So tell me, other than some lucky pulls from earned packs, which is a rare occurrence, how are people supposed to earn stubs for these packs?

I don't see what the big deal is with the packs in the shop. We all know that eventually they will be in a reward path of one of the upcoming programs. We'll be able to earn them soon enough.

That was based on the WBC. My lord are you this dumb in the real world?
While this doesnt deserve a response, the fresh start idea could have easily been made into a WBC sized program. Its a great concept for a pre-season program. And I bet people would have loved it.
And if you want a more direct comparison, Mexico City vs Seoul

Based on last year's model? Sure. But this clearly isnt last year's model.
The next content drop isnt scheduled until next Friday, and it will be TA which is unlikely to have choice packs because then they would have to do it x6. (To be fair, the storylines are pretty cool so there is something on Friday this week...just not specifically themed towards DD which is fine. Just more reason the Topps Now should have been bigger)
Programs so far have all been small and packless with no reason to think that will change. If Topps Now only has 4 cards what hope is there for future ones?

@SDS PLEASE STOP TURNING INTO EA. WE PLAY YOUR GAME TO GET AWAY FROM EA. DO NOT BECOME THEM

why are they greedy? I usually don't follow the DD politics. Last year they gave us all 99s day 1. I think many of us didnt like that. Is that why they're being called greedy? because now we have to progress thru DD like other years except for last year?
Do me a favor. Go to the store, count all the pack options available, then look at the prices, study them and memorize the prices, then look at the best cards you could get.
After you're finished, go take a look at the market prices. If u hit the big diamond round, congrats, here's an extra 20-30k stubs! If u don't, you lose half your stubs.This is one example of how greedy they are. But they're so dumb, those players and dropping 40k on those packs just isn't worth the risk for those with half a brain.
Also, they allow u to earn 4 captain cards through the xp path. I've gotten all 4. Then they decided it would be cute to put the captain cards in the store for 25k each. Only a small handful of those cards qualify as top meta options. Instead of allowing us to earn every captain, we can only earn 4 and must buy the rest.
That's another example of unnecessary greed.There are more, but think I've described 2 examples fairly well.

@LuvMyXBOX Just the typical forum whiners.

Omg, someone finally sees what I've seen! EA are the worst! I still play Fifa, but gave up on Madden.
This is borderline what EA does. But I will admit, EA is worse. Ppl drop thousands hoping to get R9, Dinho, Pele, Cruyff, Gullit, Viera, etc. It's a disgrace. And the pack weights are so bad! -
@Blind_Bleeder
I think a lot of users were looking forward to a bigger program to grind... with more xp and greater rewards to earn, rather than purchase. So in that regard, this drop disappointed a lot of users. -
Crazy concept that you have to use in-game-currency to buy things in this game.

So in that regard, this drop disappointed a lot of users.I can see that. After last year, our rewards are very disappointing. I have to keep reminding myself of the days when we only had golds for the first couple of weeks and maybe, maybe a diamond in a reward path. I think it's somewhat funny (strange like) that people were livid last year because of all the early high diamond cards, and now they're livid because of the lack of good cards.

@TubaTim90
Yeah, for a while this game was different than other sports games, as far as being able to grind for the best cards. They were not just "pay to win", like the rest. I understand their change in philosophy and I do not blame any company for wanting to increase revenue... as long as they do not go to far. While I do not like some of the changes over the last couple of years, I still enjoy this game and want it to grow. Hopefully they will find ways to keep their gamer base engaged. We'll see. -

Grow up... His point is that he (Teak) wants more content, regardless of the program. You can disagree, but calling him "dumb" just makes your other forum input seem less substantial.Disregard me and feel free to dive into the 50 posts about hair and XP caps. All anyone did was cry about Mexico City from what I recall. Now we need an entire program about a 2 game series. Should we bring the monsters back? Are they now cool?

This drop today is kinda weird...not much to do..cards are blah....just don't buy packs

I know...and I am not disagreeing with you. You offer good input. I am just saying it is ok to disagree, abeit a little more elegantly. lol -

Guess no stubs for me this year, I hurt (several)things just watching that.

I think you are missing a lot of the arguments here.
People last year complained all year that the program rewards were not as good as shop rewards. So that's not new. And between spring breakout, TA, and Easter there are definitely some good cards to be found that can compete with the higher pack cards.
However, the amount of pack cards is increasing, and the amount of free cards is decreasing substantially. Just because Topps Now cards werent 'meta' in the past doesnt mean they should be cut in half. I know I'm not the only one who enjoyed using the Drew Maggis of the world in their offline play. And they bolstered theme teams as well, I used Brandon Nimmo online right up until his finest dropped.
-
It really feels like the offline players are getting screwed this year in this game. We could complete collections and programs just by getting the cards you got playing offline. This year feels like they are trying to force everyone into online play modes as well as spending money to get packs or stubs. Just feels like the amount of free cards from completing programs, conquests, and mini seasons is nothing compared to years past. Add that to having most extra xp available only in multiplayer modes, a lower xp cap, lower xp rewards, and you get a game that went from being by far the best ultimate team mode for offline players to just another fully focused on taking your money and forcing you into online.
Also, what happened to all the ways to earn the packs to possibly pull the cards that they are only releasing in special packs alongside programs. Not even one pack at the end of the program to have a chance at the better cards?
-
Reading through this thread, I am amazed that people aren't even a little bit embarrassed by throwing a toddler's tantrum and stomping their feet because they can't immediately have all the cards in the game just two weeks in. Is this really important enough to spend so much energy to look so ridiculous? Really. Those of you flailing against the walls because your one-time purchase of a video game doesn't entitle you to a free and constant stream of never-ending content that you deem worthy should be ashamed of yourselves for being so petty.
Is SDS really greedy because you can only grind for four Captain packs and have to buy four others with in-game currency that no one forces you to pay real money for, or do you think that the real definition of greed is something closer to the compulsion to have all of the Captain packs and the saltiness you exude when you can't have all the things you want, right now? Think that the over 250 diamond cards that exist exactly 2 weeks after launch is insufficient? Perhaps you should meditate on what the word "greed" really means...
