Don't care one bit about Jeter tbh. His best card should be like a 96 overall, since leadership isn't an attribute in this game.

If Eric Hosmer can get a cracked 99, Jeter probably deserves one: I know he’s not a great defensive player (let the Jeter wars begin), but he was still a first ballot HOFer who won 5 rings.

He would have mediocre defense like you said, and like 80-90 power. But yeah they would bless him like they blessed Joe Torre and Ozzie Smith, who cares about accurate representation anymore am I right?

I agree, the attributes are pretty out of control.

This always has been and always will be one of the worst takes.

This is more of an indictment on the way the game currently plays than anything else. Power reigns supreme on both sides of the ball. Until they can figure out how to program finesse pitchers or premium contact hitters to be as effective as one-dimensional power pitchers/hitters, the only way to maintain some lineup diversity while keeping things competitive is to juice these "lesser" cards with extra pop.

If every card was an accurate representation, literally every DD team would be the same because everyone would be stacking their lineups with the same cards. At least now they give us options to use players that someone else might not like or hit well with.

You just described this game, well done. Joe Torre and Ozzie Smith are an anomaly.

Let's put any and all Jeter debates in a trash can. The dude was clutch AF. BTW I am not a Jeter fan by any means.

He can 125 clutch like a bunch of other 96 overall cards 🤷🏼‍♂️

    The dude was clutch AF.

    Regular season Slash lines: .310/.377/.440

    Postseason Slash lines: .308/.374/.465

You only think he was clutch because he was in the Postseason every single year. He was the same player in the Postseason that he was in the regular season.

People get blinded by his star power. I'm not hating on Jeter, I admire him just like the rest of us. But I'm also objective to his actual on the field performance.

For some reason people take any criticism of Jeter or saying anything short of he was one of the best players ever as some sort of insult like people are saying he was trash. He was a consistently really good player with an average at best glove and not much power. I don’t think that’s an insult, it’s just what he was and he did it really well

The Jeter debates always crack me up. @kovz88_MLBTS said it perfectly. He had a 71 career WAR. He was great but not best all time quality. Rolen had the same WAR. Jeter has some insanely clutch moments that will forever be remembered- the Jeter flip, His game winning home run to become Mr November, the 2000 World Series etc. In baseball, winning 5 rings is unheard of in the last 30 years. That doesn’t make a player great necessarily but it does make him a winner. Watch his documentary, he lays it out pretty well. The difference between ARod and Jeter- ARod was the better player but Jeter won.

We live in a Show world where Elvis Andrus has a 99 overall so a 125 Jeter could be justified at this point.

I just want to see a cracked Jeter card to witness the collective meltdown this forum would have when they love seeing buffed future stars or cracked current day player cards.

I don’t think anyone would care, people just want to point out that Jeter isn’t an exciting option outside of Yankees fans. Which is mostly true.

    2/2? 🧐

Time to spark that Jeter hype again!

apparently people don't care for Jeter but there's no denying that I will be pleased with Derek Jeter being in the game... the only person I'd play over him is Francisco Lindor (because Mets fan) unless I like how I perform with a better card as the year goes along and depending on what missions I have to complete.

Jeter in real life was a no doubt first ballot hall of famer. Great player, great leader, great winner, etc. He just wouldn't translate that well to the game. If they are generous his hitting attributes would be Honus Wager but with low 80's defense and low 80's speed. There are so many names that people throw out every year like Jeter, or Manny that if they were in the game most people wouldn't use them.
