You would have swung and missed and the guy that checked his swing noticed a bad pitch and stopped his swing. So the guy with the ability to check his swing is the better player.
Any good player would’ve taken those pitches and forced me to throw strikes. If I kept throwing the pitches out of the zone is because he had no plate discipline... the proof is all the checkswings, he started to swing and went to the bail out quirk every bad hitter uses... checkswing
It’s a game breaking mechanic. I played this game when it launched and then stopped for months and picked it up again. I didn’t realize how bad the check swing was. It’s the difference in a lot of games.
It basically tires pitchers out so they make mistakes and you can’t always go to your bullpen. And tiring a pitcher out is fine but not like that. It’s corny.

That’s how I lost my WS game this season, against that checkswing bandit...my bullpen was already taxed from previous games I had to sweat to win

a ton of people (myself included) use check swings to check our timing, and with a check swing, you get the feedback. I check swing on strikes in the zone, placed in a location I don't like. It's a strike either way, and I get specific feedback on my timing without making contact.
MLB guys do this on virtually every pitch. You see them go through their stride to time things up. The video game doesn't give us this option, so check swinging is the next best thing.
Do you check 35 times per game?
If I'm not actually swinging, I tend to check swing. Again, I get timing feedback, which is far more useful than sitting there and watching the pitch.
Work every pitch of every at bat, get as much data as possible, then use it to your advantage.
I don’t think you ever needed to check your timing 35 times in a game, also... those pitches were all out of the zone. How can a good hitter be fooled that often? Look at the pitcture I uploaded again
I hear you man, just giving you other explanations as to why/how people use the game mechanic.
I just played a 6 inning game (he dashboarded) against Nolan Ryan. I check swung at least 30 times, he threw over 100 pitches in 5 innings.
I work the count to death, but I take advantage of the ability to time pitches up in the mean time.
Thanks for confirming its an exploit.
Lol, I’ve seen Brev work pitch counts to 100+ pitches in 4 innings and never seen him checkswinging that much... yes, it’s an exploit, you’re getting bailed out too Lucas.

Check swinging at FB's on the inside corner that are obvious strikes is getting bailed out? Check swinging at sinkers 3 inches outside is getting bailed out?
No, that is working on timing for a pitch that DOES come into the zone and is where I want it.
Check swinging at a curve ball 3 seconds early because you were fooled? Those are the guys you are talking about, and they DO get bailed out. I don't argue there.
I Know Cbrev personally, he's a top player. You are correct he doesn't need to check his timing, because he's a GOD at the game. Most of us aren't, and it's helpful to get timing feedback (unless of course you believe it's consistent across all games on SDS servers....cough cough).

It was 50/50 I'd guess (just a guess). Using Ryan, he was throwing a lot of sinkers middle in, right on the black. I have no interest in breaking my bat, but I still wanted to time it up for those pesky high sinkers.
I didn't check swing on breaking balls, because, it was Nolan Ryan who has the control of Wild Thing before glasses.
This was an exceptional example too. Knowing that Ryan is hard to control, I was almost always taking two strikes unless it was a meatball down the middle.

My guess is you finding out that SDS saving the whole game with this check swing fix still isn’t going to be enough for you to be a top player.
Then just like all of 2020, you’ll come on here bitching about each and every loss and how SDS sucks, and you’re done with the game. It’s all good though, I’d be pissed too if after 13 years, in the easiest version of game to hit, I was only hitting .278.Hopefully you find peace one day because your bravado is absolutely unbearable on these forums! ️

Jump on any game right now aside from 20. And I’ll smack you in it. Wanna bet? You have no idea how good I was in this game. I beat top players literally all the time. Yes I’m not good in 20. I was however good in 19. My last 2 seasons I hit 347 with my last season going undefeated. World Series 4 times. The game actually grew on me although I felt like it was flawed.
20 is the most noob friendly version of this game and in 21 I will be better then most. And def better then you.
Edit ** actually I think it was 327ish but I haven’t actually looked.

