For the casual player once set 3 begins their interest in the the game will be over because their set one cards are no longer usable on-line (except in the wild card spot) and the idea of starting over will not appeal to them. For the hard core fans it doesn't really matter what SDS does as long as they push out content.
I mostly agree but a lot of casual players don’t play online. I’m a dedicated player and I’d rather swim with open wounds in a sea of vinegar than play this game online. I think most casuals that play offline will hardly notice.
But I do agree, casual online players will be gone

I’m going to wait until season 3 drops before I make any decisions on this game. I’ll say this though - If they go forward with rendering all set 1 cards useless except for the one WC spot then I’m out. There are several games coming out in July & August that I’m interested in & if SDS seriously is going to take away my cards & then expect me to grind again for the same player like some kind of hamster on a wheel - F that.

Yes, you have been very vocal about this and I remember I was one of those that said to you SDS must have a well thought plan, I still have some faith left but it bothers me that the free cards they are pushing out now are basically garbage compared to the free cards from Set 1 and that will impact the quality of my team for sure.
I believe they are somehow regretting releasing end game carda early and trying to nerf the attributes across the board

I have often wondered if SDS even expects the average player, whoever that may be, to "keep up". I am thinking that they have enough data to know that the majority of us just don't keep up at all.
They know that very well. As they continue their transition into EA part 2 they will hope to drive the newbies to spend real world money on stubs to buy cards since they can't hope to finish all programs.
I am very happy I didn't get this years game. They sold an unfinished product at full price, have not bothered to fix any of the mountain of bugs that have been there since launch from what I have seen and heard online.
If this is the direction they want to go, so be it. I know my non purchase will not even be noticed, but we as customers need to hold off until after launch to ensure they have a completed product, it is obvious by their responses, or lack thereof at times they really don't care what we think. It's like their mind set is "shut up and give me the money" or "Sucker! We got your money, what you gonna do now?"
This is why companies cannot have a monopoly on sports games. When you have no competition there is no need to care, and from what I see they only care about squeezing every possible penny from their customers. I get that companies exist to make money, but when you do it in a way that basically tells your potential customers that you think they are too stupid to know they don't care about your experience it's too far for me personally.

There will be a little time in Season 3 before Madden comes out and usually All-Star content is solid but I agree, when Madden/2k drop, this will be the earliest this game dies. Usually this game can hold up for a few weeks after those games drop but this year it won’t.
Personally I’m skipping Madden this year too. I can only imagine how big of a money grabbing glitch show that game will be. I’ll be gone with 2k though. I just like their MyPlayer/Park even though they’re probably the most money hungry out of all between MLB/MUT/2K.

Madden is only money grabbing if you play MUT…Regs in Madden is awesome. You can play online with a custom playbook & you don’t have ridiculously overpowered players. It’s alot more fun.

Newbies aren't the lucrative people, its the people with money to burn that must get every card on day 1.
These "whales" typically make up the majority of money a game makes while being a fraction of the player base. (no coincidence that Lichtenstein often tends to be one of the two best mini seasons teams...SDS with a little humor there)
I don't think everything has been done with the intent to directly get people to spend money, but more to keep them engaged (and engaged players will spend money). But game companies can't seem to figure out that just because people are doing things and playing lots of hours, doesn't mean they are 'engaged'. To some it feels like a chore.
But a lot of people (myself included) enjoy the grindy programs.
Things like the Kaiju takeovers and the chase packs, those are designed to get people to spend more. And by people I mean whales.

Funnily enough I didn't know about the seasons/sets and expiring cards at all. I didn't pay attention to any pre-release hype or announcements and just bought the game (a little later than usual and didn't pre-order for the first time).
I do think the cards expiring is a bad idea but it doesn't bother me near as much as the unimaginative program design, filler/fodder rewards, hiding so many of the good cards in expensive packs, lesser stub rewards, lesser pack rewards, etc. The whole thing feels like a studio taking their first major steps towards a cash grab.

Same here with Madden coming up (I love franchise not the MUT). Starfield Diablo 4 Zelda and FF16 way too many games to play over one I feel incomplete with

Yea, game sucks. I would rather re-watch a 20 year old tv show than play people with their connections. Just isn't fun.
I despise offline play as it is very boring but it is better than the online play.
What tv show?
Currently re-watching 24 again. One of my all time favorites.

No coincidence they sent out that survey to try and save this years game. Game is hardly to be found on gamepass for Xbox its so far down on the list now. SDS is scrambling

100%…It’s all going to come down to pride. If SDS pivots and changes the original plan to what the vast majority of players want then the game can be saved. If they double down & don’t alter the original plan then it’s goodnight.

I give SDS credit for trying something different. But, hopefully the stats they are looking at and the survey results will tell them they need to do something different
I don’t mind “grind 99” (if that’s the slogan this year), but I do need my grind to be worth it.
So, let’s do some things different going forward.
One, don’t put the high end cards solely in packs.
Two, enough with the “no sell” stuff. Make everything sellable.
Three, make the rewards worthwhile. Level 38 and 39 in this seasons reward path is 3000 stubs and 2 ballin packs, respectively. That is simply unacceptable.
Four, put more packs in Conquest Map. Increase the odds of getting something good in those packs.
It’s not that complicated. And they need to do something to get the fan base back on their side. For sure. What they’re doing ain’t working.

They’re definitely sticking to their guns. Just like last year with the “working as intended”. I’m sure they’d say the same this year with content.

Six, take away ALL negative numbers by using a captain. They should add value to players, not take away. That’s why they are captains.
Seven, here’s an”out of the box” idea. Let’s us grind “something” small and relatively straightforward. At the end, give us a “make right” ( stealing Madden name) pack. This pack looks at our current inventory and gives us a choice of 5 highest cards we need. We get to pick one. “Pick a card, pick any card”
Anyway, I could go on.

Five and six are musts, negative captain boosts completely negates the idea of even having them in the game. They should absolutely be at the start of the program
