Let's put any and all Jeter debates in a trash can. The dude was clutch AF. BTW I am not a Jeter fan by any means.

He can 125 clutch like a bunch of other 96 overall cards 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Regular season Slash lines: .310/.377/.440

    Postseason Slash lines: .308/.374/.465

You only think he was clutch because he was in the Postseason every single year. He was the same player in the Postseason that he was in the regular season.

People get blinded by his star power. I'm not hating on Jeter, I admire him just like the rest of us. But I'm also objective to his actual on the field performance.

For some reason people take any criticism of Jeter or saying anything short of he was one of the best players ever as some sort of insult like people are saying he was trash. He was a consistently really good player with an average at best glove and not much power. I don’t think that’s an insult, it’s just what he was and he did it really well

The Jeter debates always crack me up. @kovz88_MLBTS said it perfectly. He had a 71 career WAR. He was great but not best all time quality. Rolen had the same WAR. Jeter has some insanely clutch moments that will forever be remembered- the Jeter flip, His game winning home run to become Mr November, the 2000 World Series etc. In baseball, winning 5 rings is unheard of in the last 30 years. That doesn’t make a player great necessarily but it does make him a winner. Watch his documentary, he lays it out pretty well. The difference between ARod and Jeter- ARod was the better player but Jeter won.

We live in a Show world where Elvis Andrus has a 99 overall so a 125 Jeter could be justified at this point.

I just want to see a cracked Jeter card to witness the collective meltdown this forum would have when they love seeing buffed future stars or cracked current day player cards.

I don’t think anyone would care, people just want to point out that Jeter isn’t an exciting option outside of Yankees fans. Which is mostly true.

    2/2? 🧐

Time to spark that Jeter hype again!

apparently people don't care for Jeter but there's no denying that I will be pleased with Derek Jeter being in the game... the only person I'd play over him is Francisco Lindor (because Mets fan) unless I like how I perform with a better card as the year goes along and depending on what missions I have to complete.

Jeter in real life was a no doubt first ballot hall of famer. Great player, great leader, great winner, etc. He just wouldn't translate that well to the game. If they are generous his hitting attributes would be Honus Wager but with low 80's defense and low 80's speed. There are so many names that people throw out every year like Jeter, or Manny that if they were in the game most people wouldn't use them.

Stupid theory. Anyone else notice that Jazz Chisolm's face scan looks nothing like Jazz Chisolm? Well, guess who else's face scan has changed and looks almost just like Jazz Chisolm now?? One Albert Pujols. They look almost identical now.....could this be a clue about who is gonna be on the Collector's Edition????? Could King Albert be on the Collector's edition? It would the quickest turnaround ever for a retired player yes, but he did just hit 700... hmm

Derek Jeter being on the cover would actually sell copies of the game. Many.

Bias much? I highly doubt it. People who know this game will play it. The group of new players will will somewhat be similar to any other year.

You don't have to be biased to realize that Derek Jeter is a more recognizable face of baseball who will draw in casuals to check out the game if he is on the cover of the Collector's Edition.

That's not meant to disrespect Robin Yount at all.

Again, I wasn't disrespecting Derek Jeter. But I am surely challenging your claim how having Derek Jeter on the cover would lead to "many" more sales.

My original post is more about speculating whether Jeter might be the cover athlete for the Collector's Edition. I get that from a competitive online player's perspective he is not the sexiest option, but SDS isn't concerned about that because they know that group makes up such a small percent of the player base and is already hooked/not going anywhere no matter how dissatisfied they are with the gameplay. They are looking for new blood and throwing a legend like Jeter on the cover will bring more eyes to the franchise because of his mainstream status.

Jeter was a dominant face of the game during his playing days. He was on the cover of a bunch of videogames too during the N64/PS2 era. Even if someone isn't necessarily a Jeter or Yankees fan, it might just simply bring back some good memories playing a baseball videogame back in the day. Maybe someone who hasn't played one in a while sees Jeter on the cover and just for the sake of nostalgia checks it out because they had so many good times playing All-Star Baseball.

I played The Show religiously from 2006-09 then stopped altogether until my friend showed me a video of Giambi hitting a bomb in The Show which brought back all those Triple Play Baseball memories from the early 2000s. That was the first week of COVID lockdown. Bought a PS4 and The Show 20 soon after that and I've been hooked on this stupid game ever since. 🤣

    Nostalgia is a powerful thing.

I think its Jeter. To announce the other cover athlete 4 days after the basic version seems rushed. Like they are trying to hit that 2/2 date. Instead of just waiting until Monday.
