It’s very hard to check swing but it def works. You go through more then you don’t...but Id much rather that and make people have better plate vision.

a ton of people (myself included) use check swings to check our timing, and with a check swing, you get the feedback. I check swing on strikes in the zone, placed in a location I don't like. It's a strike either way, and I get specific feedback on my timing without making contact.
MLB guys do this on virtually every pitch. You see them go through their stride to time things up. The video game doesn't give us this option, so check swinging is the next best thing.
Do you check 35 times per game?
If I'm not actually swinging, I tend to check swing. Again, I get timing feedback, which is far more useful than sitting there and watching the pitch.
Work every pitch of every at bat, get as much data as possible, then use it to your advantage.
I don’t think you ever needed to check your timing 35 times in a game, also... those pitches were all out of the zone. How can a good hitter be fooled that often? Look at the pitcture I uploaded again
I hear you man, just giving you other explanations as to why/how people use the game mechanic.
I just played a 6 inning game (he dashboarded) against Nolan Ryan. I check swung at least 30 times, he threw over 100 pitches in 5 innings.
I work the count to death, but I take advantage of the ability to time pitches up in the mean time.
Thanks for confirming its an exploit.
Lol, I’ve seen Brev work pitch counts to 100+ pitches in 4 innings and never seen him checkswinging that much... yes, it’s an exploit, you’re getting bailed out too Lucas.
Again man in just glad its fixed.
Gonna be a lot of whiney ppl in 45 days lol
There are gonna be a lot of people whining to bring an exploit back and they are going to try to back it with all sorts of real game data in attempt at supporting their argument to bring back check swings.
“When Roberto alomar was in his 2nd year with the blue jays he had a game against the Yankees where he successfully check swung 47 times therefore it needs to be in the game because it’s possible”
My guess is you finding out that SDS saving the whole game with this check swing fix still isn’t going to be enough for you to be a top player.
Then just like all of 2020, you’ll come on here bitching about each and every loss and how SDS sucks, and you’re done with the game. It’s all good though, I’d be pissed too if after 13 years, in the easiest version of game to hit, I was only hitting .278.Hopefully you find peace one day because your bravado is absolutely unbearable on these forums! ️
Jump on any game right now aside from 20. And I’ll smack you in it. Wanna bet? You have no idea how good I was in this game. I beat top players literally all the time. Yes I’m not good in 20. I was however good in 19. My last 2 seasons I hit 347 with my last season going undefeated. World Series 4 times. The game actually grew on me although I felt like it was flawed.
Lol. I don’t care what you think. In 19 I made it to the round of 16 in an ESL tourney and consistently hit over .300. And a better winning % clip than you. None of that matters though because you could be the best player in the world but you’re still unbearable and never contribute anything positive to this forum. And my guess is history doesn’t all of a sudden change.
Don’t go by lifetime stats there’s a lot of adjusting that some of us go through because the game has catered to players like you. That’s what my last 3 seasons looked like buddy — Btw a lot of those players you played in arent unbeatable.
Congrats again this isn’t about skill. Because my ego isn’t attached to if I win or lose in MLB the show. You’re still a whiner that talks down to people and brings nothing but aggression and negativity.
Let’s say all goes your way, you’re a top player, you’re smacking noobs like me all day everyday. My guess is you’re still an unpleasant person on these forums.
My ego isn’t either you are the one talking smack because I want the game to be improved. Shut your mouth and you wouldn’t get me bragging about how I’m better then you.
Your ego clearly is I said what I had to say because it’s true. All you do is whine and complain and when you’re not doing that, you’re bragging and talking down to people and being Mr. Know it all.
you may want the game to improve, but you have a terrible way of going about making your points by putting people down, over exaggerating, using extremes to make a point, biased arguments, etc, etc etc. I’m done now. I hope you find peace though ️
No what I do is point out flaws that help scrubs. I praise the game when it’s good. I said nothing negative about the beta.
But sensitive soft easily offended people like you are the reason they’ve dumbed this game down.
I don’t BRAG what I do is defend myself because very low IQ people like you automatically assume because a person says something negative about the game they are bad. Well that prompts me to tell you how I have multiple 12-0 br runs and World Series runs over the years so obviously I’m not that guy. But you want me to be that guy because you want the game to cater to you.
I want the same thing as you dummy where are you even getting the stuff you’re saying? I want a competitive skill based game. And I could give a [censored] less about check swings anymore because as is in 21, it’s going to benefit me. I’ve said that. Im calling you out for how you act and you continue to prove it! So thanks for that
Let me put it this way. There is a very small percentage of people that are competitive in this game and you may be one of them. Numbers don’t prove it. But that’s besides the point.
My point is that these folks already have a minority opinion, based on what you say. I agree with that. You may be right about plenty of things but the way you go about it makes you look like an elitist [censored] and nobody takes you seriously. In turn, making the competitive community bad. Which, along the lines of everything else is why I’m calling you out, but you’re too in your head to realize that.If the competitive community would be HARSHER and speak out MORE instead of just accepting garbage then maybe I wouldn’t feel the need to say something.
Seems like they are finally sick of it. I notice a lot of things early that seemed to be a thing later FIRST DAY of the beta I noticed meatballs being left over the plate ... since my strong suit is pitching it hurt me more then a strong suit hitter. know what the competitive community told me? Get good. Until it happened to them...all of sudden it wasn’t me “crying” it was me noticing something that was a problem...

