At least Jazz gives all you something to be mad about for the next 2 months lol
I am not upset at all. It just shows SDS doing their usual low effort work again. I can now guarantee there will be a ton of bugs on opening, with lots of server crashes upon launch and all the old glitches from previous editions intact.
Just a pricey roster update with a fresh coat of paint slapped on it.
Working as intended.
That has nothing to do with the cover athlete at all. Jazz is the first CA since Mauer to have any genuine passion for this game(being that he actually regularly plays it). The new legends are going to sell the game for me(nothing to do with how the game plays just burnout). I just think people make the cover athlete out to be way kore of a deal than it is.
That's a pretty bold statement.
That means you don't believe that players like
Adrian Gonzalez
Andrew McCutchen
Miguel Cabrera
Josh Donaldson
Ken Griffey Jr
Aaron Judge
Bryce Harper
Shohei OhtaniAmong others had any real compassion for the game?
The video game. Not baseball
Ah, I stand corrected. Sorry. By "game" I assumed you meant baseball.
We honestly don't know who all does or does not play MLB The Show game.
Incoming Blake Snell 2024

Just goes to further prove my point that SDS doesn’t even watch baseball and picked jazz because he’s a fanboy

Yes we do. SDS tweets out every time they give someone "the real" player cards. most of them aren't players most have heard of

I don't disagree with you about Chisholm loving the game. He crushed me pretty badly the one time I played him, but I instantly recognized the footage they used on the reveal from the summer footage they used when he came to the studio.
Either
EA SportsSDS was very proactive in getting their cover athlete in advance to avoid the predictable "athlete name" was in San Diego today. Is he the cover athlete?"Or, they were super lazy and couldn't get the guy they wanted so the used the existing footage for the game. I am actually leaning towards the first scenario, and I have made my dislike of SDS pretty well known.
But I still expect 23 to be a fresh coat of paint on last years game.

I have played Chisholm once, and Spencer Strider of the Braves is also a confirmed player.

Tatis got me excited.
I actually have the alternate Jackie Robinson, and am happier with him than Tatis, and that was before all the shenanigans he had afterwards.
If he can get his head out of his ahem, you know where, he could really be a force for the Padres when he finally returns, but I can't remember if he will even be eligible to this year.

Possibly, but the reveal "show" was so cringey that I think it was far more embarrassing than choosing Chisholm. Bringing in an NBA player to hype a baseball game? Really? They could have ponied up the money to get at least one MLB player that is an actual player of the show. Heck they could have even used it to set a false flag for the cover athlete.
The feed was running non stop with "nobody cares what this guy has to say" and "just show the stinking cover"
Imagine the scene Blake Snell or Julio Rodriguez is doing the interview instead, and the SDS guy says "so, how do you feel about being on the cover of the game?" and have the athlete goes "great, but it's actually (holds up large posterboard of actual cover).
Far more entertaining than what we got instead.

The stream was awful. No disagreement there.

nothing to gripe about jazz specifically, but a mediocre year and career as of now is kinda tough. that being said im buying mlb not bc whos on the cover but logging in and seeing 250 avg jazz there is gonna be annoying. always enjoyed the "mvp" or atleast a very electric player in a breakout year or something along those lines like a tatis, cutch, etc. kinda like all stars nowadays guess really anyone can become a cover athlete. guess I should find a site to bet david peralta for the special edition series cover
-
I don't really care who's on the cover. That's not why I play the game. I would much rather see a veteran player who's proven to be one of the best but that's just my opinion. It is what it is. I'm sure that I'll get tired of seeing Jazz on everything this year though.

So a guy who played 60 games is the cover athlete? Standards for what I expect on the game are extremely low now.
Come on, He has played 1.25 seasons so far certainly he deserves it more than the likes of Goldy, Freeman, Ramirez, Trout, Scherzer, Verlander, Arenado, etc etc
While there are certainly better choices, I have to imagine there are players who are asked that pass on it. A lot of the more veteran players may not want to go through the hassle of flying out to San Diego and doing photo shoots etc. A younger player may be more likely to do it to build their brand and Im sure there is some kind of payout to do it. It's possible they went through a few players before someone said yes.
If they have an exclusive rights deal with the players union, do they really need a current players permission?
-
This just further demonstrates the disconnect sds has with its fan base.
-
My question is why is his primary position CF?

I had Shelfy on Twitch on my I-Pad and the Facebook group feed on my phone.
Everyone was either whining or cracking jokes about the wait. One guy said he missed his flight watching, lolz -

Technically they may not need their permission but they generally do photo shoots promotional material etc which would require at least a few trips out to the studio. I just think a more veteran player who may not be all that into video games may not be all that interested.

Being IN a video game and being ON a video game are two different things and requires two different rights deals.

the awkward thing to me is he will likely be a gold for most of the year since he put up next to no stats this year and i don't think he is a great player when you put his numbers into game attributes. Of course I expect him to be completely juiced because cover boy but I personally rather wait until future stars to juice a bunch of no names. At this point though why not put someone like Jackson Holliday on the cover. At least then we can get matt holliday back in the game for more fathers day content

If we HAVE to have a Marlin, I'd much rather have...
