Just failed at the first mini boss. I didn't think that was possible.
First pitch I grounded to a double play.

Wouldn't your wife count as your first miniboss? 🙂

Maybe SDS should put up an option to cancel out equipment-boosted attributes.

And why in the world would you want that option? That makes absolutely no sense at all.

If you wanted the equipment's cosmetics but didn't want to use the stats, that makes sense. It'd be good for people who don't like seeing the show on everything.

    I find it silly when...

My pitcher is allowed to hit in the ninth of a shutout, the broadcaster says "After the game he pitched, he earned the right to hit and get the complete game", then after my at-bat, I immediately get lifted for a reliever.

It is completely impossible for any game company to play test as much as hundreds of thousands of users can (unless that game company had hired hundreds of thousands of play testers who didn't do artwork, didn't do programming, all they did was play out every single scenario and its permutations over and over again).

As far as earlier versions playing better now, of course they did, because they had the full cycle of patches.

We're also in an environment where, due to social distancing, it is much harder to coordinate activities. Sure, some people work fully remote and some work part of the time, but it's still harder to accomplish some things in a teleconference than it is in person.

Of course, if you think you can do better, you're free to code up your own baseball game 🙂

I don’t think it’s that easy. There has to be a reason no one else makes mlb games like the show. I get that they are “social distancing”, but don’t say you fixed something that you didn’t. Be transparent with the people spending their hard earned money instead of misleading everyone patch after patch.

Actually there are a lot of baseball games out there, such as Super Mega Baseball. Not all of them have a MLB license though, so they'll change the names of players, etc. But if you're looking for better game play even if it isn't necessarily MLB, give it a try.

In terms of game development, you can buy a license from MLB (which is of course, hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars). So, before you have that kind of cash, you could just focus on developing a bug-free baseball game then once you have sold enough to make money, then get the license 🙂

RE: My agent has forsaken me...

Major League Teams get to cost-control their talent for cheap. It offsets all the costs for all the failed prospects who never make it to the major league level. Since there's a discussion about minor league pay raises, that'll start preventing teams from taking random chances on indie leaguers, tryout winners, etc. If rookies were paid, say, $125 million, they'd just let the underperforming teams develop rookies, then swoop in during free agency once they see who actually sticks.

RE: Remove All Star difficulty from Ranked Seasons

Personally, I'd probably avoid playing many ranked seasons games if it wasn't for all the programs requiring the Online missions. Most of that is just for time reasons. I can usually sit and play in half hour spurts but getting an hour is kinda hard much less playing multiple games in one night. I also know I'm not that good because I get obliterated in Battle Royale.

    RE: Lack of basics

Minor leaguers make more fielding errors, in part, due to bad field conditions.

Also, in the minor leagues, they're more focused on development than roles. So, just like spring training. closers will get work in non-save situations and starters won't always go 5-6 innings. The main task is to get their regular work in, not to "win the game".

Also, hard hit balls are often outs. You only get a base hit about a third of the time if you're lucky 😉

RE: This is a first for me. Got Traded without requesting it.

I got benched for getting picked off a few times, though I didn't actually get benched. Next time I was picked off, I sat a week.. while hitting .400 and leading the league in home runs.

    RE: RTTS Ideas/Suggestions

I don't like that as a switch hitter, I don't have my AVG/SLG/OBP stats. Position player durability is also an issue.

I also don't like as a pitcher batting at the bottom of an inning then immediately being lifted for a new reliever.

I lost a game solely because of four bunts that led to doubles. Guy didn't get a hit off me otherwise.

    RE: Recreating the RTTS backend

Out of the Park (OOTP) had a great older game called Inside The Park that really did a great job with letting you roleplay as a player trying to get into the majors. You had to save up for equipment, develop a training routine schedule to maximize your stats, neat things like that.

That is common. I have the commentary at the end talk bout a 9 out save when the final score was like 12-2. Matt will say a team has lost 8 of their last 10 then someone else talks about how great the team has been. This kind of thing happens all the time.

Pitching the last 3 innings is a save no matter what the score is

A save is pitching the end of a game with the tying run in the hole when you enter the game. Do your homework before coming on here and saying things that are not true.

    A 3 inning save is baseball 101....

He didn't even have the ninth inning definition right because if it was only "tying run in the hole", then a 3 run save in the ninth inning with no one on base and no one out isn't possible.

The closer coming into the game in early innings or in a blowout is happening in MLB games so your explanation is totally wrong for this game. By the way I know about minor league game because i go to them frequently. There is AA team about 45 minute drive from me. the bobbles I see in this game is more what I have seen in little league than minor league professionals.I did not say SP were not going 5 inning what I said was they go 3-8 days between starts instead of the every 5th game. before you respond try reading first.

I've had major league pressbox credentials and lived and gone to multiple minor league games and spring training games, including B games, so my anecdotal knowledge is better than yours 😉

But hey, the closer is the closer because he is the closer. (And you'll earn a brownie point if you recognize the baseball book that's from.)
