You’re wrong. I hadn’t played baseball since high school and joined an adult league at age 27. I had to relearn just about everything. Fielding came back relatively quickly.. hitting is a whole different story. If you haven’t even seen high school pitching, I doubt you even touch a single pitch. Have you even used a wood bat?

Watch the video, it doesn't look too fast, if I get 20 ABs I can just sit fastball and take a swing in the zone, that's probably 100 pitches so statistically I should connect with one and find a hole I feel like.

Bro... It’s a lot harder than you think haha. I don’t think you’d get a hit in 20 ABs against a Single A pitcher. Unless you played high level baseball into your 20s, you aren’t touching a thing without a ton of training and practice.

The worst hitting pitcher ever had about a .045 OBP in the MLB. Most pitcher only players still take BP and stuff so that’s not surprising, but that goes out the window since this is the worst hitting pitcher ever, in all likelihood, I can hit better than the worst hitting pitcher ever, and being an 18 yo male with a decent build, I think I could.

I think you’re underestimating how difficult it is to hit a baseball. Especially live pitching. And then you’re going to do this against someone who has trained their whole life to play baseball professionally and was good enough to make it into the MLB? Not to mention the highest level of ball you’ve played is middle school? Come on dude haha. Do you have any idea how good you have to be to even sniff the Majors?

I am talking about the worst hitter EVER in the MLB. In all likelihood I am a better hitter than him. It’s nothing against the pitchers, but they aren’t untouchable, in 20 ABs you could probably guess and swing early to find a hole somewhere in there.

Lol you must be tripping, even the best hitters ever have had slumps where they go 0-20.

I feel like the sheer number of ABs and pitches are on my side, each AB will likely be at least 3 pitches (unless I get a hit). That’s a minimum of 60 pitches without any takes on balls, any walks, or any fouls. Say I can get 2 balls on most ABs or 1 foul 1 ball, already 100 pitches.

In 100 pitches I can guess and have a decent chance at a hit, or I could adjust as it progresses.

At a certain point I feel like statistics is on my side.

Orioles Chris Davis says you’re wrong.

This entire thread is a big ol' LOL.

    Who cares?

I guess it beats the posts about unanswered tickets, R2, Cronus Zen and Mickey Calloway.

    Go to a batting cage.

I know the last time I went, it took me about 7 swings at 60mph to even foul one off. Now maybe some of you guys that played in HS or college would be able to have the same experience facing 85mph but OP is dreaming imo.

6 or 7 swings... in 20 ABs I might get 100 pitches. I could spent a few pitches just swinging in the zone with hopes of a strike, and there’s an ok chance I make contact like that.

You’d look just like the dude who can’t lay off the low ball in this game. I’d bet money on that.

It doesn’t matter though, because it’s 20 ABs. He hangs a few of those offspeed and the challenge is over.

He ain't gonna hang [censored]. He's gonna throw 95+ by you right down the pipe 19 times then give you the hook on the one and only offspeed pitch to make you look even worse than your posts here make you sound.

If you haven't even played high school baseball, where most kids throw in the mid 70's maximum, then you aren't getting a hit off an MLB pitcher. Not even close. Above you used the example that you would be better than the worst hitting pitcher ever. Well that worst hitting pitcher probably still hit .350 in high school. If you have not played since middle school in all likelihood you have never faced a live curveball. It's incredibly hard to hit a good curveball. I appreciate the enthusiasm but it's extremely unlikely you even foul tip a pitch. Also regarding your point that it would be vs. an average 4 ERA pitcher. Well Joe Mugrove, Wade Miley, and Spencer Turnbull have career ERAS over 4, while Carlos Rodon is in the 3.9 range. By your definition the average MLB pitcher has thrown 4 no hitters this year

I don’t think you quite understand what people mean when they say hitting is the hardest thing to do in any sport. Yes the statistics are on your side if you were a MLB hitter but it’s not as easy as it looks.

You might get a foul tip every 20 ABs but would most certainly go 0 for 20 every single time, forever, except for just blind luck. Like a bunt. I actually thought this post was satirical at first. I mean realistically they could throw 90 right down the middle 20 times and you wouldn't touch it haha come on man..

Even the worst MLB players are the best of the best other wise they’d be in like AA, AAA, or not even signed. If you were better then them you probably would’ve been noticed.

Yeah I mean realistically you'd go 0 for 20 every time against even Single A pitching. Pimpin ain't easy.

A high school freshman Josh Hader struck me out when I was a senior. He was unhittable in high school.

Was this when he was making highly questionable tweets?

You’ve got moxie. I believe in you. With a wooden bat, though, you really have to get that top hand through the zone. Otherwise, he’ll knock the bat out of your hands.

Should change this post to “if i close my eyes and swing i may get lucky and make contact against an mlb pitcher”

Anyone can throw their bat out and make contact, but to say you can willingly hit someone throwing 90+ is just stupid. I played through college and in my Sunday leagues anyone throwing low 80’s eats me up (I’m 35 now).....it’s just a whole nother animal when you step up to the plate.

Love the confidence but not happening my dude

Very hot take thinking your 7th grade babe Ruth league baseball experience would translate in the box against an MLB pitcher. Considering you didn’t play high school ball let alone college ball, I would bet that you couldn’t hit a guy throwing 85 mph let alone 95mph. It’s not a pitching machine they aren’t throwing straight fastballs in the wheelhouse every pitch

I played at a high level, been out of the game for 8 years, and I don't think for a second I could get a hit off a big league arm in 20 ABs.

Not a knock on you as Im sure you are a fine athlete but hitting at the MLB level is not easy. MLB pitchers got there because they throw hard AND have movement on every pitch. Go to a batting cage and have them turn it up to 90mph and see what you can do. Then factor in that MLB pitchers throw faster than that and non of their pitches are straight. Once you have the timing of the fastball down they throw a change up and you look foolish. Also throw in the fact that you are using a wooden bat. You have to have the strength to swing through a 95 mph fastball if you square it up. Again, go to a cage and try a wooden bat, completely different than swing one of those 28 oz ceramic bats. Yeah as you have pointed out you could get lucky and run into one. But odds are if you indeed see 100 pitches I would bet you would make contact on less than 5 and 4 of those will be foul tips.

You do realize that there are literal professionals... Who have dedicated their entire lives to hitting a baseball... Who go on 0-20 streaks all the time right? Then there is you... Who had a sick hit off of Bobby in 7th grade and watched a Youtube video. And you're somehow gonna rope one in the gap?
