Will there still be complaints? Of course, but I think we at least get 'em out the way early and not have it linger the entire year.
Then they'll release another 'better' 99ovr version at the end of the year like they did with Randy Johnson.

Every time a monthly awards card or topps now card comes out the Jeter lovers will complain that someone who had a good couple weeks gets a way better card than Jeter. Then when the final version of Jeter comes out and it is overly juiced the Jeter haters will constantly quote his real life stats and point out how ridiculous the card is. Jeter will definitely be a lightning rod in 23.

While this is most likely true if they follow their recent trend his collection card will be a very good 99 but later in the year he will get a super juiced milestone or retro finest. I feel like they will try to make the collection card somewhat realistic which will drive jeter fans crazy because it will be a bit underwhelming. Thinking honus Wagner with lower speed and defense.
I'm expecting multiple Jeters... Rookie, Postseason (Mr. November), etc.

There will always be complaints. And I may be among them occasionally (although probably not about Jeter)
I am fully expecting them to stick with the trend of making him an 88 or so at the start and then releasing multiple versions of him scaling up as the year goes along.

And yes, I bet the Captains pack will be the same as the 42 pack and the Takashi pack. An 88 Jeter.

Jeter’s finest 1999 card could be very good. Ops at 940.
8 seasons of 200 hits compared to 1 for JRollins and the Rollins card this year was awesome.
Comparing to Jackie as well who had a high of 16 HR in a single season.I expect a very playable card who is a great 2hole hitter for guys that use the hit and run.
And. Fielding is really overplayed in the show when any shortstop can side arm laser a chopper up the middle at a 90% clip anyway.
