Getting Benched
-
I had MVP (possible triple crown) numbers won homerun derby played in All-Star game was immediately benched because of base running mistakes after all star break and relegated to pinch hitting duty. Team traded for another 3rd baseman before deadline. I think there should be a way to request a trade if this happens. It’s also completely unrealistic as the team I was on was in its second consecutive 100 loss season no way that would happen in real life. I just think there should be a way to talk to manager, coaching staff, GM, Agent at anytime instead of waiting for manager to talk to you not just have to rot on bench. I was also “bros” with 20 players on the team in real life if the player himself isnot storming in to managers office his teammates certainly are. If it’s possible to fix this in an update I think it would make for much more realistic gameplay. It’s really my only issue with an otherwise great game.

Tbh this would be a cool feature. I'd Love to give my manager a Good talk for some of my bro teammates that aren't starters, or aren't getting what they deserve. The same for myself.

They took out the ability to request a trade about 2-3 years ago. I can't remember the last version that it was in.
I think it was 16

I’m furious! Playing “Road to the Show” and made it to the majors.
Year 1: came up July 24 and led team in HRs, won rookie of the year, took team to playoffs.
Year 2: benched.
I’m here to play the game, NOT BE BENCHED!!
Is there a way to unbench myself? Took a lot of time to play and get where I am and I don’t want to throw it all away. -
It’s just completely unrealistic. If a guys a fringe player or platooning and he makes a boneheaded play yeah he’s gonna sit. But not a starter who is clearly the best option. It’s all about numbers now anyway, most managers wouldn’t even have the authority to do that. Leading league in Homers RBI slugging at break top 5 in avg ops at All-Star break gets 85 ABs in second half. Would never happen

Took a lot of time to play and get where I am and I don’t want to throw it all away.In the 2019 version, my first full year with the Rockies, I won ROY, hit 34 HR's with 100+ RBIs, batted .330. Next year, they traded for a better LF and I was benched as well. It would be nice if SDS realized "hmmm... this guy was ROY, good potential... let's leave him a starter". Seems like simple coding to me, and a basic understanding of MLB in general.
To add insult to injury, my replacement was being paid $6.9m per year, while I was making $1.8. The GM's just aren't very smart...

It was when they introduced the agent garbage that requesting a trade disappeared. I believe they did that in 18

If i remember correctly, whenever your agent contacts you he asks you once every so often if your happy in your current situation. If you play it up he ask if you want to get traded. I swear it worked for me last yr. I haven't started a guy this yr yet. But pretty sure its still in the gm. But I've been wrong before

And you haven't been traded to a last place team? That's usually what happens to me when ever I whine about wanting to be traded.
I can see the scene at your new teams office
MGR "Welcome to the team.We look forward to your contribution.Any questions"

Yes, the "agent" first appeared in MLB The Show 18.

Thanks for the followup all (sorry took so long to see the replies). I "simmed" the season as the CF, played the next season in full.
I did start and new Road to the Show, created myself as a pitcher and play that way, which I am going to admit is much more fun!
However, my current issue is that I am constantly being taken out of the game in the 7th or 8th inning!
I have 1 no hitter, 1 perfect game and was taken out of the lineup after the 8th so I could not even complete my 2nd perfect game (it happened with the closer).
Most recently I was going into the 9th inning with 18 strikeouts, excited to see if I could get to 20 and I was taken out! Another time I hit 20 in the 8th inning, pitching a perfect game again, I was taken out after the 20th strikeout; I still had energy both times.
There needs to be a discussion or an option to talk with the manager before this happens to have it not happen constantly.
What the heck!
Is this team oriented or how the game was made? -

Is this team oriented or how the game was made?Pretty sure this is entirely dependent on your Stamina attribute in a game where you are rolling like that. They let me keep going a good amount but keep a short leash, honestly I wish they'd pull me sooner some times.

I feel you guys big time. I got benched in July, before All Star Game, with triple crown numbers. I got benched for trying to steal. (No one on the team has more than 1 stolen base, except me). July and the team only has 6 stolen bases. There’s almost no clutch hitting, so if I hit a single or a double the likelihood that someone will drive me in is very poor. In fact, every time I do RTTS whatever minor league or major league team I’m on leads the league in runners left on base. (I check the numbers after every game). I got benched, as a result, I now don’t have enough AB’s to qualify for triple crown even though I lead the league in hits. SMH. Was benched for like a month and a half which knocked team out of contention for playoffs.
