I had to laugh at the whole back and forth about being douchey yet the very first line you say after the whole thing of you coming off that way is to say that you help "scrubs" then go on to flex as hard as you can. Most of the time, I don't even read it all anymore because it gets lost when talk down to people. Even though you make great points, it just starts to read as I'm better than you and because of that, I know what's wrong regardless of what you think.
Just food for thought
Ok I apologize. Help players that haven’t closed the skill gap for themselves.
I mean Comon guys on here say “top players are always top players the games fine”
It’s like NO I had a 25-0 run my last World Series run in 19 and beat 2 top 50 players and now I can’t get out of division because the gameplay is not favorable to people who consistently can hit the ball.
Ppl can say it’s “bragging”. I call it falsifying a comment being made.
You went 25-0 to World Series in 19, this month... on a game over a year old that nobody good plays, come on man that’s not the way
And he knows it as he uses your same argument against his boogeyman who only got to the 700s because it's late in the game cycle so it's less competitive.
False I was 900+ in 19 several times. I was not World Series just late in a game cycle...don’t listen to this dude he’s talking out of the side of his face and still refuses to put the game in and play me in it...
You literally told me you made it 3 times.. it went from all the time to 3 times to 3 times because that’s the only times I tried, somehow you played 750 games and made it 3 times, I played 450 games and made it every month. You’re just not as good as you think you are and no, I haven’t played you in 19 because i don’t waste my time with 2 year old sports games
YOU are not as good as you think you are. Lol. I’m not elite but I’m above average you are not elite you are below that. All you do is brag about how good you are. You are a nerd and you are dodging a game because you know there is a possibility you lose because this game is random and then you will look stupid.
You act like I’m some below average guy because I didn’t have as many wins as you. Nah. I’ve beaten guys in the top 100. That’s not an impossible feat.
Am I ELITE? No. Am I way better then you think I am yes. This has happened before on this forum and I came to play. Won the first game with a top 25 player and then he beat me cuS I’m a nice guy and gave him a rematch
Is he elite? Yes. And I respect him. Did I beat him yes. Did he come back and beat me? Yea. And he tried very hard.
Which top 25 player did you beat? You make a lot of claims, brotha. Not gonna lie; it just gets to a point where they become harder and harder to believe.
Mitchhammond and he’s a savage. And I respect him. Beating him doesn’t mean I’m better then him either because I’m not.
I haven’t made a claim that isn’t true. I’ve posted proof of almost everything I’ve ever said....
This exact back and forth happened 2 years ago on this forum and it came down to a grudge match and I won it on his stream. Then we played again and he promised a mercy. He beat me 11-5 or something. The dude is really good.
You say “it’s hard to take me serious”
What exactly? What claim have I made that isn’t true.
Wait a second, are you the same guy that played Mitch with an all diamond squad and he had a bunch of bronzes?

Funniest part of this entire thread
I check swing every pitch for “timing”
LOLLLLL
Do tell, how do you check your timing? Do you just hope for the best? Do you strike out 10 times a game? Do you just pray to the Gods?
Sadly, no two games play the same online. In one game, you'll be early on 101 FB's, in another game you have to swing as soon as the ball leaves the hand to make late contact.
So, if you find it so funny, spread the secret you're keeping from the rest of us!
30 check swings on 6 innings you don’t have your timing down after 1 inning? I don’t see the same difference in games that you do , I guess in the words of demise my connection is just good enough to not have to worry about that. I never have to swing as soon as the ball leaves the pitchers hands and I’m certainly not check swinging every pitch like you are. Maybe go talk to your “personal friend CBrev” for tips on how to be good ️
Weird personal attacks, but that tells me everything I need to know about you, thanks for the heads up.
Yes, the better the internet connection, the more lag you experience. I am on Fiber in my house and the game is all over the place. When I play on wifi at work, it's much more stable. There are pages and pages of discussion on the how and why of that. But you are correct, your internet seems to be just right for stable game play.
For some of us, every inning is a completely different experience. As the game rubber bands back and forth to adjust it's an absolute nightmare. It's better if I'm the home team, but I don't want to always back out of games on repeat until I'm at home.
At no time have I ever stated that I check swing every pitch. If you had taken the time to read (I know, tough for you), you would have seen that I used one extreme example from my most recent game. I was offering a possible answer for the OP, certainly not taking a position one way or another on the mechanics.
Later in the thread, I discuss the welcome change with check swings coming to 2021. But go on, tell us how big of a man you are
"If I'm not actually swinging, I tend to check swing. Again, I get timing feedback, which is far more useful than sitting there and watching the pitch.
Work every pitch of every at bat, get as much data as possible, then use it to your advantage."
Practically said you check swing if you aren't swinging everytime
"I tend". A tendency is not an absolute, but sure champ
noun
noun: tendency; plural noun: tendencies
an inclination toward a particular characteristic or type of behavior.okay, nitpick all you want. however most, myself included, would say that you are abusing a broken exploit in the game. there is no reason to have to continually check for timing purposes throughout the whole game. it's all good though, this cycle is almost done and if you find success with it in '21 more power to you. the blame for check swing exploits is on SDS IMO, not the user, if SDS fixed it, it wouldn't be an issue.

