Why would you want to buy a montior for a game that is BROKEN. Lets remember the best baseball game ever made was MVP 2005 HNADS DOWN. I mean even Baseball stars was better then this broken game. SDS is getting like EA sports with madden all they care about is DD they don t so no improvements for offline what so ever.Just read the forums to confirm that this game is BROKEN. Im gonna start playing MVP 2003,2004,2005 ON MY PS2 insted of this garbage. Heck even high heat baseballis better then this. Lets see here MVP 2005 you could create a stadium move it and it had online franchise and a number of other things that this game cant even touch why because they figure people will still buy it year after year and we are just supossed to accept it. Also there is a golf game called Tiger woods pga tour on the PS2 those were also great golf games as well. once again better then this TRASH of a game. There are lots of retro games out there that are still playable better then this game series for sure in which is fact. And other better games on the PS4 and xbox 1 to play that are better then this TRASH game.

Nostalgia noob. Did you also walk to school uphill both ways in the snow bare feet?

MLB Power Pros 2008 has entered the chat.

The mini modes in MVP were a lot of fun. They should implement online versions of those in the show. It would be fun to compete against people in modes like that.

That mess of a long running sentence hurt my brain.. no way I'm attempting to read that..
I'll just go ahead and assume you said mvp baseball 2005 is the best. And I'll agree with that. For it's time, it's the best baseball game ever. Great modding community gave it 3 more years of life too.Time to move on though. That was 15 years ago.

One thing is correct for sure , this game is trash . Got worse every year since 17 and is now broken unplayable garbage.
This is definitely just my opinion, but I thought 19 was as good as 17. Some things were worse, sure, but some things were definitely better. Line outs were ridiculous at times, but at least contact hitters were usable.

I never played MVP 2005, so I don't have the nostalgia glasses everyone else seems to wear. If I remember correctly, I played MLB 2K5 on Xbox that year. I watched this video clip about the game (link below) and honestly I don't see what the big deal is. The graphics look like [censored], which I realize is forgivable for a game that old. The guy in the video is talking about how great the pitching is because of the meter. I've used meter in The Show for years. Looks exactly the same to me.
I liked was the old timey grain that was applied at times, but even that was kind of done in The Show last year in the Babe Ruth moments, and I actually found it annoying then. Being able to move in the box could be interesting, but I'm not sure it's really necessary.
The hitting system the guy describes sounds a lot like directional to me, which everyone hates. Maybe I'm missing something there since I didn't actually play the game. Did MVP 2005 have a zone system too?
The guy in the video talks about how taking fielders out at second and home was a positive, but that was a sign of the times. That isn't up to SDS, so it isn't worth complaining about. If MVP was still around, they would be under the same restrictions.
Overall, I don't get the love for that game, but maybe you just had to be there. I've been playing baseball video games since SNES, and while The Show definitely has it's issues, I feel like you have to be blind to not see a positive progression. While the general consensus seems to be that The Show is a mess this year, that doesn't mean you should throw out years of progress. Nothing currently broken in the game is beyond fixing.

Now for a feature I would actually like to have back from an old game, I would love to see Expansion. This was from All-Star Baseball 2003 which I actually still own for Gamecube. Sure, you can do drafts in the current game, but this gave you a limited talent pool so you wouldn't be drafting anyone like Jeter. You had to start off small and build up. I think the best players you could draft were around B- or C+ skill level.

It's definitely a case of "you had to be there at the time".. mvp 2005 played very nicely. It was fair, yet challenging. The graphics at the time were actually very well polished. Overall it was an incredibly polished game. Great soundtrack, awesome rating system.
Meter and directional were new then, and was revolutionary.Of course it looks like garbage compared to today. But in 2005 it was awesome.
Also, modding for the PC version kept it fresh years after. Huge community.
They redid faces, stadiums, rosters, pretty much everything. Because the best part of the game was the gameplay. It didn't need changing. -

The best baseball game is pickup games at the park with your friends. That is as long as that beast of a dog next door doesn’t get ahold of the ball.

All Day.
Triple Play 2000 gets votes. That "ball cam" on no-doubters is still the best homerun view in baseball video game history.

My opinion is graphics better every year and gameplay worse every year, only real improvements since 17 besides graphics are catchers blocking the ball this year. I only play franchise but unlike many I don’t need anything added to franchise just absolutely need gameplay to be back to playing real organic baseball. Base running has taken several steps backwards, their so called fielding upgrades are a joke, much worse. The tuning of the game is off in so many ways and when I make slider changes to fix a problem it just creates other problems. I am totally sick of the built in drama in games . I would just love to get back to playing a real baseball game again. Went back to 17 again 2 weeks ago and having great games again but it’s hard to adjust back to the graphics. Never thought I would say this but at this point I don’t ever see myself buying this game again but that’s ok with them as because I don’t play DD or RTTS so I don’t spend enough money to matter.

I'm played almost every game since the 80s & enjoyed most of them, EA had some great baseball games but the show beats them all, I've always preferred Sony baseball even during the 989 years.
There was one ea baseball game where you could play on other planets, got a kick out of that.

You spelled Slugfest incorrectly.

Been saying this for years, if it was the OLD EA and they had a current gen game this Show mess wouldn't stand a chance, buggy game, rigged loot drops and RNG, no thanks! I will play conquest maps but other than thatI moved on to Red Dead 2, Borderlands DLC and MK

I think Nes-CLassic92b8 started this post cause he opened a pack and didn't get the player he wanted so he's throwing a noob hissy fit.

I never played MVP 2005, but i'd bet any amount of money that somewhere on the Internet there's a no longer visited forum filled with posts like, "MVP 2005 is Trash! Why does anybody play this broken game?" or, "I lost today, but i'm perfect and i never lose so it must be the developers fault!" or, "(whatever game was popular three or four years prior) was perfect! Why can't 2005 be more like that?"

MVP was good, but SNK Baseball Stars for NES was the best. Still like MLB better...
