no, it wont. most the playerbase will be gearing up for madden.....SDS dropped the ball on this game this year.....hopefully next year they go back to being what they used to be. more like SDS less like madden/2k
There will be a little time in Season 3 before Madden comes out and usually All-Star content is solid but I agree, when Madden/2k drop, this will be the earliest this game dies. Usually this game can hold up for a few weeks after those games drop but this year it won’t.
Personally I’m skipping Madden this year too. I can only imagine how big of a money grabbing glitch show that game will be. I’ll be gone with 2k though. I just like their MyPlayer/Park even though they’re probably the most money hungry out of all between MLB/MUT/2K.

Madden is only money grabbing if you play MUT…Regs in Madden is awesome. You can play online with a custom playbook & you don’t have ridiculously overpowered players. It’s alot more fun.

They know that very well. As they continue their transition into EA part 2 they will hope to drive the newbies to spend real world money on stubs to buy cards since they can't hope to finish all programs.
Newbies aren't the lucrative people, its the people with money to burn that must get every card on day 1.
These "whales" typically make up the majority of money a game makes while being a fraction of the player base. (no coincidence that Lichtenstein often tends to be one of the two best mini seasons teams...SDS with a little humor there)
I don't think everything has been done with the intent to directly get people to spend money, but more to keep them engaged (and engaged players will spend money). But game companies can't seem to figure out that just because people are doing things and playing lots of hours, doesn't mean they are 'engaged'. To some it feels like a chore.
But a lot of people (myself included) enjoy the grindy programs.
Things like the Kaiju takeovers and the chase packs, those are designed to get people to spend more. And by people I mean whales.

I don’t doubt that. Regs just doesn’t do it for me though.

Funnily enough I didn't know about the seasons/sets and expiring cards at all. I didn't pay attention to any pre-release hype or announcements and just bought the game (a little later than usual and didn't pre-order for the first time).
I do think the cards expiring is a bad idea but it doesn't bother me near as much as the unimaginative program design, filler/fodder rewards, hiding so many of the good cards in expensive packs, lesser stub rewards, lesser pack rewards, etc. The whole thing feels like a studio taking their first major steps towards a cash grab.

Same here with Madden coming up (I love franchise not the MUT). Starfield Diablo 4 Zelda and FF16 way too many games to play over one I feel incomplete with

Yea, game sucks. I would rather re-watch a 20 year old tv show than play people with their connections. Just isn't fun.
I despise offline play as it is very boring but it is better than the online play.
What tv show?
Currently re-watching 24 again. One of my all time favorites.

100%…It’s all going to come down to pride. If SDS pivots and changes the original plan to what the vast majority of players want then the game can be saved. If they double down & don’t alter the original plan then it’s goodnight.

I give SDS credit for trying something different. But, hopefully the stats they are looking at and the survey results will tell them they need to do something different
I don’t mind “grind 99” (if that’s the slogan this year), but I do need my grind to be worth it.
So, let’s do some things different going forward.
One, don’t put the high end cards solely in packs.
Two, enough with the “no sell” stuff. Make everything sellable.
Three, make the rewards worthwhile. Level 38 and 39 in this seasons reward path is 3000 stubs and 2 ballin packs, respectively. That is simply unacceptable.
Four, put more packs in Conquest Map. Increase the odds of getting something good in those packs.
It’s not that complicated. And they need to do something to get the fan base back on their side. For sure. What they’re doing ain’t working.

They’re definitely sticking to their guns. Just like last year with the “working as intended”. I’m sure they’d say the same this year with content.

Seven, here’s an”out of the box” idea. Let’s us grind “something” small and relatively straightforward. At the end, give us a “make right” ( stealing Madden name) pack. This pack looks at our current inventory and gives us a choice of 5 highest cards we need. We get to pick one. “Pick a card, pick any card”
Anyway, I could go on.

I have played this game pretty much to "completion" (every card in the game) for the past several years. Here is why I quit before Memorial Day (and am done for the year): I COULDN'T KEEP UP. Everything felt like a time crunch. Always stressing to finish this or finish that. The thought of then completing that grind and repeating that stress through multiple seasons led me to look at this game as more of a job than a release...and I would prefer for my downtime to be spent decompressing rather than stressing. Add to this the fact that the best cards are locked behind packs and expensive on the open market and I realized quite quickly that I wasn't going to "complete" this game...so I quit. I think the game play is fine for the most part, but SDS has succeeded in creating a job that you don't get paid for and can never complete. No thanks!
You’re a baseball fan right? You don’t like playing your favorite team in a real baseball season instead of just playing fantasy baseball? There is more to this game than just the fantasy baseball aspect.

I’m always confused why people say Madden or 2K is coming out so people will stop playing this. That to me is like saying the new Queens of the Stone Age album is out so I’m gonna stop listening to the new Foo Fighters. Can’t you do both? I realize there is a time investment, but if you enjoy the game keep playing. If you don’t, who cares what else comes out. Just stop and do something that you enjoy.
PSA- The new Queens of the Stone Age album is pure gold. Get it. Get it now.

More thoughts. (I tried to do the survey, but it wouldn’t allow me. Something about “my account not allowed” or something like that.
For Showdowns:
A) do away with entry fee. Or make it so we get it back after first showdown win
B) do away with the superhuman CPU fielding. Not every 3rd basemen is Arenado. Not every CF is Keirmaer. Play to their ratings.
C) finally, and most importantly, if we fail a showdown, let us retry showdown starting at that point. To make us restart all over again is just straight up trolling. Imo.

Paying stubs for showdown is a slap in the face. Especially if like in 2020 you need to win showdowns to unlock certain cards. It is an unavoidable hard block to certain cards for weaker players.

It’s was a great idea they just fumbled big time and somehow thought nobody would notice the 99s were all in packs because people on here woulda mindlessly defend them. Never been more pay to win, and it’s a continuous cycle of it. They look like clowns right now.