Lol. I don’t care what you think. In 19 I made it to the round of 16 in an ESL tourney and consistently hit over .300. And a better winning % clip than you. None of that matters though because you could be the best player in the world but you’re still unbearable and never contribute anything positive to this forum. And my guess is history doesn’t all of a sudden change.

Again man in just glad its fixed.
Gonna be a lot of whiney ppl in 45 days lol
There are gonna be a lot of people whining to bring an exploit back and they are going to try to back it with all sorts of real game data in attempt at supporting their argument to bring back check swings.
“When Roberto alomar was in his 2nd year with the blue jays he had a game against the Yankees where he successfully check swung 47 times therefore it needs to be in the game because it’s possible”
Don’t go by lifetime stats there’s a lot of adjusting that some of us go through because the game has catered to players like you. That’s what my last 3 seasons looked like buddy — Btw a lot of those players you played in ESL arent unbeatable. Don’t assume and make an [censored] out of yourself. I’m no scrub. And I barely lost in 21.

a ton of people (myself included) use check swings to check our timing, and with a check swing, you get the feedback.

I was wondering if there would be pushback to the new way check swings work in The Show 21.
Just let me say, as someone who is quite good at using the current leniency of "check" swing rulings in The Show 20 - I am totally ok with that advantage being taken away at the beginning of a new game release. If they would have changed it mid season, i would have been frustrated, but honestly, its not realistic or reasonable. Its not how baseball rules work so it needed to change.
The new way its handled in The Show 21 seems far more realistic and fair.We will all get used to it and the game will be better for it in the long run.
Taking advantage of the game engine is just something players will do, myself included....especially when we are not very good....but we cannot get angry when they fix a broken mechanic, even if it helped us.
Bottom line, the new game seems to call "check" swings using the actual rule. Whatever advantage or disadvantage it was before is moot. Its now in line with common sense.

No what I do is point out flaws that help scrubs. I praise the game when it’s good. I said nothing negative about the beta.
But sensitive soft easily offended people like you are the reason they’ve dumbed this game down.
I don’t BRAG what I do is defend myself because very low IQ people like you automatically assume because a person says something negative about the game they are bad. Well that prompts me to tell you how I have multiple 12-0 br runs and World Series runs over the years so obviously I’m not that guy. But you want me to be that guy because you want the game to cater to you.

a ton of people (myself included) use check swings to check our timing, and with a check swing, you get the feedback.
Don’t go by lifetime stats there’s a lot of adjusting that some of us go through because the game has catered to players like you. That’s what my last 3 seasons looked like buddy — Btw a lot of those players you played in arent unbeatable.
Congrats again this isn’t about skill. Because my ego isn’t attached to if I win or lose in MLB the show. You’re still a whiner that talks down to people and brings nothing but aggression and negativity.
Let’s say all goes your way, you’re a top player, you’re smacking noobs like me all day everyday. My guess is you’re still an unpleasant person on these forums.
My ego isn’t either you are the one talking smack because I want the game to be improved. Shut your mouth and you wouldn’t get me bragging about how I’m better then you.
Your ego clearly is I said what I had to say because it’s true. All you do is whine and complain and when you’re not doing that, you’re bragging and talking down to people and being Mr. Know it all.
you may want the game to improve, but you have a terrible way of going about making your points by putting people down, over exaggerating, using extremes to make a point, biased arguments, etc, etc etc. I’m done now. I hope you find peace though ️
I want the same thing as you dummy where are you even getting the stuff you’re saying? I want a competitive skill based game. And I could give a [censored] less about check swings anymore because as is in 21, it’s going to benefit me. I’ve said that. Im calling you out for how you act and you continue to prove it! So thanks for that
Let me put it this way. There is a very small percentage of people that are competitive in this game and you may be one of them. Numbers don’t prove it. But that’s besides the point.
My point is that these folks already have a minority opinion, based on what you say. I agree with that. You may be right about plenty of things but the way you go about it makes you look like an elitist [censored] and nobody takes you seriously. In turn, making the competitive community bad. Which, along the lines of everything else is why I’m calling you out, but you’re too in your head to realize that.
