TA Season 2 is underwhelming

Everyone of them will crack my lineup. Cause I don't need to use the same 25 cards from May till the end of the season.

This game is more than just building one “God Squad to rule them all.” The logic that certain cards aren’t usable only applies to the percentage of people who only play Ranked. There are many of us who like playing all the other aspects of the game- conquests, showdowns, Mini Seasons, BR, Events, events missions etc. I pay my $100 for the game so that I can have a ton of enjoyable content to complete and a diverse set of cards of my favorite players to collect and use. This year far surpasses last by a massive margin.
This company can’t win with anyone. How is a robust program with a ton of content, 90 diamond cards, 3 showdowns, 3 conquests, an entire Mini Seasons attached to it and 6 huge reward paths filled with missions, moments, cards, stubs and XP underwhelming? If all you wanna do is have the best team to play online and don’t enjoy any of the other content or any of the cards that aren’t the top tier- that’s like buying a mansion and only using 1 room.
I think a lot of the discussions around the forums the past few days really show that people approach the game in different ways and I think that is why it is so hard for people to understand different perspectives at times. Here is why I think TA2 could be underwhelming for a big part of the audience. You say it is "more than just building One God Squad to rule them all", but it is just that for many people or variations of that. DD is the premiere online platform of MLB the show. Unless you want to play with a current MLB roster with no variation, it is the only way a person can play online.
'21 was the last time there was TA. The game launched with The 42 Series that were all 88's. Some were big names and some were not, but they worked well to fill out rosters for a decent chunk of the year. TA2 was legends and flashbacks...they were all 93-96 and again they supplemented rosters perfectly. TA3 was All Stars and honestly they broke the game, but were awesome. They were all 97-99 and everyone's favorite players. They took over most lineups, but there were still cards that came after that replaced most of them (other than Trea and DeGrom). Then the final TA was Finest. Every TA arrived with cards that people wanted for "theme teams" or online play...and not just a few cards, a lot of cards.
Again, the game may not be just about the "God Squad", but it is for some. An online player does want to complete collections because what online player would not want Pedro, Chipper, Babe, Randy, Trea, etc. in their lineup? To complete collections a person has to complete programs, but unlike years past the cards that are being obtained through things like TA2 are underwhelming because for a large part of the player base they are only good for completing collections. The cards that arrived this weekend that most online players wanted in their lineup either came through packs or collections rewards.
This really isn't even mentioning that 95% of the grinding required is offline. Sure you get a pxp bonus for online, but you still have to complete conquest, showdown and moments...and an "offline" player doesn't have to spend one second online. I was an "offline" player that has played more "online" through the years. My preference is a balance of "online" and "offline", but this game is majorly weighted towards the "offline" player. You may not see TA2 as underwhelming, but for some who approach the game differently than you, they will.

I am enjoying every aspect.
I play online events and a ton of 9 inning v CPUThanks for the Keith Hernandez so he can rightfully occupy my 3 hole and 1st base in my all Mets squad.

This is how I feel about LS collection as well. Billy Wagner may be the only one I continue to use.
Sosa and Jeter are great.Mark might be the worst 99 I have ever used
Wagner, Sosa, and Jeter are all very good... but with all the buyable 99s this year, they aren't 3 million stubs good.
-
Your going to want them for the big collection when we have one this year, the future stars for instance are going to come in very handy but sure over look them because none of them make your lineup.
-
Dissatisfaction with programs this year is an offshoot of high diamonds from day 1. There's little build up this year and consequently much of our grinding results in collection fodder and/or sidegrades.
-
I look at TA as a ladder. Futures cards are used to feed xp to get Incognito TA card. All the cards are used to feed the collection for the very very usable Gossage , Aaron , Wright and Big unit. The Ortiz is certainlay usable , even though I’ll likely play Ruth or someone else at DH instead.
Pretty simple formula. Showdowns and moments …. Now you have 12 cards to play. Use them on the conquest maps. Now you have 6 incognito cards to go with it. 18 total cards to approach mini seasons with.
^ Look how usable

I am honestly very disappointed by TA S2 this year.Out of 30 cards maybe 3-4 are usable.
Will this be a new model this year?TA is 97s all year long with tier 2 or 3 cards but you have to buy packs for 99s worth using?
TA Season 1 was much better.
I'm between like 55-70% on all the TA's. I have to agree. I have added Loup and Raley to the bullpen and that is pretty much it besides trying Doc and Lance in the rotation. Doc's went horrible. There hasn't been a position player that has excited me yet.
First boss I am less than 2k away from will hands down be Rivera. Might take Utley 2nd but that is like 200k xp away and I am done with most of the conquests.
Not liking the best cards being hid behind a 75k buy with what a 1% chance to get. Mickey really isn't attainable for me. I have 220k stubs and the odds of pulling him are slim to none. Tatis was the same. Just not a fan of this method of releasing players.

