Let's see if he was a product of Coors, or he can hit like DJ is, post Rockies

Still great defense so I mean even if he’s average that’s still a super upgrade from Carpenter.

Look at Matt Holliday.

SDS

It's almost weird at this point.

We just take franchise Rockies players.

Larry Walker, Matt Holliday, now Arenado.

I'm not too worried about Arenado's ability to hit outside coors

Larry Walker and Holliday did fine. D.J. LeMahieu did fine, Andres Galarraga did fine etc. So many examples of successful transitionss.

You guys and the Yankees.

The stats already show that he's just fine outside of Coors. Also DJ went to a sandbox...hitting in the Bronx isn't a huge downgrade...

I think Nolan is too talented, he will be fine.

He’s an average guy, not a home run guy. Not sure why the stadium would make a difference

Not a HR guy? He’s routinely hit 40, leading the league several times.

I think he was referring to LeMahieu.

Should have gone with ‘Arecardo’ 🙂

Well that's my point, it doesn't make a difference. OP was the one who brought DJ up, and field effects more than just HR results btw (exit velo, better pitches to hit as altitude zaps the break on breaking pitches, etc.) I'd also point out that DJ had a career high in HR in the Bronx...further adding to my point that him moving from Coors did not hurt him at all, it literally doesn't make a difference at all where he hits. And the splits show that the projections are Nolan will be successful outside of Coors as well. Not having the Coors effect isn't going to detour elite hitters when they no longer play there.

SDS

As long as it's not the NL East....

A Denver writer summarizes the deal:
"The point is that the Rockies are trading Arenado, and throwing in $50 million for the Cardinals to offset his $260 million contract and please take him away, because of their own mistakes. That’s what is sad. That’s what was painfully avoidable.

The Rockies are trading Arenado because they burned $70 million on Ian Desmond. Because they torched $106 million on a bad bullpen. Because they preferred Daniel Murphy over DJ LeMahieu, a future American League MVP. Don’t let them blame revenue losses from COVID-19 for why they sought an escape from Arenado's monster contract. Don't buy that baloney.

The Rockies are trading Arenado because of their own incompetence. They burned the single bridge a mid-market franchise can’t afford to burn — the bridge of trust between front office and best player. They ticked off a hard-working, competitive, historically awesome third baseman because of their own hubris. The Rockies chose GM Jeff Bridich over 3B Nolan Arenado. Let that sink in for a moment. Then pour another drink.

The Rockies general manager should apply for a job at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, or as a Colorado meteorologist. They are the three jobs you can keep despite being wrong over and over again.

There's certainly at least some small differences in hittinga different parks. I don't have dimensions but I'd be shocked if Yankee Stadium has a bigger OF than Coors. Bigger OF should mean a few more hits drop in plus bigger gaps for fielders to cover.
