I think sets and season is still a cool idea in theory, it's practical application has been far less cool.

I don't think sets can work unless they add a ton of new legends (which is unlikely due to the cost). With a limited pool like they have now there is far too much repetition.

What you say it true but you had to know from the beginning that we were going to see rinse and repeat cards with the lack of Legends in the game. Whose idea was it to put Jerry Hairston Jr in the game as a Legend? That is beyond laughable.

You're right, I did expect repeats but this is worse than I thought it would be. Everything is dupes now, only the picture changes.

You are correct again. Good cards in Set 1 then the repeats start showing up as 95's and 97's which is pretty azz backwards.

I really wonder what demographic section of people they are trying to allure with all these new series of cards?

Tween girls who want pictures of "hunky guys".

    So ... Ashley?!?

I think it can but it's based on what is done with the cards series themselves

I don't have an issue with the rise repart of cards that's fine of given a reason to use them. Events should only be for cards that would not normally be used in other modes so getting a Ricky Henderson captain card that is used events makes sense.

I keep saying series affinity programs are needed and can be simple programs for packs and stubs that refresh each season for example.

Give me a reason to use these other cards beyond some pxp mission for TA progress that isn't 2 or 3 games.

The all gold mini season has been my favorite content all year cause I got to use so many cards I otherwise wouldn't. That is what we need more of not just God Saud this and God squad that. Yes give the use of a God squad an option but if we are going with this format give me reason to build teams using the lesser version of a player.

Why does it feel like SDS isn't even excited about this.

Because they know most players have either left or are on the verge of burnout knowing what is coming. 97s are pure filler at this point to unlock collection rewards and coupled with the grind even hardcore players are losing motivation to play. I saw a post on here where numerous year round players are talking about calling it quits and I’m on the fence myself. I’ve grinded and flipped like crazy and just recently acquired all player cards in the game except for the topps now Drew Rasmussen that is still to come and I’m not excited about grinding for additional versions of cards I already have yet again.

Did anyone think the formula was going to change? We going into s4. Previous three seasons same format. Sds must be sending them surveys for next years game.

    Season 4: Fail.

So far, the only Snapshot card with any accompaniment is ... Nolan Ryan?!?

So in the last 2 years, TA4 or the featured program that was essentially TA 4- they were 99s. This year, we get 99s at the jump and then these huge programs with 90 cards and not one would make an end game lineup.

I was a major advocate for TA and it’s still my favorite mode but it honestly feels like SDS knows everyone wants 99s in this program and are deliberately ignoring them. I get it, people will complain one way or the other. But this has been a fairly consistent issue. Nobody wants to grind for cards that are worse than what we already have and this is why sets and seasons doesn’t work. That 99 Kaiju Bryce Harper was a ton of fun. I will never use the 97- why would I want to start over with a lesser card of the same player. Same with every other 97 or below.

I’m popping some 🍿 because when they discuss this on the live stream, it’s gonna get ugly.

I was hoping they’d ramp it up as it’s September. But yeah, they’ve once again proven my optimism unwarranted. I think today’s content will push many people over the edge and into new games. Those of us who are addicted aren’t going anywhere but we won’t be thrilled.

Card art is terrible but forgivable if they released even 1 99 per division but it should really be at least half 99s. Otherwise the cards are useless. Yes, they can do a captain boost but that takes away our ability to choose who we play with or how we want to play.

    I think there's a 50% chance they re-release Set 1 by mistake.

100% agree. At this point the cards need to be 99s to make the grind worth it. Otherwise it makes very little sense to invest time into. Maybe SDS figures you can parallel 97s into 99s but with the current format that doesn’t really work and why would people do that when they have a superior 99 card, often of that very same player, they could easily slot into their lineup that they already either grinded for or spend stubs on. Just really confusing.

If they started at 91-93 diamonds in season 1, 93-95 season 2, and 95-97 in 3 no one would be arguing.

They wanted to push sales early on a full priced game by having 99s day one. Not to mention the others locked behind diamond duos.

I appreciate some of the different cards we’ve got this year but it seems like a missed opportunity overall.

They preached lineup diversity from having multiple seasons, yet a second 99 Nolan Ryan and Ricky Henderson isn’t diversity.

If they wanted lineup diversity, all they had to do was change the swings of guys like Mike Schmidt, Willie Ways, Johnny Bench, Harmon Killebrew etc so that they are not a liability to getting jammed with their swings they have now. Make no mistake it was never about lineup diversity, it was about us spending money on stubs.

So assuming from the White Sox jersey's she is always wearing that she is from the South Side? Maybe a cast member of the show Shameless. Makes sense now.

Yeah it makes no sense. At all.

Almost seems like SDS is trying to alienate the player base.

Fully expect McGwire and Sosa will be 98 overalls to faithfully commemorate the '98 season.
