SS Billy Wagner and the stub sale
-
I mentioned earlier about selling Wagner to buy Finest Bellinger and Hader. But a few of you said that Hader was a huge downgrade and that it would be useless to get him; because I would eventually want to buy back Wagner.
However, Wagner is up to 185K now (was at 150K when I first thought about selling him) abd those stubs could help me towards Honus.
Only problem is trying to figure out how far, after the stub sale ends, will Billy Wagner drop, so I can buy him back.
I know Billy Wagner is the best LHRP, and unless the release a way to get him again, the only way to get him would be from that innings boss pack or from the market.
But I can't see tying up that many stubs in one player. (Even though I tied up 5x as much to get Mays, but I havebt used gim alot (Mainly playing Conquest and Moments now)).
Thoughts?

Wagner has pitched over 150 innings for me in ranked seasons, and still has a sub-1.50 ERA. I just wouldn't sell my top lefty to add a worse lefty and an outfielder.
Plus, you can find a way to get enough stubs to just buy Hader. He's not that expensive.

Oh. I wouldn't sell him to get Hader and Bellinger. Id sell him to fund my run towards the remaining cards I need to get Honus.
I understand what everyone is saying about Wagner, but I have a grand total of 23 RS games under my belt and the last one I played was prior to me getting Wagner and Mays.
Only use for Wagner is the current Event and I already have enough wins for Bautista and any Conquest games I would play. But most of my Conquest games qte played on Rookie and by the time I close out the game, I'm already up 5-6 runs.
Maybe, once I complete all the previous content; I'll play some RS. But by then, I can have enough stubs saved up to buy him back.

Billy Wagner is one of those cards I'll never give up. Good lefty RP is so scarce in this game, and you should really have three of them in your pen.
-
They really should’ve put a 4th inning boss pack in the 11th inning program.
-
Wagner is so good, I bought him when he drop to 40k when the inning was live and locked him in for Honus. I see hie price now and laugh thinking of the bargain I got him at
-
Quick question about Wagner: When you flick the analogue a hair too far to the left or the right, does he throw it into the dugout like Miller does, or does he have a little better control than that?

While you laugh, I cry when I see his price thinking of the bargain I sold him at.

Wagner was the only one worth it, others were selling in the 35-40k range when program was released
-
If you can make up the stubs to rebuy Wagner why not just hold Wagner and make the stubs to buy hader?

That’s true, but why not still give us one? At the very least just to lower Wagner’s price, which is absurdly high.

I hear you, but at least he’s not at the Gagne price level.

Im not going for Hader. I was going to sell him to get some of the Golds needed for Honus. But when I noticed most of what i need are tied to early programs (and are running close to 10k for a Gold, I'm probably not going to get Honus.
Probably will keep Billy Wagner. But I see he is up to around 200K. If he gets any higher, I may have to take the chance and sell him.
Right as I got him, I bought Ripken for 15K, to lock the 3 of them in and Collect the 30K. But that's when I saw Wagner was at 120K. Add Ripken now being at 40K, and I made a mistake locking him in.
Anyway, I'm thinking next year that im going to work hard at getting any rewards early enough where I can sell early and buy back two of each. That way I can sit on one and hope they blow up in cost. (Gold Perez)

Very true, but still too high for an inning boss, regardless of how good he is.

That was a weird inning in general. If everyone knew how rare good/great lefty relievers were going to be, we would have all taken Wagner and the other two be have been ridiculously high. I’m pretty sure I took McCutch and sold him to buy Wags who was going for less when I hit 300 stars.

Only when his teammates are teasing him too much and calling him "Little Billy". That's when he fires a shot across the bow just so everyone knows he means business and lives in that danger zone between power and restraint

I’m having a issue with boss Wagner I never locked him into any collection cause I knew his was price would be always high and now it’s at 200k+ I want to sell him but can’t. Any ideas why?

Is he locked into your event roster or any of your rosters?

Honestly I slightly disagree that Wagner is super amazing, I use him but only of I go to extras or need a couple innings, my go to lefty is a free to get play 98 Andrew Miller he is lights out for me. I've faced Frank with both and Wagner gets lit up by Frank but 90% of the time Miller gets Frank out. Wagner is an amazing pitcher but I do better with Miller but that's just me. I had a buddy who said Miller sucked so I played him he brought Miller in and I tied the game down by 4 I brought Miller out to pitch and struck out the side on 9 pitches. So I think its user preferences. In regards to selling Wagner I'd say don't just because if his price does drop it wont be by much, however getting Bellinger is a must. I struggled with him at first but now he is one of my best hitters and that Lefty v Lefty pop is no joke, I've had guys bring out lefties to face him and 90% of the time they regret it