Come now and tell me check swings don’t bail out bad hitters.
I didn't even read this whole thread so i don't know where convo is going.
But based off the image you are showing your pitching needs alot of work. Sorry but if this your arguement of why checkswings are broke please do us a favor and dont put up pitch placement photos like this and blame it on checkswings.
Sorry to come across so abruptly but you need to use other parts of the zone if you are gonna throw that many low pitches. I mean at least get them to think it could possibly come in higher.
Did you miss the part where one of the lead game designers yesterday admitted check swings were broken? If the other player is constantly biting at those pitches why would he throw it somewhere else? The fact there were so many check swings in the first place shows how busted the mechanic was.
The good news is, in that game scenario from the photo, there is going to be more strikes called. User ability decides check swing success.
Actually no i did not miss the stream and i didn't hear them admit anything. In fact what i heard was they said it was a hot topic among the community.
I wouldv'e check swung to with all those garbage low and away pitches. Why should the guy swing at garbage out of zone? Based off of picture is proof pitching online is horrendous
Umm, why would you check swing too? If the pitches were that bad, why hit your button at all? The whole purpose here is using your vision to identify the pitch location and take the pitch not check all the time. Fact is we all get fooled occasionally, but any improvement to the flawed check swing mechanic will be an improvement. Just taking the discipline rating variable out of it will be a huge win.
Me and the OP already discussed this and i got more context so i understand where he is coming from.
Now to answer your question. If i had no context and was solely based off of picture.
First i would say b/c i'm not a robot. You said the whole purpose is to use vision and take the pitch. No the whole purpose is to explain why check swing are broken. Why can't checkswing be used as a tool? If somebody pitches bad like this, why can't a batter use checkswing to make pitcher think he wants a pitch there to draw walk or or push it opposite field?
there are reasons to use it, no doubt. my personal is with pitcher at plate, i will use contact swing for check on 1st pitch so user thinks i'm swinging away and i might be able to get him to throw a few extra pitches by nibbling

@writetoshawn_psn said in Dear Checkswing Master:
When a person doesn’t win, the natural response is to rationalize the loss. Legitimate sounding excuses, most often in the form of blaming aspects of the game like checkswings, not getting rewarded, etc are used to cushion the blow to our egos by making ourselves believe that we were not in control and that we were victims of something outside of ourselves. It’s a fundamental defense mechanism in psychology called “rationalization”.
I know I’ll get a lot of pushback for not validating the struggles here. Certainly not out to do that. I’m not a good player by any means, but from starting MLBTS (this past May I think), I enjoy the game a lot because I take what the game offers and use it to my best ability.
There are things that need to be addressed, but what you said applies to most these people I see post about why they lose. Like it even matters. The game will never get to where it needs to be without a new physics engine. Still don’t have collision detection.

I agree with you about the balls in the dirt and your other statements but high sinkers should be a ball that doesn’t have the intensity of movement that it has in the game —it wouldn’t sink and would just go flat and get crushed
I use sinkers as they are effective. Especially a sinker cutter repertoire but I do think sinkers need to some how be a pitch that is effective as it’s used and not be able to be so dominant high in the strike zone. But it’s not a deal breaker for me.

