I get what you saying, I just think it’s weird to bat .400 with a player that hits .250 in person. Not really important to get the better cards if you can perform with lesser ones. I’m too old I guess, I like games a little more grounded to reality.
There is a simulation game style for that.
Maybe so, but can’t play DD online like that. There is no way to search for like minded people. It’s competitive mode and that’s it. Back in the day you could search for a game with any type of setting. They also had lobbies back then as well. It doesn’t matter I guess, I fit into a different crowd and it’s not the way the game is going it looks like.
You can absolutely play the game like that in DD!! The only difference it won't be live.
There is a feature where you can play against anybody's team that has played an online game and is somwhere on leaderboard.
You can use your DD lineup against thiers, set parameter to whatever you like, and the thing about this mode is it tracks peoples tendencies. So if they swing at everything in real life that is how they will swing in game same goes for pitching.
Great way to practice against teams that are in the next division as well. I know it may not be ideal b/c it isn't live but it allows you to play people that are same ranking and it it based off your settings.
You can also try leagues, that is live gameplay and you can use DD lineups and if you have a group of likeminded people then you can all agree on the parameters of gameplay.
I get that, but it’s not the same as searching for a person. You really can’t optimize the game anyway to play different “styles”. The engine they built the game off is more geared for total user input than it is realism. Maybe I need to hang up the joysticks, get a pc, grab squad or arma.
Sorry you feel that way. But if your looking to play baseball in a more realistic way then simulation is the closest thing to realism your gonna get.
There is no way anybody that plays MP is gonna play the game realistically unfortunately. We are in a time where people will do whatever to win with no set of morales. There might be a few out there but unfortunately if there is a way to cheat people will use it even if it is for a fake card.
It's all about putting on social media and bragging. Fun is not first priority in the majority of gaming anymore.

I thought ten years ago by now the games would be so realistic. It’s almost like they are going more towards “arcade style” with all sports games. Actually, you can’t even get a mil-sim shooter on console no more.

Maybe. I heard all the socom rumors for ps5 and was disappointed when it wasn’t announced. Socom confrontation was the last good shooter on console in my opinion.

@sean_87__PSN the only real way to do what you are looking for is to play in a league. Play with like minded people and you can set so many things that you can have ot the way you want it to be. You can use dd with roster rules or real teams. At least last year you could, not 100% sure about this year but I would assume that you could

They better not take out Analog Stride hitting, cause I don't want to hit like I'm playing duck hunt target shooting.
On competitive it should really only be zone or zone plus analog imo. If not you leave room for complete randomness.
If you want to argue that, then the zone shouldn’t be the size of a giant tennis racquet. Shouldn’t it be the actual size of the bat?
If you did this and only allowed the game to be played this way it would be extremely hard and they would lose a large portion of their fans. Personally I would love the challenge

Hitting and Pitching won't be fixed until everyone who's worse than me isn't rewarded and everyone who's better than me is penalized.
-
@Rabid55Wolverine
I get that, but that’s more work than I am willing to put in it. Of course, that’s my problem. From a mechanical standpoint though, you can’t optimize the game to play multiple ways. The current engine they use is suited to play the way it does, so I get it.

The unfortunate aspect of that mode is that it does not gain you anything but XP for playing. Nearly impossible to improve your team in DD by playing that mode.
It would be really great if that was a valid way to progress but they would have to figure out a way to stop the exploits. I am sure that they could do it if they wanted to. Just not sure it would ever be a priority for them

Exactly. If you can compete with common and bronze against diamonds than that ain’t right.
See this is a misconception among community. It's not about the card and what it's overall is? It's how you use it.
Just cuz you have a diamond does not make it a better player. It just means attributes are better you still have to use them right.
So to said user every card is the same? I would prefer my success at the plate have to do with the card as well as my input. Input shouldn’t be sole factor for outcome because if it is, no card is different from the next to each user.
Achieving a perfect perfect with a silver common or Diamond shouldn’t be the same level of difficulty but achieving it should have the same result.
The cards are not the same at all when they have different power levels, pci sizes, perks, larger or smaller timing windows, different speeds. Literally the only constant is the result when the tiny PCI or the giant PCI line up with the ball and the swing is timed perfectly. As it should be.

