rates slightly and make it much more rewarding for players. Last year seemed abnormally bad for high end diamonds. Not saying they should be easier just not impossible either.
-
I might as well chime in here
I have never, and will never, prioritize the live series collection. Even when they put a huge Met reward behind it.
I know that by the end of the year live series prices will be cheap. If I get a sub 90 early on I'm selling it.I'm also the minority in that I don't have any real desire to use the "best" cards. If I play online this year Ill be in the 500 range where meta is irrelevant anyway and enjoy the game far more using some kind of themed team (mlb team, all cards from same series, etc). I also only use live series the first week or two when we have no choice. So I'm not the target audience for the live series collections anyway.
I do try to collect all the cards though, so by May I'll keep the diamonds and at some point I buy the last few cards I need.
And for 2025 I pulled Ohtani in February, bought Judge to finish the collection, and then pulled Judge two days later...

@GoozeFn_PSN how do you check when you got him?
-
@Bicarbonate_Fury_PSN I had a picture in my phone that I sent to my brother to [censored] him off.

2025: Last week.
24: August
23: Late August/Early September
22: July(my flips landed YUGE that year)
21: DNF
20: DNF
19: I think was October.
Can’t really remember beyond that
-
I will always remember when I was able to complete the live series collection in 25 because it was the day that my grandmother passed away August 5th, as for the other games I have no clue when I finished it other than I know that I did
-
Last year, my priority early on was getting Clemens (AL collection) as fast as possible, I got him in time for the first Weekend Classic. Then I had Beltran by the 2nd one, not spending any money to do so and not really flipping other than getting to the xp bosses really fast and selling, then buying them back when prices drop. This year, I’ll probably buy some stubs to get Albert faster.
-
@DanH35_XBL If you want to complete the collection, the cheapest way is always to buy the most expensive cards first.
-
So here is my testimony,
So i have played every year of MLB the show. I didnt start DD until 2021. I was always a franchise RTTS player before that. My first year of DD, i spent money and bought stubs. Bought packs. I'm not joking i probably spend 500+$ on stubs that first year. would have spent far less if i would have just bought cards. Once i pieced it all together by the end of the year, nope no more buying stubs. My one and only year and it was a costly learning lesson. lol -
First week of April for me. The only money spent is $100 on release for stubs to invest with. I have every card in the game now except extreme Elly because I am now 0/7 on Santana in the DQ. I’m trying one more time then I’ll admit defeat.
-
because I am now 0/7 on Santana in the DQ.
Ooofff. That's rough...
