Arizona has grabbed the lead early tonight…they sure are playing some good ball!
Guess the Dodgers didn’t learn how to keep from getting colder than Antartica during their week off.
It is very frustrating, especially for the players...the FO has to do better. Being regular season warriors every year is not going to cut it. At least put up a fight in the post-season.
They should’ve been able to prepare for the time off this time. No excuses. Walk through games aren’t good enough.
Excellent point about them not being prepared. What do you do though?... The five day layoff or so, before the DS, seems to have a greater negative impact than I thought. The O's and Braves' bats have looked sluggish too.
I don't think that applies here, Texas was the top al team for awhile and even after there late season slide was still a top 5 offense and they were going against a team of young players in their first postseason.
The dodgers have a history of not doing good in the playoffs and it's a division rivalry
Same for the braves and Phillies, after June 3rd Phillies had the second best record in the NL (maybe MLB) Phil's and braves live beating up on each other and the Phils are just as much a powerhouse as the braves are,not to mention that in CBP history the Phils are 25-11 at home and last year didn't lose a home game until the WS.playoff games and series are a world different than regular season games, the teams that know that and are built for it- won. the Astros don't seem to have trouble with the days off, last year or this.

Ok, I do not disagree, but then what do you do if you are the FO? Give free agents, or draft prospects, a Mamba Mentality exam? I remember Freddy and Betts being pretty good in the Post Season for the Sox and Braves... I get the divisional opponent factor, but "not being built for the Post-Season" seems a bit obscure.

Not being built for it is an imperfect fit.
a better description might be: the 100 win team teams are built to dominate the marathon, the teams that won have pieces that can thrive in short series and that makes them a closer matchup than the regular season record would indicate.
Not to say the 100 win teams aren't good,in fact the phils braves and Astros seem to built for both, maybe it isn't as much of an upset as ppl seem to think, maybe the season champions underestimate them a bit and that leaves an opening to be ambushed( Astros don't seem to have this problem)..... -
It’s all playing out so beautifully….I love me some playoffs! WS rematch in the making? As Bugs Bunny would say…”meeeeeh….(crunch crunch crunch) it’s a possibility”

It is what it is until MLB expands post season by 2 more teams. I’m sure they don’t like having the teams with bye rounds getting bounced at such a high rate. Last year 2 of 4 got bounced. This year it’s 2 of 3 and looking like it’ll be 3 of 4.

I am not sure the MLB cares as much about that as they care about large market teams making it to the WS.
If, for example, the Yankees and Dodgers each were wildcard teams I could almost guarantee that MLB would want those two teams to advance to the WS before two Division winners from smaller markets.

Considering they wanted 8 playoff teams and only got 6 teams having the 4 best teams in the league constantly bounced can’t be something the league wants. Seems like something they can use to get what they wanted. Manfred did get what he wanted with pitch clocks and banned shifts after all.
Edited that to make more sense.

Not if the Diamondbacks have anything to say about it.

Cool @fubar2k7_PSN and @samguenther1987. I’ll put the LCS chart together tomorrow. I’ll stick in placeholders if the Braves win tonight.
-
This is officially the least competitive postseason I’ve ever seen. There have been some very cool moments. Game 2 between the Braves and Phillies is a historic game. D’Backs with the 4 HRs in an inning was very cool. Otherwise we are only 2 games above the minimum to be played. Lots of blowouts. 6 sweeps out of 8, none have gone the distance. Bums me out. With no skin in the game, I just want to see good series. Braves are about to go down which means we will have no baseball Friday or Saturday. First world problems…I know, I just want more baseball.
-
The field be set
-
Also, I heard on the broadcast tonight that Castellanos is the first player in MLB Playoff history to have back to back multi-home run games…that left me scratching my head but as far as I can reach back in my minds eye I swear I can’t think of another example.
PS just found out this info came from Sarah Langs so you can put it in your pipe and smoke it - she’s the numbers gal without question and if she says it, then I believe it. Pretty incredible!

@BxnnyMxn__PSN surprised not to see you on here.
I kinda gave myself the role of “MLB Postseason Hype Man” this year huh lol I’m still here just in the shadows a bit. I’ve been a bit of a busier bee that usual here lately but I’m finding time to listen to the games. I find the first wild card round so anticlimactic bordering on depressive so I try and avoid it. Seriously all that heartache blood sweat and tears as the season wraps up only to be extinguished as quickly as a vapor in a couple of games. It hurts man. It hurts.
It’ll be Braves v. Astros or Phillies v. Astros.
I like the Braves in five but Phillies if she goes six or seven. I cannot help but feel like the high point will be the NLCS with whomever emerges victorious being so battle worn to the point of being disadvantageous during the WS.
Advantage AL but I’m going to predict it’ll be the Braves over the Astros in Five
You need to give me new picks...
-
I was going to do this tomorrow, but I got in a mode...here is a preview of the picks for the LCS so far. As they are posted, I will update the chart. The first game is on Sunday.
Edit: The chart has been moved to page 9 as the pool gathers the picks.
-
My pick is Phillies and Astros.