Ok. So cards don’t really matter. If your good at pci placement it doesn’t matter what cards you use. Thats funny

They better not take out Analog Stride hitting, cause I don't want to hit like I'm playing duck hunt target shooting.
On competitive it should really only be zone or zone plus analog imo. If not you leave room for complete randomness.
Randomness!..its all timing with your stride...hmmmmm like a real baseball swing.....I can't imagine how DD casual noob guys play by pointing a target and then pressing X...wtf?..that's so silly.
Timing with your stride no matter where the ball is...zone and zone plus analog have to not only time the pitch but place the bat on the ball.
Stride skips an entire step and makes for random outcomes because it assumes because you timed the ball your bat was in the right place?? Or did you swing over it? Under it? Oh that’s right...you have no idea. Because it’s random
Yes I understand that, If I was playing on All-Star level with default pitch speeds like most players of this game I'd have time to aim and swing but I play on Legend with pitch speeds maxed out. One guy did a test on The Show 19 and timed frame by frame reaction time on fast balls on Legend at max speed and its basically the same as in RL baseball...about .5 of a second to react. So that's all the time I have with using Analog Stride, see and react. Basically all the videos Ive watched on so called The Show experts on youtube play on such ridiculous pitch speeds its...its super nooby slow. Maybe when I'm like in my 70s playing The show I'd use those pitch speeds.

Careful buddy don't be so nieve! If you think your basic motor skills don't start breaking down til your 70 you have got a rude awakening waiting to happen.
I'm gonna just guess for sake of reply i'm gonna call you 23 or 24 yrs old. By the time your 70 you will be on your 2nd or 3rd prescription of reading glasses. You will sleep later prolly 8 am. Have your oatmeal and toast, drink your juice and coffee, and then take your pills. Spend a total of 2 hours total a day to account for amount of time you will spend going back and forth to go pee.
Maybe play total of 2 games before it's your lunch time. Then your belly is full so now you have to take a nap. Wake up and maybe play another 2 games. Before it's time to watch 5 oclock news, then jeopardy and wheel of fortune.
But aside from all that by the time you are 70 pitch speeds will be least of your problems. B/C after MLBTS 21 comes out there will be those who cannot hit R1 to catch ball @ wall so there will be movement thread to have trampolines in the outfield to help catch flyballs.
Hover cars that replicate the realism of batters foot speed to run bases for them. And no baseball field will be greater than 250' so they can have a sense of accomplishment with even the bat boy in the lineup.
So yeah just free advice don't fall for the "nieve bug!"
(this post is not a shot @ anyone or group just having fun with age just fun post)

Haha that was funny, you have a sense of humor so you must be a franchise player and not a casual DD noob. And no I'm not 23 I'm 42, I'm a man!. Yeah prolly by the time I'm 70 there will be The Show 2049 and there will be a PS 10 installed in my brain so I can play it while I'm taking 20 washroom breaks a day.

I'm late 40's i dabble in MP nowadays a lil bit but i just literally find the pitching to be boring. Standing there waiting to see a pitch in the zone is not fun.
So i have come to terms with MP is not what it used to be so now i just play for fun whatever mode that might be but the setting still set for a challenge. Without the pausing and typical garb that comes with MP these days.
But sounds like SDS might be addressing these issues so curious to see. Excited for game regardless.

No not what i am saying. Look nobody can walk up to plate and bat perfect with any bronze or any silver everytime.
What i said is that it is not out of the realm of possibility that an advanced user could do it easier than majority of players. Does not mean he/she does it everytime.
So no not all cards are the same but it does increase the odds of said user to be even more successful with a card with better attributes.
Which is exactly the point to DD to build a better team as cheap as possible.
And if one or two people out of a 100 can do it this way then noway is rng a factor they are just flat out better period.
Well stated. I’ll add to your bit about bronze and silver as opposed to diamonds.
Picture this: Sicily, 2021 (anybody older than 40 will get that). Two players of equal skill face off, one with bronze team, the other with diamond. Does the all-diamond player automatically win? No. But it’s a much harder slog for the all-bronze player.
That’s how DD should be.

This is a perfect-perfect response. Your inputs were spot on and the result was a home run.
In other words, yes - this is exactly how it should be. Or at least in my opinion.

It seems @ChArTeRBuS_PSN ’s post blew right by you for strike one.
Sorry just keeping with the baseball analogies. It was explained that the card attributes should be the things that change pci size or timing window or speed of the meter or width of perfect line... those sorts of things. So for example a 99 pitch accuracy attribute might have a slower meter or a few pixels wider perfect line. Low energy may make the line move faster so even harder to hit perfect...
Thus attributes directly affecting input difficulty, and the inputs directly affect the outcomes.

No. Not guaranteed same results but better odds at getting a good result. Because each tier of card has different attributes.
There is a threshhold on cards i think SDS said 65 power or higher has a potential of hitting a dinger. But you still have to be able to square up the bat with the ball. And even then just cuz it has 65 power and you square it up does not guarantee a dinger it's just chances for a hit are increased. Hope this helps
And you also have to factor in type of pitch, location of pitch, type of swing you used to hit pitch. Alot of variables so the odds of this happening very often are slim.
