They are basically putting out the same car every year with a tape deck, no electric windows or locks, seat warmers or BT connections, but with a different coat of paint.
That's the problem.
It’s a baseball video game lol
What exactly do you want the game to do differently?
What are you missing?
First of all, you come off as a self-proclaimed authority and gate-keeper of opinions, and condescending to boot.
Second, not everyone is on Reddit, for different reasons (age, format, convenience, etc), and SDS posts on Twitter are rampant with criticism (and uncensored, as opposed to here).
Third, if you enjoy the game, good for you, I'm not dumping on your parade. Also depends on how long you've been playing it (I go back to 989).
As far as content, well I'm sorry, but for the last 3 years (and for some missions, 4+ years) it's always: Program X: Conquest map, Showdown, grind PXP missions, collect cards, grind more PXP from earlier program unlocked cards. And for the last 3 years, if you're late to the party (say a month or 2 after release), some programs have expired, so you can't go back and knock them out.
Now, gameplay: freeze offs have been a thing for years; when they introduced coop, my first thought was "well, that'll be a s*** show". Looks like I was right, and anybody who has been playing online for years saw it coming. MS last year was a mess for about 2-3 months before fixing it, and they brought it back this year with MORE problems.
You have to think not everyone plays the game in one way; so bugs and repetitiveness will affect you differently than others. If you refer to the same jack***es that come here and complain about the same thing every 2 days and keep playing and come back again with even more of the same complaints (like a certain fellow frenchie), then I can agree with you on this.

Sounds like something an SDS dev would say undercover. Long paragraph about how they gift us these programs that take 1.5 hours when all it gives you is useless collection cards and 5 packs that give you commons and silvers with a total of like 2.5k stubs. Same cards too just different colors and names on it
It’s 7-10 cards that can be used in the set collections. Everything is optional and you don’t have to do them. But if you do it eventuales turns into the best cards in the game. I don’t know what more you want.
Even though I know others feel the same since I've seen their posts, I will only speak for myself when saying - Grinding for collection fodder is not fun. At all. When the most common reply to any content release is "well, it's X # of cards for the collection" your content setup sucks.
The sets and seasons setup this year was a bad idea (why would anyone want their cards to expire?), but the real problem was/is high diamonds on day one. It left nowhere to go but sideways with program rewards.
I mean, they could have put in some nice 99s people want, but that doesn't generate enough stub sales like reserving those for expensive packs does.
99s were a great idea off rip, set 1 was the most fun I've had with this game in ages, 99 Griffey 99 Tatis, but I sold everyone by the end because after that it felt like a repetitive slow grind that didn't reward anything. Im dreading set 3 because why? It will be the same grind over and over again like a robot. They add up IF you do them which I do but some people don't have time and they make every pack expensive but don't even give you a valid reason to pull the pack. Headliners guarantee a silver for 7.5 like what? They need to change the gameplan up fast because this game will die out by set 3 or 4. Only people that will be playing day to day is all the twitch steamers that make money and all of that, most casual people will move on to a new game.
I don't know about dying, but I expect there's going to be a pretty large dropoff after set 3 starts and all those set 1s are put out to pasture.
As for me I've done the grind twice now and I don't think I have another in me. Not quite ready yet to call it quits (as I really do hope they have something better in store for season 3), but I have been reading up on Diablo 4 a lot the last couple days.

I feel you, Once the support team gave me the finger after i went 12-0 and never got the rewards i was gonna just dip on the game then i saw 99 judge and as a Yankees fan I had to do my due diligence. As far as set 3. I love the way this game can be played sometimes but the grind is god awful just no benefit from it. They gotta add an X Factor this next set rather than doing everything on repeat.

Want a list of things different?
- Same cards different colors. Same techniques used in every game sinkers in cutters out. Endless grinding by TA.
- Try adding a co-op ranked seasons matchmaking in that is horrid, constant freeze offs in that as well.
- Dropping 99s? That's good ill give them that but you can get 1 99 out of ranked after playing I don't know maybe 300 innings of the game mode.
- Programs? Wow 10 useless cards and 5 useless packs no stubs nothing 1.5k wow so much
- Hitting engine? Very late outside and you'll pull it fair somehow leave it at that.
- Same audio 99 times in a game, everyones memorized the Lindor and jazz Chizzolm grandma lines they couldn't even take time to make multiple combos or even talk about college or literally anything.
In the end you're grinding for 3-6 hours combined on multiple things and you'll never even use them. It's the same thing every year, they don't care because everyone will still buy it as there is no competition in the MLB video game area. Here's an idea how about implementing a ranked/franchise sort of game mode where its an actual season with your friends/random people?(Not custom leagues either that's a waste with no rewards) Maybe a straight player lock RTTS team up? They don't need to because there's no competition so they can rinse repeat and recycle the same programs and everything with different card art and everything.
It would be lights out at SDS w/o the MLB license. Good game but its the same thing year after year. I agree!

