PS5 Downloading both versions, do I need them

My PS5 started pre-downloading both the ps5 and ps4 versions of the game, do I need both or can I delete the ps4 version?
It is also showing the ps5 version as standard edition even though I bought digital deluxe

I bought dig deluxe too and the game is showing as 21 with Tatis. It's probably just the standard menu cover art? Assuming everyone who bought different versions of 20 still sees Baez when selecting the game even if they got the Ortiz version? PS4 user here so not a complete correlation to your situation. I'm also assuming you'll have no use for the PS4 version.

You will find that when you start up the game for the first time it will reward you with your digital deluxe bonuses. They are kind of like a separate thing, the game itself is no different.

Same here, woke up, and to my surprise, both versions are downloading. I thought this would only be possible on the 16th?

Pre-orders usually have a time where the game will download early. Let's you play the game (hypothetically) on the 16th at midnight

That’s nice, never noticed that before. I’ve preordered for last 5 years but probably didnt notice. Thought I had to wait to download game before playing on the 16th. This is even better since I’m on the East Coast and will have to stay up late for drop

Yeah, I noticed that too. I’m assuming we can just delete the PS4 version? I’d like to get a confirmation before I do that though lol.

I was wondering, which version will predownload on my PS5, so answer is both.
I also noticed couple days ago, that picture of my digital deluxe changed from Jackie to Tatis, but it was still named Digital Deluxe, so no need to panic hopefully -

Sony needs to work on this there is no reason that both versions should preload on the same console.
I need to wait and see the DD stream before I will even pre-order.

Tatis is Cover boy that is why it shows up, Only time you need to worry about ps4 version is when you get the hard copy version b/c it needs the disc to play on ps5. How many gigs did it download of each version? Ps5 will be bigger than ps4 due to stadium creator.
I would guess both download so you can't use ps4 version on another account and double dip pre-Order bonuses.
I have Digital Deluxe ps4 only i think it was like 44 gigs. Past years it has been like 60 gigs, so seems like that could be indication of a more optimized game.

So I had both versions downloading last night and now I see only one version that they are both downloaded. Anyone else have this issue? It’s saying my game is the PS4 version. I preordered the ps5 game on a ps5

Sorry I meant the Jackie versions which don't have a stand alone ps4 or ps5 version of the game on the retail market.
Will it be 1 disc that works in both the ps4 and ps5, or will they just toss in copies of both games and include the dlc code...

They already announced physical versions will be a ps4 disc with a ps5 download code. You will need to put the ps4 disc in the ps5 as an authenticator key even though it won't be used for the game. You should not buy a physical Jackie Robinson edition if you have or plan on purchasing a digital ps5.

This is the 4th game I’ve bought that has does this. Your more than okay to delete the other copy, it’s just taking up space. If you don’t have room for both, the PS4 version will download first and you may not realize until you load the game on Friday that it’s the PS4 version installed. I’m sure this happens to many people tbh.

I would guess size of file. One has Stadium creator other doesn't? Or are they both same size?

The ps4 version says the game title - ps4 on it, you can easily tell. It’s just weird that both download in my opinion.
