I honestly don't get how I can be so bad at Showdown

It's the fear of losing that makes you play different. There is a stress factor because unlike moments and conquest you can restart or try again.
Showdown is fun for me. I can't tell you the last time I locked in on a game playing on veteran. I went down to two outs before hitting a walk off in the NL Central last mini showdown. I was fist pumping and letting Luis Castillo know what I really thought about him.

Not sure which part I like less. The fact you like Showdown or that you are bashing Castillo.

Build your team accordingly to the pitcher. The first inning show down I went with left handed batters and switch hitters. I also played enough of the showdown to increase my total runs. I went into facing oswalt down 15-9 and beat it with 10 outs remaining

I tried that, but then had to face Kershaw in the middle, he beat me. Have to start over.

My strategy: stack hitters as much as possible for last showdown.
The first showdown you should be able to get past without issue. Finish the next 3 challenges and get your team good enough to go right to final showdown.
It’s worked for me. I think I’ve completed 8 showdowns already

The Issue I have with showdown is that the program stars are tied to it and not moments. I think they should add moments into the program as well. I feel like the showdown is the storylines of this year. They had such a great idea for the story lines and I liked it but they made them way to hard in the beginning and the rewards were not worth it and then people stopped playing them. The cubs story line was a joke for a gold.

I hate playing online H2H, I dont even have PS plus. But showdown is so horrible that I think I will have to start playing RS just to get through the innings programs so I dont have to play Showdown.

No matter how bad you think you are at it, I’m confident that I’m much worse. I was able to beat moments extreme in ‘19, and I’m not even close to touching these bosses. Makes me want to give up on this game only four days in

I found that power swinging yielded better results for me in Showdown, especially on rook/veteran
I agree. I've started to exclusively power swing in showdown moments. Especially with the boppers.
-
It's just like the [censored] SDS pulled with Moments last year(and probably this year who knows yet), the difficulty may say 1 thing but the hidden sliders are heavily adjusted to make it harder.
I wouldn't have a problem if a moment said HOF and it was actually that, but don't tell me it's Rookie and have it be completely different from every other game mode you play on Rookie.

So hey I want to light myself on fire and run through a gas station. I got to the final showdown against Jansen, got 5 runs in the first 3 outs, then proceeded to never get the go ahead run over the last 12 out. He never threw a bad pitch during that entire time and it blows my mind. It really killed my motivation to beat showdowns. The fact that you can grind your way to the end only to fail and have to pay to start over really kills me. It's a dang shame these basically replaced the old moments
Safety Edit Mainly because people may think I actually want to light myself on fire and run through a gas station. It's Hyperbole people relax. I do not want too light myself on fire and run through a gas station. That would be ridiculous, nobody wants to light themselves on fire and run through a gas station, least of all me. I would never light myself on fire and run through a gas station.

I cruise through Conquest on HOF, I get to the world series in MTO on Dynamic (largely HOF and HOF+), but then I do any Showdown and I can't get anything going. I just can't explain how my bat disappears in this mode, despite it being on Veteran
It doesnt take a genious to figure out why. This is why I dont touch DD. Garbage casual mode made for generation OCD or emptying your wallet. It's not baseball, it's a baseball card casino designed to manipulate children and gambling addicts.
Lol whut?

I just lost a showdown vs. Verlander starting at 8-15. 3 perfect/perfect outs, several good squared outs, Verlander painted the entire challenge with 0 mistake pitches in over 100 pitches.... Is this really how showdown is intended to play? That it's harder to complete than the last moments extreme from 19? Meanwhile you have to pay to attempt to complete it? Yeah, no thanks.
-
This is the best mode. Just finished grinding for Torres and Gallo. Beating verlander down 15-0 is such a [censored]. Game tries to cheat when u get close. Took twice as long as besting Cole. Beat Cole 3 out of 4 times. Verlander was like 3 out of 15

I just strolled through 3 AL West showdowns to get Gallo, faced Verlander every time and finished it with over 15 outs left all 3 times. You gotta draft smart and stack the good perks. Also load up your entire lineup with big bats, even at catcher and OOP, it doesn't matter since you don't pitch or play D.

How do you guarantee decent drafts? Half of my drafts have been with really, really bad options. Like the gold rounds having mostly starting pitchers and silver rounds with bat last fielders

In the AL West I was able to draft Olson, Gallo or Alvarez for the golds. For silvers I got La Stella, Danny Santana and Mark Canha almost every time. Those cards do fine. Later on in the diamond round, if you play all the showdowns (which you should imo unless you're really confident in yourself) I got Trout every time. Throughout the AL West showdown you only face 1 lefty, Manea I think, so just stack up on those big lefty bats and put all righties in for the elimination game against Manea. If you later face Verlander with all those big lefties and Trout, maybe diamond Correa in there as well, it's really easy imo.

I faced LH SP Heaney every time for the 1st? hitting challenge. For some dumb reason, I had trouble elevating his sinker, even with the massive PCI. Second one was against Manaea.

You're right, I forgot about Heaney. Either way I don't really have issues batting lefty vs lefty and the cards I just mentioned have good attributes against both sides, especially power which you need most. The games are all on Veteran too, except for the last one before the Verlander showdown, that one is on All-Star but really easy as well since the game starts 0-0. You just need a decent bullpen guy and you're good.
