Were you doing a quick pickoff move or deceptive pickoff move? The only thing i can think of is if Morton is bad at pickoffs and you are attempting a deceptive move each time.

Wow this is a new one. The one I have been experiencing as well is I hit a pitch with good timing but goes foul. Feedback initially says Good/Good but then switches to late/good.
Its happened to me multiple times playing online as well as playing showdown and conquest. I really think they throw some coding to give the lesser skilled player an edge.

Shockingly picked a runner off last week....moments after I told someone the game never allows that....not in the last three years I've played

That really is embarrassingly bad.
I often switch back to pulse pitching in this situation, and alternate between the three pickoff moves and stepping off. You should have had him.

I can't humour you, but I can sympathise with you. Unless I'm missing something. How long were you holding L2? How many taps of O? What are your fielding throw settings? These might have something to do with it.
I'm certainly not disputing that you've got a case. Those two steps should definitely be ripe for a pick-off.
Look...give me some credit here. I know how to pick a guy off. I don't even lead off anymore online because you'll get picked quick this year.
A guy who I know presses his buttons correct said, "If you take a 2 step lead you're going to get picked every time". Which should be the case, right?.....
Except when you have an all diamond lineup against a level 23 bronze who clearly doesn't know that you're not supposed to take a 2 step lead.
I use button accuracy to answer the question. I tried it all and couldn't pick him off in 7 attempts
No offence intended, just trying to help out as I didn’t know how much experience you had. As I said, I reckon you’ve got a case there for a legitimate complaint.

Lol don’t take time out of your day to disprove people like him. They disappear into another thread and play with each other elsewhere. Yeah were you holding circle to try deceptive move or just tapping? Either way that's super frustrating. I know they still have the "Pickoff Artist" quirk for some pitchers (Blake Snell I know), but I wish they had a specific stat for pickoff moves or showed how they rate them. I know Morton's overall fielding stats are pretty poor, but this is silly.

I posted this after seeing Chuck give that kid a hard time about getting picked off.
Can somebody tell me why the game wouldn't let me pick this guy off? Please humor me....
It's TRUE man. I had a guy taking two extra steps with a Frank Thomas .I couldn't pick him off...sometimes catching him mid-step. I finally freeze him and my pitcher throws a dribbler to 1st base to get back in time. I have his hitter 0-2...I was thinking hes going to try some shenanigans...so I call for a pitch out....I was correct...but my catcher drops the ball on the transfer .
Million dollar question...
Did Frank Thomas score?
Yes but only after he stole third...and was safely squeezed in by Johnny Bench
