The joke is that the Dodgers IRL bought up all the talent and thus collecting their team will be ridiculously expensive. (The other side of that is collecting the rest of the teams should be cheaper so it all evens out, but that's not as funny so it goes unsaid.)

I thought last year in the first third of the year they were going a little too hard with the packs and the live series rarity/high caps. But once we hit the summer series with 4500 quick sells, stubs were flowing as freely as ever, and not just for people who cheesed diamond quest. And it ended up being easy to get all the cards (unless you missed Bregman like I did)
I expect similar this year. There will be complaints early on, but by August it will be a non issue.
We do know the live series quick sell prices are the same at least for what thats worth.
I am a little baffled that SDS hasn't tried other ways to earn income, if they released an inning pass that doubled pack rewards for example. People would buy the [censored] out of that.

I would never buy stubs. Absolutely no value in them at the price point they are selling them for.

It was Diamond Dynasty ratings
I did not watch the whole thing but from what I saw they were just counting down the top 100. Basically any player that was not a gold was not shown
Since no Cardinal even made the list I stopped watching it.

Kind of interesting that Svanson ended as a 80 and stayed an 80 while Winn apparently dropped at least 4 OVR levels from an 83 down to a silver.
I assume it is because 2025 was Svanson's only year so there was no other history.

@Dolenz_PSN It’s supposed to be the last 3 years, but that doesn’t really explain that discrepancy. SDS does weird things with rankings. Like keeping Mike Trout a diamond while making Machado a gold every year.

@SaveFarris_PSN Don’t hate them for doing what the system has created and allowed. This is coming from a Pirates fan. If we could do what they are doing I’d be all for it. It’s legal and Scott Boras loves it, so the union loves it. The day of reckoning draws near though.

@lhubison58_xbl, I'm with you. The Pirates are a perfect example. If you can't make enough money with PNC and Skenes on the bump every 5th day to field a competitive roster, you need to sell the team immediately to someone who can.

There is a fix. A floor, a cap, and a revenue sharing system that goes near 50/50.

I'm not going to lie, it feels a little gross as a Mets fan to overpay for players where other teams can't.
But the flip side is that the organization has been doing a good job lately with the farm system, and that is always fun to root for

A salary system hasn’t eliminated the Browns, the dodgers will still be good because of their development and identification of talent is great. It just levels the playing field.

Nutting makes too much money off the Pirates. He Will not sell them. The ONLY hope is a salary cap floor. I think with revenue sharing in place, this is the fairest way to do it. At that point yes, if you are not gonna spend the money, you have to sell to someone that will. Rich owners at this point need to push the cheap owners out of the league.

Can't agree. I have to be ideologically consistent. And I can also point to a recent example to back up my hypothesis: the 2012-2016 Astros. They stripped everything to the bone and were Bottom 3 in payroll 5 years running. And all it did was lead to 2 Titles, 3 Pennants, and 8 straight Playoff appearances.
Would the 2014 Astros have been better off signing middle-tier FAs like Joe Nathan and Rafael Furcal instead of letting rookies Dallas Keuchel and George Springer take all the reps?

That's very fair, but they also hit on most of those top picks which is still such a crapshoot in baseball. Mark Appel was a big miss. Springer/Correa/Bregman on the other hand ended up being the backbone of those championship teams.
Again, not knocking how they rebuilt, but you still need a little luck with these big picks to pan out and they struck gold three times in that span.
