No I fully understand MLBs rules
You're allowed to gamble and lie if you're foreign. You're allowed to juice up. You're allowed to beat your wife or women. And you're allowed to do drugs IN A GAME confess to it afterwords and still not be banned from MLB.I fully understand. Don't ever say I don't.

You're arguing that the rules are not fairly implemented over the last 3 decades or sowhich is a fair argument, but those other cases don't change the facts of the Rose case. .
Here are the actual rules....
Below, the complete text of the league's gambling policy under Rule 21.
(d) GAMBLING.
(1) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has no duty to perform, shall be declared ineligible for one year.
(2) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform, shall be declared permanently ineligible.
(3) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee who places bets with illegal book makers, or agents for illegal book makers, shall be subject to such penalty as the Commissioner deems appropriate in light of the facts and circumstances of the conduct. Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee who operates or works for an illegal bookmaking business shall be subject to a minimum of a one-year suspension by the Commissioner. For purposes of this provision, an illegal bookmaker is an individual who accepts, places or handles wagers on sporting events from members of the public as part of a gaming operation that is unlawful in the jurisdiction in which the bets are accepted. He broke Rule #2. He got the described penalty. And as mentioned it does not mention "For Life" it says "shall be declared permanently ineligible". It does not mention that it is OK if he is betting on his team to win. It does not specify a difference between a player or a manager.

Pete Rose was banned from baseball for “life”. That was his punishment. He has passed on, therefore, MLB should honor him and put him in the HOF. The sentence was “life”. That’s over. Move on and honor a man’s career now.
But until MLB does the right thing for his family, his legacy, and his fans, we will not see SDS (they don’t have his rights) or MLB players honoring him.
The BAN is over.
I think @SaveFarris_PSN pointed this out earlier... I believe the ban is actually deemed "permanently ineligible". So, his death doesn't mean the ban is over.

Ohtani may or may not have been involved
The interpreter/financial manager(what ever he was) may or may not have been scapegoated
The interpreter was also guilty on his own
He did do things with Ohtani s money that he wasn't supposed to, probably got him to sign stuff allowing him to do it without telling him exactly what it was, just cause he can speak English doesn't mean he can read or write it(especially since they have a different written language)
just because he can speak English doesn't mean he doesn't need an interpreter, I've known ppl whose parents came to this country as kids and have been here for 30+ years and still aren't comfortable with English.
MLB cleared Ohtani, wether he got away with it or not we will never know, but he was officially cleared.
Rose was not, he did it, they proved it, and he did eventually admit to it.
as for the other, we are in agreement about the PED stuff, they didn't punish anyone because it brought fans back to the game after the strike nearly killed baseball, they punish them now and didn't then when they should have and yes that is a travesty. -

And you are right and being fair. I just get heated because I've grown up around people (old timers of baseball) who really support the Hit King.
And in today's age we have let gambling go so [censored] far it's now ingrained into every organization. And for some reason we still treat rose as if he's the biggest criminal in rigging games.
I personally think it should have been lifted many years ago. The Reds have decided to honor him their own way but unfortunately that's the limit for him. -

I personally think Rose should still be in the HOF but saying "He bet on his team to WIN" has to be one of the stupidest attempts at reasoning i've seen in the forums. Betting for his team to win opens up a whole other can of worms and more investigations from MLB. Was Rose working with someone? Did he reach out to an opposing coach and offer a cut to bench a star player, pull an ace early or leave a bullpen arm in longer than he should? Maybe there was an opposing player who saw an increase in defensive errors when playing against Rose. A middle of the rotation pitcher that had a lot of bad games when playing against the Reds.
Far too many scenarios to go through. Its easier for MLB to just blame Rose and be done with it.
My brother in Christ, this investigation already happened. He even linked the 228 page court documents. You can answer every one of those questions yourself.
The "betting on his team to win" argument was literally used since the beginning. So saying it's the dummest shows your lack of understanding to the situation and what sports betting is. It doesn't open up any can of worms. It's literally the point a defense that he wasn't rigging games to win that he had influence over. If he believed his team could win he bet. If he didn't he didn't bet. He still played and played hard. He's the Hit King after all. Goodness gracious.
I really think you're just BJDUBBYAH alt account at this point with how often you come to my posts to argue with me. I'm flattered yet again though it's definitely one those pick on me cause you have a BIG crush. You haven't stopped responding to people all day. Clearly you have a MASSIVE crush on the entire forum. Grow up and gtfo here, kid. Your point is moot. No one gives a [censored] about your tantrums. No amount of crying on the forums is gonna get Pete Rose in the HoF, just like no amount of crying about sets/seasons, gameplay, or threatening to quit playing the game is gonna change anything.

As long as that rule stays in the book as written then they don't have a lot of leeway to lift the ban.
From what I can see MLB does still acknowledge his record, at least it's on their website where he shows as the all time hits leader.

Daddy, chill! I'm getting hot.
It's a forum and sds has never spoken to me nor banned me. They clearly don't give a [censored] about my presence so you shouldn't either. You can block me that's still an available option for you.
I don't use social media. This IS my media. FAR more entertaining and enjoyable than any other app imo. I love it here. Many good people and many silly people (like you and myself). Do yourself the favor and get off the app or block me. Idc.
As much as I bash SDS they really do a good job for me in aspects like this forum. I learn alot. -

Yeah they've repeated the 4,200 + quite a bit but honestly I think because the Reds as an organization have still loved and supported him, for the most part, the MLB kind of has to acknowledge his presence and accomplishments.
Maybe you said this yourself idr, they let slide the Mark MacQuires if the league because the league was in trouble so they needed the fan money but, that's what set people off about Rose in the first place. Idk I wasn't alive during his reign nor was I old enough to truly develop an opinion. I just love the guy as an entertainer and ball player. Crazy immoralities outside the game aside, he did a good job for the sport. If he wasn't amazing at the sport this would never be a debate. -

Just a couple of points.

Steroids/PEDs are not an automatic lifetime ban according to the rules. Just ask Tatis Jr.
-
MLB itself did not punish McGwire but the BBWA sure punished him when it came to the HOF. He received just 12.3% of the vote in his final year of eligibility. They have also kept out Sosa and Bonds.

Well if AdeptofMemory thinks the ban should be lifted what are we doing fellas?
-
@mrCpops_PSN Don't see how you can say that when this game does so much to honor this game. The Negro Leagues storylines are just one example. (And a superb one at that.) But there are so many others. I think given their history that SDS would do something if they could.

Pete Rose is in Out of the Park Baseball.

Different game and most likely a different license deal.
Because Out of The Park Baseball is also a historical sim I believe they can use anybody who ever played for a team. The key here is that they don't use those players likenesses. They player picture in game may vaguely resemble the player but not exactly.
Because of that they may be allowed to use him because they are not paying him (or now his estate) any money to be in the game.
I believe they have Shoeless Joe Jackson as well.

Has anyone made a RTTS Rose character...... ?

Adults calling other adults "homie," "kid," "my brother in Christ," and "goober."
Really?

Strat-o-Matic has Rose and Bonds.
-
I am guessing that like Out Of The Park they don't use likenesses of the players and therefore the players make no extra money for being in the game. It's why these games will let you play any season from the past regardless of the players in the league at that time, because they don't have to pay them likeness rights.

@AdeptOfMemory_PSN
You do realize that betting on someone to win is still gambling. Doesn't change the fact that he was manipulating outcomes. Maybe he goes with a different lineup because he has money on game. Maybe he pulls a pitcher early to cover the spread. Or leaves a starter and presses him to injury in hopes of getting a W. If you change you normal routine because you have money on it, you are turning it from sports to theater -