this hit the game right on the button. repeat players for 4+ years see the same thing every year with the same issues every year. But they added WBC and said the freeze offs aren’t the issues. they can add different card art and be able to say “We’re good with that” rather than fix issues that should’ve been fixed years ago. They made a separate support thing just for your mini seasons progress being stuck. Rather than fixing it. W company, they have potential every year and find a way to demolish that potential every year. Only reason people actually bought the game was cause jeter, at least that’s why i bought it. I had no intention to do this again after last year.

Im generally the pulse for video games. Im a casual. I admit it . I do buy The Show every year for as long as i can remember . I can tell at this current pace by July I'll probably be just about burnt out on the game and its current grind setup. I'm close to there already honestly. I skipped out doing these past few released offline programs, though did just finish the RS program

They had over a decade of Matt Vasgersian and everyone complained. Maybe don’t complain next time. It’ll take a long time to stockpile enough audio to make up for what they lost. The announcers have actual jobs calling actual games after all and they most certainly aren’t gonna spend thousands of hours in the off season recording lines either.

It’s so weird though because when you go on Reddit or Twitter there’s not as nearly as many complaints as it is on this forum
just take a look at the shows subreddit and it’s just a bunch of people actually discussing the game, content being released, etc etc… and most of it is very positive…
Come here and the first page of the DD forum is just a bunch of people complaining about how bored they are or how “horrible” the game is(when the game has obviously improved greatly from last year, gameplay and content wise)
I think I have a theory why it’s like that- let’s just say I feel like majority of users on this forum are just “out the loop”… in so many words
Funny, but my experience on Reddit has been the complete opposite. To me it seemed like people were able to discuss the game like adults…discussing pros and cons. What I notice more than anything about Reddit is that it doesn’t seem to have a small group of people wanting to defend everything about this game at all costs.
It is also your opinion that the game is “greatly improved from last year, gameplay and content wise”. I agree gameplay is better but in my opinion content has fallen off a cliff and is a big step down from last year and significantly more than ‘21.

Hi Ramone!

Well, baseball IS a frustrating game. When Mike Piazza was in NY, and even when he was the unofficial co-host of 'Eddie Trunk Rocks,' he'd always say it's a frustrating game. I even broke it down to my 25 yr old Niece, that in baseball, you're considered a success with a .300 avg, meaning success 3 out of 10 times. Even HOF worthy players career avg. is in the .300 range.
No one will hit .400.....well, maybe Arraez, that dude is a machine.
SDS will always have no comp, when forums like this may scare away potential contenders.
What more do you want? As I was doing the current MA moments, I said bad words during, but I like Moments. Maybe someone will come up with new ideas, but this is all we have, unless you want to play as David Ortiz in the latest SMBB game.
How must SDS feel? They must say 'Look at these ungrateful bastlds' -

How must SDS feel? They must say 'Look at these ungrateful bastlds'I think what you are saying makes a bit of sense if it were a free product. Such as back when there was the group that updated MVP Rosters every year for free, even though the game hadn't been made for a decade. If people complained about that, I could see that as "ungrateful". This is not a free product though. Why would people embrace the "this is all we have" mentality when it could be argued that in many aspects the game has been declining for years? Isn't that the mentality that would cause a company to not put out the best product they could?

I have to agree. The thought of doing the TA grind another four times is just nauseating. As an offline gamer who enjoys completing all the programs and maps, I appreciate the lengthy content. However, hopefully they shake things up for the upcoming sets to keep it fresh otherwise it will become mind-numbingly monotonous and stale which it apparently already is for some players.

Reddit posts have to be mod approved depending on title criteria. The vast majority of “complaint” threads are removed or moved labeled as “already discussed”. There was a massive thread last week with 100+ upvotes and over 50 comments discussing the games problems. It was locked.

I will leave a positive comment. A quick way to get the TA’s done is through team build. If you utilize the team captains correctly, you can use players from just about any single team and be competitive in RS. I played a guy 2 nights ago who had an absolutely loaded team including Big Jeter. I had cards from the Royals lol……and won. It’s not a bad game. Frustrating?? Yes at times but it’s not bad. I’m also very critical of SDS but the game isn’t bad!