This is how I feel as well. I enjoy (most) of the cards to try out in offline play. (freaking Hairston is single machine but i need XBH with Kaiju lol) It adds variety and is interesting to me. Now online, the only card I've gotten so far that I would use is Raley. I am not far into the content though. Id bet that by the time i start completing it there will be a few more that make the online squad.

Program is great don't get me wrong I guess I was just expecting better cards that's all
Ratings don't matter. Skill matters. Some people can take an all Gold team and demolish a team full of Diamonds.

I agree with OP. Compared to all the 99's out there, these TA cards are not as relevant. I went after two (DeGrominator and The Great One), but that is it for now. I am not really a fan of this year's content format.

I get what you’re saying, and I appreciate the way you lay out your argument. We may see it differently but I’m always willing to have a civil discussion about it, especially given the way you wrote this out. Respect.
I haven’t spent too much time looking at all the attributes and yeah, if your goal is to get the best option at every position and just roll with that team online, it would be nice to have a few major pieces in TA2. I imagine the next TA will be that way. For me, I love roster building and using as many players as possible. I also love finding new players I’ve never used and while these 97s may not be the best, they are far from unusable.
Anyway, you’re certainly entitled to how you feel about it. I hope you find some cards you enjoy along the way. Cheers.

The Charisma series had better cards in set 1 than the incognito cards in this new set and the kaiju cards are buns. Don’t get how people thought this set 2 launch was amazing

I think it's the "cause and effect" of their multi-season strategy this year. I understand they are trying to avoid the logjam (and resulting customer indifference and mass exit) of lineups composed of nearly all perfect cards by July. I'm, for sure, one of those.
I've read countless accounts (how true..who knows) that pack sells drop by 80-90% by July 4th and pretty much start dipping incrementally until only the most dedicated niche customer market are still hanging around. Everyone else has just bailed due to the staleness of it all and moved on to some other distraction.
Starting these "new seasons" may, perhaps, keep a few more customers interested. It might keep me around for a bit longer to see how it goes. Hope it works out for them. They are the only game in town, and w/o SDS 'da Show we would have few other options.

Lol dude didn’t say anything about ratings, but your dumb made up arguement is true in the 300s sure. Nobody playing on HOF is hindering their team for your lame forum argument. Most of them REFUSE to play away games and you think they’re going to just enter a game with a goldsquad? What if Raesone looks up there account and sees a L that can’t happen. Sweaty for life.
I don’t think I’ve played a single gold card in ranked in a month where are all the BAMFs at cruising through WS with gold and silvers? Show me one lmfao.

This kids; is why you don't do crack.
I didn't say anything about running Golds or Silvers into Ranked. I commented on the OP's original statement that all the 97s are useless when there are 99s available. They're not useless if someone prefers then over a higher rated card.

I agree with you. And I honestly don't understand how some people have fun just using nothing but the same META cards online all year.
However, the mode is clearly missing something.
Everything you mentioned is nice...but it's all still 3 inning stuff. Or offline. Or both.
I feel like BR is extremely popular, but it's the one mode in DD that doesn't actually USE the card collecting part of the mode.
And that brings me to what is MISSING.
A mode like BR...but 9 innings and with cards you actually OWN.
Call it a Capped mode of whatever you'd like...but something that's not just the META 99s every game when you want to play real baseball (9 innings!) and you also want the roster building strategy that is build into the draft aspect of BR.
I have little interest in playing all these offline modes and grinding my life away. I'm already "over it" for MLB 23.
You want something that adds replay-ability to the mode and makes some of these reward cards actually usable and not just FODDER?
The solution is simple and not difficult to implement.
DD already has an engine to run 3 inning versions of these BR and Events...one with a Draft and one where you build your own lineup with cards you have to own.
Now just give us one that is 9 innings and with some kind of restrictions/cap so not every game is the same old collection of the same 99 META cards.
Sooooooo easy to do...
