Where’s an honor to Pete Rose?!?!

@SaveFarris_PSN
Agreed.
Rose didn't bet against his team. What you're saying isn't true. "he didn't bet so that means he bet against." Dummest argument. -

I personally think Rose should still be in the HOF but saying "He bet on his team to WIN" has to be one of the stupidest attempts at reasoning i've seen in the forums. Betting for his team to win opens up a whole other can of worms and more investigations from MLB. Was Rose working with someone? Did he reach out to an opposing coach and offer a cut to bench a star player, pull an ace early or leave a bullpen arm in longer than he should? Maybe there was an opposing player who saw an increase in defensive errors when playing against Rose. A middle of the rotation pitcher that had a lot of bad games when playing against the Reds.
Far too many scenarios to go through. Its easier for MLB to just blame Rose and be done with it.

My brother in Christ, this investigation already happened. He even linked the 228 page court documents. You can answer every one of those questions yourself.
The "betting on his team to win" argument was literally used since the beginning. So saying it's the dummest shows your lack of understanding to the situation and what sports betting is. It doesn't open up any can of worms. It's literally the point a defense that he wasn't rigging games to win that he had influence over. If he believed his team could win he bet. If he didn't he didn't bet. He still played and played hard. He's the Hit King after all. Goodness gracious.
I really think you're just BJDUBBYAH alt account at this point with how often you come to my posts to argue with me. I'm flattered yet again though it's definitely one those pick on me cause you have a BIG crush. -
In the end it does not matter whether he bet for or against the Reds since the rule simply says you can't bet on baseball, period. He broke MLB's rules by betting on baseball and when caught he spent almost two decades denying it.
By betting on his own team he escalated the offense to a lifetime ban.

No, he was just rigging the games he didn't bet on by resting his stars.

This just in:
You're not allowed to rest good players. They have to play every game. -
If you're resting them because you've got a big series against the Yankees coming up, that's one thing.
If you're resting them because you didn't place a wager on today's game but you're doubling up tomorrow, that's another entirely.

SDS please lock this post it has gotten out of hand

I understand what you're trying to say but my point is MLB just decides who they want to punish.
Apparently resting your players is a tip off to a gambling and rigging offense worthy of a ban but taking artificial substances to boost your performance isn't considered rigging so you get to stay in good standing.Idk why you have to hate on my points that are literally the same points that other people have used 15 to 20 years before I was even born. You don't seem to care about any of the hypocrisy from the MLB. Pete Rose was targeted and used as a message to other players but if you make enough money and take enough drugs you're totally fine to rig the game to your advantage. Sure you MIGHT get a slap on the wrists but, you'll still get to join the players union and make it into games and other forms of entertainment the MLB makes money on. May even have a HoF spot.

You just don't understand that he will NEVER be in the hall of fame or the game and you don't understand that what he did was wrong

Pete Rose was banned from baseball for “life”. That was his punishment. He has passed on, therefore, MLB should honor him and put him in the HOF. The sentence was “life”. That’s over. Move on and honor a man’s career now.
But until MLB does the right thing for his family, his legacy, and his fans, we will not see SDS (they don’t have his rights) or MLB players honoring him.
The BAN is over.

Your assuming that life means his and not the life of mlb.
-
They use the term " banned for life" but if you read the rule it says permanently ineligible.
MLB would have to reinstate him, maybe in the future but I don't see them doing it anytime soon. -

No I fully understand MLBs rules
You're allowed to gamble and lie if you're foreign. You're allowed to juice up. You're allowed to beat your wife or women. And you're allowed to do drugs IN A GAME confess to it afterwords and still not be banned from MLB.I fully understand. Don't ever say I don't.

You're arguing that the rules are not fairly implemented over the last 3 decades or sowhich is a fair argument, but those other cases don't change the facts of the Rose case. .
Here are the actual rules....
Below, the complete text of the league's gambling policy under Rule 21.
(d) GAMBLING.
(1) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has no duty to perform, shall be declared ineligible for one year.
(2) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform, shall be declared permanently ineligible.
(3) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee who places bets with illegal book makers, or agents for illegal book makers, shall be subject to such penalty as the Commissioner deems appropriate in light of the facts and circumstances of the conduct. Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee who operates or works for an illegal bookmaking business shall be subject to a minimum of a one-year suspension by the Commissioner. For purposes of this provision, an illegal bookmaker is an individual who accepts, places or handles wagers on sporting events from members of the public as part of a gaming operation that is unlawful in the jurisdiction in which the bets are accepted. He broke Rule #2. He got the described penalty. And as mentioned it does not mention "For Life" it says "shall be declared permanently ineligible". It does not mention that it is OK if he is betting on his team to win. It does not specify a difference between a player or a manager.

I think @SaveFarris_PSN pointed this out earlier... I believe the ban is actually deemed "permanently ineligible". So, his death doesn't mean the ban is over.

Ohtani may or may not have been involved
The interpreter/financial manager(what ever he was) may or may not have been scapegoated
The interpreter was also guilty on his own
He did do things with Ohtani s money that he wasn't supposed to, probably got him to sign stuff allowing him to do it without telling him exactly what it was, just cause he can speak English doesn't mean he can read or write it(especially since they have a different written language)
just because he can speak English doesn't mean he doesn't need an interpreter, I've known ppl whose parents came to this country as kids and have been here for 30+ years and still aren't comfortable with English.
MLB cleared Ohtani, wether he got away with it or not we will never know, but he was officially cleared.
Rose was not, he did it, they proved it, and he did eventually admit to it.
as for the other, we are in agreement about the PED stuff, they didn't punish anyone because it brought fans back to the game after the strike nearly killed baseball, they punish them now and didn't then when they should have and yes that is a travesty. -

And you are right and being fair. I just get heated because I've grown up around people (old timers of baseball) who really support the Hit King.
And in today's age we have let gambling go so [censored] far it's now ingrained into every organization. And for some reason we still treat rose as if he's the biggest criminal in rigging games.
I personally think it should have been lifted many years ago. The Reds have decided to honor him their own way but unfortunately that's the limit for him.
