Thanks for the tips everyone (and I had tried doing the position player at catcher thing too).
There are separate clutch attributes for batting and pitching.
So when you score some RBIs (or not) as a batter in a clutch play, batting clutch changes.
Give up some runs (or not) as a pitcher, and pitching clutch changes.