Practically said you check swing if you aren't swinging everytime

an inclination toward a particular characteristic or type of behavior.okay, nitpick all you want. however most, myself included, would say that you are abusing a broken exploit in the game. there is no reason to have to continually check for timing purposes throughout the whole game. it's all good though, this cycle is almost done and if you find success with it in '21 more power to you. the blame for check swing exploits is on SDS IMO, not the user, if SDS fixed it, it wouldn't be an issue.
lol, it's not nitpicking to correct your lack of understanding of language. Or, you putting words in my mouth to strengthen your otherwise weak argument.
If it's in the game, people use it, period. If SDS didn't want it in the game, they would remove it.
If you don't like things that are in the game, there are other games out there. Don't hate a guy for using the tools given to him.
You sound just like the guys that come in here and post things like: "I'm so tired of people throwing curveballs in the dirt over and over" Or "Sinkers are too OP, remove them!"
The sinker high just shows you why they need a new physics engine. They can’t even keep the 1st baseman on the bag with a liner hit to right field because of a lack of proper physics. So they use duck tape, they pull him off the bag so the runner has no chance of getting thrown out. They can’t represent velocity, time, or distance properly with what they are using to create game. The scaling of players to the field seems to change year to year as well because they attempt to get it right. So easy to do, switch to a new physics engine. This game will not be next gen until 2023 is my guess.

It's better if I'm the home team, but I don't want to always back out of games on repeat until I'm at home.

to be fair about the hits to RF, how often does that play result in an out IRL? it happens more than it should in the show. if the AI actually showed a little hustle it would rarely if ever happen(which is why it occurs in real life) didn't realize there was a laziness attribute in the game, outfielders throwing the ball back in applies here too.

They designed the 1B not covering the bag on balls to RF intentionally. I believe it was changed two years ago. The issue was the runner would go into a show down animation because the game registered the hit. There were people abusing that animation and making throws to sneak outs. It is a very rare occurrence to throw a runner out at 1B from RF.
There is a way to force the 1B to cover the bag, I won't be divulging that information though.

That was the entire point. They can’t currently properly represent that specific situation due to a lack of physics engine.

Again, that’s the entire point I was making. They can’t currently represent time, distance, and velocity properly. They use a work around because they know this, so they pull the 1st baseman off the bag.

"I tend". A tendency is not an absolute, but sure champ
noun
noun: tendency; plural noun: tendencies
an inclination toward a particular characteristic or type of behavior.okay, nitpick all you want. however most, myself included, would say that you are abusing a broken exploit in the game. there is no reason to have to continually check for timing purposes throughout the whole game. it's all good though, this cycle is almost done and if you find success with it in '21 more power to you. the blame for check swing exploits is on SDS IMO, not the user, if SDS fixed it, it wouldn't be an issue.
lol, it's not nitpicking to correct your lack of understanding of language.
Again, that’s the entire point I was making. They can’t currently represent time, distance, and velocity properly. They use a work around because they know this, so they pull the 1st baseman off the bag.
It's not an issue with any of those. It's the AI logic of the base runner. Do you want the game to look natural or should the runner sprint down the line on every hit? People can't help themselves in the game sometimes and try to take advantage of things, such as the slow animation arriving at 1B.
That's the reason, same reason why bunting is the way it is. People exploited it in 16 using the old physics engine. They were doing it again in 20.

I think some people are check swinging, and even swinging way too early on purpose (even if they know they're going to whiff) just to get their timing down on fastballs, as away to prove to themselves that they can, in fact, be early on 102 mph. Some of them are using it as a way to watch the pitch with the bat, if you will. I haven't tried this before, but I'm guessing it takes practice. Not everyone does this continuously.
My thoughts on check-swinging are that it shouldn't be removed completely, as the pitcher often has the advantage 80% of the time, like in real baseball, and hitters in real life try a lot of things to tip the scale.

It’s not that my man. The game lacks proper data input and to overcome such things that you brought up, they use bandaids. I’m not even sure the players are scaled properly relative to the field. It seems to change year to year.

It wasn’t removed completely from the game at all it just works now.
