Monitor vs tv

I use a small TV now but compared to using a big TV I’m 500% better now.

I'm still using a 52" LG plasma TV that's over 10 years old. My record is well above .500 and while I'm sure a monitor would help tremendously, I really don't want to move to a screen that's half the size. I also don't want to spend a whack of cash for a large monitor.
Point is, you can 100% play ranked on a TV.

You CAN do OKAY in ranked on an old tv but a monitor is a night and day difference. Some people still suck on a monitor and can’t lay off of anything although the aren’t LATE on fastballs/sinkers.
People can’t really complain about MLB basically needing a monitor to compete online. Same goes for other games. You will do fine with a [censored] tv, but once you rank up you will hit a brick wall using a tv.

This is interesting...I cruise through ranked games until I hit HOF and then it seems that myself and my opponent become terrified of hitting a baseball. It is on both ends...I play about .500 at HOF, but all the games are super low scoring. Makes me wonder if a monitor would make my HOF experience different.

I remember back in like 2016 I just always used a tv…..I had an all in one computer and it had an hdmi input. For whatever reason I plugged the PS4 into it and I was basically hitting balls backwards I was so far ahead of it from being used to a tv. That’s how I found out about monitors.

That’s not true, maybe if you have a really bad tv. I’ve made WS 5x this year, been as high as 970 playing on a 77 inch tv.

I’m fine with this. For those that do this as a job, or are the top 10% or whatever competing for WS it makes sense.
The issue I have though is that it’s begun to feel like you need a monitor to simply play on basically the default setting (all-star). Seems like try e majority can’t hit outlier and the game simply isn’t fun…even when your pitching. Your opponent is just guessing and flailing, They get lucky once or twice and hit them out almost every other at bat.
I genuinely question how many people are having fun playing the game any more, or if they are just addicted to reward paths, because I haven’t played beyond the 2nd inning in my last 8 RS games. Some just quit as soon as they see Degrom or Ryan…and I don’t blame them.Feeling you need a monitor to compete at the highest levels makes sense, but when it feels like you need one simply to play at all, that’s awful game design.

If you have a tv that has recently come out you don’t need a monitor… I purchased a monitor early in the season because I thought me playing on my brand new Samsung TV was the reason I couldn’t hit… well the reason I couldn’t hit was because I sucked lol… fast forward to present times and I’m much more comfortable at the plate and hitting moon shots has become fairly routine on HOF and all-star… so this past weekend i figured I give the tv a try since it’s much nicer to play on 55” than my 24” monitor… and yep you guessed it, my play hasn’t decreased and I’m still hitting moon shots… played a ranked season game on the TV last night and made the dude rage quit hitting two tanks with Lindor and another with Polanco to end the season with a 750 rating
Long story short if you have a good tv that has come out this year you really don’t need a monitor… if you’re are struggling it’s probably more you than the tv… I would just continue to practice

It’s because too many people complained that hitting was too easy last year. I’m not a very good player. I have played for years and I have noticed the shift from this game being for the people who are the top competitors. That’s also why they made all the best cards harder to get. Those same people complained that too many people were able to get players like Billy Wagner or Chapman. I don’t understand why, they don’t play people on our level.

I use a 65" LG OLED C1 and it plays just as good if not better than the monitor I was using.

i think the next gen system is more important. i have my Series X set up on a monitor, but move it the big screen and dont have too much of an issue, there is a difference but 32 inch to 75 inch...as my ex wife always told me size matters....but when i play on Xbox one X, the game play is very laggy and not smooth. i went back and played 2020 on my ps4 same thing. just my 2 cents
