Yeah, the Topps Now for August aren’t bad at all. About 90 minutes for me in those. (The Mauricio moment took most of my time there. 15 tries ). About 2 hours on the Monthly Awards. They’ve been a pain. And I’ve skipped several of those.
To me this amount of time commitment is excessive. You shouldn’t have to spend that much time on moments. An hour tops, then you should be playing BR, RS, Events, or Conquest/CPU. Who wants to spend this much time plus on this mind-numbing game mode?
I can definitely see that side of it. Honestly, I view it as a great way to get a bunch of cards to complete Set 4 collection. I think I’ve gotten 25+ cards tonight.

Yup now up to 100 cards in set 4, including Trout who i absent-mindedly locked in last night, no matter it's not like i was selling him.

They’ve nerfed the power on the Lowe and the Carpenter moments. Those guys haven’t gotten anywhere close to a homer. Lazy fly ball after lazy fly ball.
Thanks for the heads up, will skip those
The other one I couldn’t get was 3 K’s with Swanson. He doesn’t throw hard enough to strike anyone out.
Bounce the split,I got an immaculate inning on that one, they couldn't stop swinging at it
Funny how Moments are. I threw that splitter low, lower, lowest. They consistently would not swing at it for me. Or it was weak contact. Which is no good for that particular moment.

I don't hate Moments.
I don't like getting stuck on them.
I see many don't, but none of you came up with a replacement for Moments....... -

As others have pointed out , 20+ moments in a program is too many. Half that, at best.
By all means, please make them way more straightforward. Turn down the sliders (behind the hood) so that we can experience the moment as intended. When we are taking 20+ times to finish them, something is off. If I play regular baseball and work counts and take pitches and only swing at strikes, I should finish a moment in a couple of tries max. And program a moment so that perfect/perfect satisfies the requirement. Or is at least a hit
For those that say that’s not real baseball, well I counter with that these moments aren’t either. They are typically past events that DID happen. So, set me up in a scenario where it WILL happen. No dotting corners or gold glove fielders or anything along those lines.
Finally, put the team out there exactly as it was in the moment. If SDS doesn’t have the guys rights, make up the player. “BP pitcher”, for example is already in the game.
Let me experience the moment as it happened. Not 20 times later where I’m frustrated and don’t remember why I’m even doing this or the relevance of the moment.
Thanks for reading.

Kinda find it intriguing that you guys can’t stand moments but are completely ok playing cpu on rookie… against the same sh*t pitcher….at the same elevated stadium…hitting homer after homer overr and overrrr again.
Atleast with moments you’re using new guys at mostly different locations

I don’t play cpu. I play conquest because I have to, but I don’t play nine inning games against the cpu. If I ever finish all the moments and showdowns and conquest maps, I play ranked. Playing ranked is all I really want to play, but I don’t get to play that mode that much, because in order to field a competitive team for that mode, I have to complete 58 moments and 10 conquest maps and 10 showdowns.
I’m glad you like moments, though. SDS should rest easy knowing at least one user enjoys them.

Please don’t read this and think I’m being snarky. Just trying to give you my perspective….
“Playing CPU on rookie….hitting homer after homer….” = success and is fun!
Doing the August Monthly Awards Lowe Moment over 20 times before getting it (or skipping it) = Failure, frustration and is definitely not fun!!!
For me, it’s as simple as that.

And while playing against the CPU you're at least earning PXP, so that 30 minutes or so isn't just nothing. As opposed to a frustrating moment where it's just to get some points for the Program, and that's it, no PXP.

I have said this for years. Has there ever been a moment where you actually feel like you are in the “moment” and really recreating it? No, we all tolerate them and slog thru the extreme monotony thrilled it’s complete then it’s rinse and repeat

1 Time...The Year Moments were introduced and we had to create Babe's Called Shot...Only Time a Moment was truly a moment.

I honestly don't mind moments. I would say 75% I get on first try. Maybe another 20% within the next 2 or so tries. 5% take me 3 or more tries. You get to sample the swings of various players I wouldn't have normally had the opportunity to play with. I have a few players in some of my lineups that are there because I liked their swings in Moments or Showdowns.
-
Add me to the list who rather enjoys moments. I did all of the Topps now and Great Race of 98 Moments yesterday. There were a few that were tougher for me but they still did not take me that long.
I also took a shot at the Showdown and frustrated myself by tying the game against the final boss but was unable to push across the winning run. grrrr.

This is such an excellent point and WTG for pointing this out. I have to agree wholeheartedly with you yet with a slight variation in that I’ve picked up on many great pitching windups that have been fun to apply to my created pitcher in rtts.
Fantastic post partner thank you

The flipside is true too. Where you do a moment and think to yourself "I never, ever want to use that guy again".

Very true as well.

Some of you tried to show the silver lining, and that’s great. Trying out swings I suppose could be helpful for some. But I’m going to stand firm in my assessment that they mandate an excessive amount of moments. Over twenty for a single program is at least two times too many.
But thanks for putting a positive spin on things. That’s always necessary and many times it’s helpful. I say this with sincerity.

So…many…moments…
I hope they get more creative with how one might earn points toward a program. This is so incredibly boring…
SDS adds Collect missions and Showdowns.
Users: NOT LIKE THAT!!!!

Good post by you and the silver lining guy. But the can’t find the silver lining as I am never going to use Topps Now guys or 95% of Minthly awards guys, so I don’t care what type of swing they have. It is just tedious work.
But I do love they have showdowns, collections, and conquest, so I guess that’s my program silver lining.
