I’ve been there buddy, look for offspeed; take fastballs.
Yup. The opposite of real baseball. Lol
I will say that in 19 playing on a monitor is WAY better than a tv.
That’s what my friends been telling me. But I had to get priorities done first which was buy my books for school. How much are good monitors that are cheap?
-
Truth is you pretty much always needed a monitor if you wanted to consistently compete online with zone hitting. The kinda good news now is that, outside the top 1% of players, analog and directional is just about on par with zone in the right hands. Lots of folks are able to make WS with either, analog especially.

This is what I play on.
AOC CQ32G1 31.5" Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor, Quad HD 2560x1440, VA panel, 4 ms Response Time, MPRT, 144Hz, FreeSync, DisplayPort/HDMI/VGA, VESA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HKM16DT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JHlGEbD091SF3
The only thing I’d recommend is looking for a monitor with a 1ms response time. That’s going to make the biggest difference. Also decide if you want to play at 1440p or 1080p. You can save $ by going 1080p but the game will obviously look slightly worse resolution wise.

This is wrong on so many levels. Don’t confuse response time with display lag or input lag. That’s what makes the main difference

Doesn't need to be expensive. The one that Alpha linked would definitely work, but you could get a cheaper one that would work just as well.
^This one is pretty similar to the one I have currently. You probably won't find many cheaper than $150

A lot of tvs now have good input lag. Im about to put 55 inch TCL in my mancave with 11 ms input lag. $268
-
I'm in a weird place. I faced Kopech yesterday, couldn't touch him. Faced Kluber last night, lit him the [censored] up and hit a Slam even. I can't explain it. I was very late on all the fastballs, then later good/early on them.

Same here man. Plugged my PS4 to my TCL 5 series from my monitor and I still play as shitty as I do on my Samsung 4k IPS 4ms monitor.

5 series? I came close to buying the 55" 6 series, but went with a monitor instead which I kinda regret now. I own the 5 series right now but was going to upgrade to the 6

With the increased pitch speeds, I can’t hit anything over 97 mph. I’m in the 700ish rating and Jesus hard throwers are the meta. It sucks I really can’t afford a monitor right now to have fun with the game. Thanks SDS
If you want to play competitively online, then yes, you need a monitor. And it's not just because of the latest patch. I've been using one since 2015 and haven't looked back. Monitor users have always had an advantage.
Do you have to have one to play the game? No. But competitive online play is a different story. That's just the way it goes and it's not SDS fault. I believe any online competitive game requires better equipment to keep up with other players. Fair or not that's just the way it goes. -

If you suck on a TV like me, a monitor doesn't significantly help or magically turn you into a good player. It has not for me

Same. I can go from being early on inside fastballs from Nate Pearson one game, play another and constantly late and having to gamble vs 90 mph.

In some games you’d be correct. Like in an FPS where you need to shoot something the second you see it. But with a baseball game you first need to see if the ball is worth swinging at before actually hitting an input, so you need a low response time so the pixels will change as fast as possible; giving you more time to actually decide if you’re going to hit an input. Once you have determined if the ball is worth swinging at, that’s when input lag comes into play. Obviously having a low response time and low input lag would be the best of both worlds.

A monitor will help but it aint gonna make you a elite player. I learned that the hard way in DS last year. Good luck!

1ms response time has nothing to do with input lag. Stop spreading wrong information.

Not saying it does. Actually read what I wrote. Response time is how quickly the pixels change. If the pixels change faster, then you can determine if the pitch is a strike or not BEFORE you actually hit the button to swing (input). Input lag is ONLY a factor IF you decide to swing.

I’m not sure if that’s true. I think Input lag is how quickly the viewing device processes and displays the content source. For instance, different inputs HDMI 1,2, or 3 might have different input lag on a given tv.