That’s how it is supposed to be, based on your skills and not RNG. Guys like the dude that made me create this post wouldn’t stand a chance, let alone get to the 700s

no offense to you because I kind of agree with a lot of points you make but if the game was made for your caliber of player then you wouldn't have a game to play. Period.
you 5%'ers think you're the life blood of the game but you're not. What you put into the game revenue-wise PALES in comparison to what us casuals will spend (just in buying the game in the first place).
Point out the game flaws from your perspective but stop thinking your level of play is the only level of play allowed and insulting anyone who thinks different because they are using a different lens for which they play the game.
That said, check swings in TS20 and TS19 have sucked and I am glad they are addressing it and looking to tighten up the mechanic.
I can respect this opinion. And I understand what you are saying but all Im asking for is that the gameplay be the deciding factor in the game. That’s not really a lot to ask. Everyone can enjoy the game if it’s this way.
It would annoy you too if you spent time closing a skill gap and someone that just bought the game was able to score because the game just decides to put fastballs down the middle. And let them check swing to draw walks and foul off everything until they get a mistake. In the short term this seems like a solution to the game...but in reality it makes for a bad game. Think of implementing that kind of thing in another video game...call of duty for example.
It doesn’t really make sense and I’m glad they are abandoning this model. And in the long run...people will appreciate the game more as a whole. Not just people that played for a long time but people will feel like they actually earned a victory.
Because even in victory...I don’t feel like I win in 20. It’s like a lottery.
The argument that you and the other posters got into is funny because you're both wanting the same things. They weren't actually talking against your points/perspective - just the elitist douchey way in which you go about it.
It's somewhat funny listening to the elite complaints about the dumbing down of the game for us casuals (I'm not really casual I'm just very average at the game despite putting in time to try and get better) because you'd almost think the elites are being held back which they are not.
The ppl who usually make WS every year still make WS. The people who usually win tournaments every year still win tournaments. The people usually relegated to AS (like me) are still toiling away in AS, maybe creeping to DS or CS once/twice a year if we're lucky.
"Dumbing" down might allows players on the difficulty fringes to creep into the next levels. Is that really so horrible? Is that worth the elite getting up in arms and snotty about?
[censored] on aspects of the game which make no logical/realistic sense (Checkswings, foul balls) but "dumbing" down the game isn't likely altering the competitive balance of the game in the way elites actuly think.

See this is was I mean. Not trying to be douchey. But I think my last season I went undefeated and made World Series. I’m still not “elite”. Because I can’t do that consistently — but I can make WS pretty consistently.
I can barely get out of division series in 20. That’s not because “the game is harder”. Or I “just became bad”. Or “people became better”
I can can still get on any mlb game before this one and even the beta and succeed. 20 is a random series of algorithims. You can believe me or not. But I’m telling you ... it is.
I can not get lucky and go undefeated in the season before 20 drops and then just not be able to get out of division in 20. All the things I complained about they fixed because ... maybe I’m right? They mentioned in the stream “we tried to take out as much randomness as we could”. Know why? Because they realized the game is random.
Not only are the inputs random. The pci is random. Go online and just press x. It changes your pci movement even if you don’t touch it. THE GAME IS RANDOM.
The hitting results are random. The pitching results are random, the pci movement is random, it’s a baseball simulation.

I didn't even read this whole thread so i don't know where convo is going.
But based off the image you are showing your pitching needs alot of work. Sorry but if this your arguement of why checkswings are broke please do us a favor and dont put up pitch placement photos like this and blame it on checkswings.
Sorry to come across so abruptly but you need to use other parts of the zone if you are gonna throw that many low pitches. I mean at least get them to think it could possibly come in higher.

But you want me to be that guy because you want the game to cater to you.
no offense to you because I kind of agree with a lot of points you make but if the game was made for your caliber of player then you wouldn't have a game to play. Period.
you 5%'ers think you're the life blood of the game but you're not.
And here’s the other thing. You call me “douchey”. But you don’t call the guy “douchey” that’s telling me my take on the gameplay is “because I suck and can’t handle sucking”
Me talking about what I’ve done as far as accolades is I’m RESPONSE to that kind of talk. I’m not just running around saying how good I am. It’s like
“The games random”
“No you just suck”
“I’ve had many flawless runs, World Series runs and even went undefeated”
“Stop bragging douche”
It’s like — no. That’s not bragging that is falsifying the comment that i suck... but I’m the douche?

