The fact is, Bonds was an inner circle HOFer before roids. Then he became god.. many were using.. nobody could do what bonds did..
It's like Thanos getting the gauntlet haha.. I feel like a nerd saying that, but it's a great analogy -

Barry Bonds has the highest WAR of all time.
Where are you getting that from? I checked both fWAR, and bWAR have Ruth ahead
Ruth 168.4 fWAR 182.5 bWAR
Bonds 164.4 fWAR 162.8 bWAR -
I mean there’s literally no need to entertain this argument. If that’s what you think I’ll just keep in mind that I can’t take anything you say about baseball seriously. Bonds wasn’t a “great player” he was the best player. Numbers don’t lie, and If you want to discredit him due to the steroid stuff then explain to me why every steroid user didn’t put up these numbers?
Lol... exactly who is arguing that Bonds wasn’t the best player of his time? I never once said that. Did you read my other post about him using? I’m not discrediting him at all. He WAS the best player of his time with or without steriods. I’m not sure what your issue is. I said that you can’t compare him to all time greats because we don’t know what their numbers would be if they took the same “treatments” that Bonds did. Mays Mantle Ruth and Aaron just to make a few on steroids?? I can only imagine what numbers that they would have put up. Why exactly do you think that former super stars are so upset with steroid era players?
Either wake up or learn to read. -
It all depends on where you go to check WAR. Baseball reference has 3 plays ahead of Bonds. Ruth, Johnson, and Young.

So, total WAR, whether it be through Baesball Referance, or Fan Graphs, has Ruth higher, as well as higher offensive WAR, but you are going with positional WAR as your argument that Bonds was better? Obviously Ruth's pitching should come into play as well, considering he was great at that too.
I suppose if you are arguing that Bonds was a better overall outfielder, I guess you can make that argument. Otherwise, its Ruth all day, every day. No disrespect in being the second best baseball player of all time though, which would be Bonds.

It was a Red Herring. No disservice done at all unless you're Foolish BB and have fantasies about meeting Barry Bonds in a bar and tour the world as the two of you fall madly in love

Pretty accurate.
It's Babe and Bonds 1a/1b to me.. then Mays, and everyone else -
2020 hall of fame class is in game . So Jeter is coming!!!

I feel like whoever said Walker is better than Bonds was being sarcastic but nonetheless it’s been an informative debate.

Well can’t compare marichal to walker but definitely Walker better than other two!

Lmao if you’re arguing that Walker is better than Bonds you lose any credibility you ever had. Bonds is the best player to ever play the sport.
Imagine people saying that about Altuve, but you won't, because Altuve had a trash can. But you support a guy that used illegal drugs for half his career. Find your priorities, think about what your saying, edit the comment, and we will visit this again in the future
There was a trash can bang in 14 of Altuves 700 plus plate appearances in 2017. Correa has stated that Altuve did not want the bangs and would get pissed and get in guys faces when it did happen. I'm an Astro fan and what they did was wrong. But Altuve is not the dude yall should be pissed at. People have made him the face of this scandal. It's just dumb bc he plays the right way, is a good dude, and was against it. The face of this scandal should be Beltran and Cora.

Yes you are right, I literally did say that he wasn’t better then his own Godfather. But considering that his Godfather is Willie Mays and that they didn’t come close to playing in the same era, I guess you didn’t read it perfectly fine. Hmmmmm.... because nowhere did I say that he wasn’t the best player of HIS generation. He was the best player of the steroid era, that doesn’t make him the best of all time.
If you think that Willie Mays wouldn’t have put up numbers like that had he been on steroids then you don’t know anything about baseball. Once again I don’t care that Bonds used. It was all through the game at that point. Look at the all time greats that didn’t use and tell me that their numbers wouldn’t have been better ultimately. You’d be crazy... -

If he was against it, he would have said something. He kept quiet and gladly accepted a ring. Nice try, but if you see something that you know is wrong, you speak up. If not, you're as guilty as everyone else.

Ok. Well everyone from the mid 90's through 2005 is guilty of steroid use then bc they all knew it was going on

I think they are used to bail people out of jail. I don't know why we talking about bail bonds here but maybe somebody here needs to call Saul.
Better.

My favorite memory of Larry Walker:
My dad and I went to a Cubs/Rockies game at Wrigley 1997. The Cubs were winless to start the season at that point. We had seats in the right field bleachers.
For the entire game, the Cubs fans in right heckled Walker with harsh homophobic slurs, and trash talk about Canada. He did his best to appear he was ignoring them until the 9th inning.
Score is 4-0 Rockies, and the first out is recorded in the bottom of the 9th. Walker swings his arm and snaps his fingers in a "shucks" type of gesture. More intense fans hatred spews out at him. 2 outs, he kicks at the ground and snaps his fingers again like "darn it". Again the crowd is on him even more.
Final out of the game, and Walker finally turns to the bleachers, holds up his hand in a Zero. Then he took off his glove and proceeded to count off on his fingers to get to the Cubs record now of 0-12. He ran off to the infield with a grin on his face to some serious hate talk and a few thrown beverages.
He earned a lot of my respect that day, and both myself and my Dad still laugh when thinking about how he trolled those Cubs fans.
