    Chipper, Pedro, or Babe Ruth?
For me Chipper looks like the best option where he's a switch hitter and I personally love Chipper in MLB The Show since his swings really good.
Pedro really looks good this year and I have a feeling he'd be a nasty pitching card especially this early on.
Then there is Babe Ruth who we all know is great not just because of his hitting stats but just because well its Babe Ruth.

I wanna know what card everyone's thoughts are on the 3 cards.

I’m close to the pack and deciding between Ruth and Chipper. I’m leaning more towards Ruth but don’t think you can go wrong either way

Chipper for sure, love Babe but Chipper is too good, switch hitter, faster, better fielder, same level hitter.

I think it’s Chipper…Pedro is awesome but there will be more elite level pitchers like him down the road. Ruth too is awesome but there are already so many good power hitters out there at DH & 1B and again - There will be plenty more…But Chipper being an elite switch hitter with that glitchy swing & gold defense is end game. I foresee myself still using him in the game until the last day.

I'm about 50 off from my first pick, i think it's going to be Ruth because i can use him in the lefty mini seasons.

Are you offline only? I never anticipated that to be a reason for getting Ruth

From what everyone else is thinking Chipper seems like the easy pick as well.
I mean this is probably the best Chipper we've ever seen and likely will ever see.
I love the fact that they didn't do his finest card last year and this year its literally there day one and will be an end game 3rd baseman.
Now I'm wondering who's gonna be part of the next big collection/ set 2 choice pack for the next program.
I'd love to see a 99 Halladay at some point and a Griffey 99 but idk when that'll happen.
I'm not too worried because this program isn't quite close to over yet since the game literally came out not long ago.

Chipper all the way. I am hitting around .400 with him in H2H.

Babe looks great but he isn’t all that much better than Murakami at 1B and Gehrig is also really cheap as a 1B stopgap.

    Grind and get all 3.

With that being said, I have to get Babe as a Yankees fan. That switch hitting Chipper is really enticing. However, I would agree there aren't a lot of great 99 pitchers out there for a full rotation of 5.

Short answer, you can't really go wrong with any of them.

I'm likely to get Gibson soon for my first 99 pitcher once I hit that level to get the final boss pack.
I mean I've got 99 Devin Williams who I find solid but I need a 99 Starting Pitcher and Gibson is good from everything I've seen.

Yes for the most part i am offline only. I play the occasional event game. I'm going to grind to get all 3 so the order really doesn't matter to me and with all this said my pick could well change when i get to it.

I wouldn’t say there’s really a best choice. I would pick what you need most for your lineup. If I had to take only one I’d personally take Chipper. A switch hitter with a great swing and a couple parallels away from being maxed out power on both sides and pretty good speed for third base. Ruth is as good as Chipper and maybe better for some people. Honestly just take whoever you want. You can’t lose.

If you can hit lefty-lefty, then Babe all the way. 125 x 4, actually decent speed and fielding, the motherload of quirks.

That being said, I'm 2 away and will probably pick Chipper since I have Joc and Murakami as starters and several other lefty thumpers to choose from for DH and OF.

Going Chipper first and if I manage to get the second pack I'll get Ruth. Really both are amazing looking. Already have 2 lefties that do well for me so a switch hitting slugger is a must.

Chipper then Ruth... Pedro last...starters just don't have as much value, can only use them every 4 games or so

I think it's Chipper and he will probably be my wild card that I carry through the seasons. This seems like his best card ever and at p5 would be a solid shortstop.

I have never been able to hit with Chipper. I would guess that he’s the 2nd most popular legend in the game (after Griffey), but I have given up trying with him. To be fair, I think basically everyone else absolutely rakes with him, so it’s probably best to disregard my experience.

That said, my order will still go Babe then Chipper then Pedro. I love Pedro, but I play almost exclusively offline where using the “meta” pitcher is irrelevant. There are always way more pitchers than I have time to use, and I typically only end up focusing on a relatively small pool of pitchers I really click with.

I’ve already got a 99 Brooks Robinson, who is always one of my favorite cards (and when he’s paired with the 99 George Brett, you’ve got a pretty scary platoon!). So, my 3B looks good and I’m in no rush to unlock multiple rewards from Set 1.

(And, if we’re being super-duper cards-face-up-on-the-table honest… I really don’t even care about Ruth all that much. He’s always got a spot on my old guys theme team, of course, but only as a bench piece. His speed and defense keep him out of the outfield. So, at best, he is going to be a DH on a very specific type of theme team for me.)

Hats off to SDS for giving us 3 incredibly popular cards right up front. They wouldn’t be the 3 that I would choose, but I applaud their goal to satisfy the largest number of people possible.

I don’t rake with chipper, but Larkin RIPS!. Another thing to factor in is who you are willing to wildcard once set 1 is out of online rotation.

    Larkin. Rips. Agreed!

But when it comes to shortstops, I just can’t (and won’t) quit Robin Yount. Great bat. Decent pop. Devastatingly handsome mustache. Rugged acne scarring that runs deeper than the Congo. Very reliable glove. Unkempt mullet that looks like tangled up seaweed and algae. Now THAT’S a shortstop.