Come now and tell me check swings don’t bail out bad hitters.
Did you miss the part where one of the lead game designers yesterday admitted check swings were broken? If the other player is constantly biting at those pitches why would he throw it somewhere else? The fact there were so many check swings in the first place shows how busted the mechanic was.
The good news is, in that game scenario from the photo, there is going to be more strikes called. User ability decides check swing success.

I had to laugh at the whole back and forth about being douchey yet the very first line you say after the whole thing of you coming off that way is to say that you help "scrubs" then go on to flex as hard as you can. Most of the time, I don't even read it all anymore because it gets lost when talk down to people. Even though you make great points, it just starts to read as I'm better than you and because of that, I know what's wrong regardless of what you think.
Just food for thought

Actually no i did not miss the stream and i didn't hear them admit anything. In fact what i heard was they said it was a hot topic among the community.
I wouldv'e check swung to with all those garbage low and away pitches. Why should the guy swing at garbage out of zone? Based off of picture is proof pitching online is horrendous

I'm just curious to see how good or bad I am in 21. Probably bad. I'm the guy who typically benefits from RNG. When I fire up the new "Competitive Mode" in MLB 21, I guess we'll see. But, I'm one of the guys that enjoyed the Beta. It felt more "real" to me.
If I can't compete with the big dogs online in 21, so be it. There's still plenty of stuff in DD to keep me interested.

Ok I apologize. Help players that haven’t closed the skill gap for themselves.
I mean Comon guys on here say “top players are always top players the games fine”
It’s like NO I had a 25-0 run my last World Series run in 19 and beat 2 top 50 players and now I can’t get out of division because the gameplay is not favorable to people who consistently can hit the ball.
Ppl can say it’s “bragging”. I call it falsifying a comment being made.

I dont think people are saying g top players are always top players so the game is fine. The game is far from fine. What I've always said is that the top players are always the top players because they are better than other players consistently. Thwy adjusted anything going on and make the game work for them. There is a reason these guys are always at the top of the leaderboard, year after year if they play enough.

I’ve line out consistently for 9 innings and thrown meatballs down the middle. I’ve adjusted to every game including 19. This game there is no adjustment. It’s a random series of algorithims.
I’m going to have to make a video. I’ve literally lined out with my first 12 batters then have not been able to hit a single spot with perfect meters and have had a ball dug out of the dirt 4 feet below the zone — sorry that’s not skill. And this isn’t a one time ordeal. It’s the gameplay. It’s really bad. I don’t like it. I don’t think it’s skill based. Some people do. I don’t see how maybe it’s because they have gotten luckier with the algorithims but I haven’t seen this kind of obvious simulation in any game before this one. Not even 19.
See 19 had a lot of line outs but it was pretty consistently like that so eventually the person putting better wood on the ball would win. 20 that isn’t that case at all. The person making the better inputs can absolutely lose.
Good news is. They changed it. 21 was refreshing. Everyone says I’m wrong but the developers changed their gameplay from all the things I happen. To notice wrong with the game? So they are wrong too? Would you be Happy with this gameplay being reset to next year?

Most of us can't "compete" with the big dogs online. This is a video game, not a job interview for a managerial position for the Yankees.
If you enjoy playing the game, play it. If you don't enjoy playing the game, there are lots of fantastic options out there.
Too many people here (not you obviously) put so much emphasis on records and winning, it defeats the purpose of a video game.

The majority of those pitches are offspeed that I was hiding in the tunnels from fastballs and pitches high in the zone. The discussion is that the checkswing mechanic is broken and that player was bailed out, his best season was 640ish and he managed to get to mid 700s because it’s easier this late in the game cycle, he was swinging away hoping for fastball and checking everything else, the player obviously knows how to exploit the flaw. I used the entire strike zone, those were mostly 0-2 pitches, he was swinging at everything, I think trying to get him to chase (which he did and got bailed out) was the right thing to do.
Edit: SDS admited checkswings are broken and now instead of being decided by RNG, depending on player skill you will be able to check with success or not.

Agree, I prefer the game stop rewarding my bad inputs and be forced to become better.

Ok that explanation paints a better picture of what was going on. So apologies for previous post but know that post was solely based off of picture. But yeah then i see issue.
It's hard for me to grasp b/c when i checkswing it's always called a strike so i quit using feature somewhere around May or June. So now people can checkswing with every Tom, Richard, or Harry in their lineup?
