Anyone else probably not getting Mantle?

Got home.
Checked I have 3 vouchers for Mantle Had to chuckle.
I'm aiming for Dibble. That's a possibility at least. -

It’s not just collections based cards. I’m not good enough to win BR. I don’t like playing online because of connections and cheese.
Yeh last year u could easily buy players like Rookies and Veterans u get from BR this year not so much
I am strictly offline too
Um, I'm 100% offline and had him with 10 minutes of release (in the middle of a mini season game).
Recommendation for next collection/year: change your approach.

I may be about as far from getting Mantle as anyone who has been playing since day 1.
Lol, you are not in touch with about half of the player base. Think about it, you only see comments and posts from players who won't/haven't earned him. The quiet ones, they are the ones who are already have him in their lineup.
Change your approach to the game. I mean this constructively...

I might be able to get him but I really don’t want to spend all those stubs to get him. He was way more expensive that I expected.

What else is there to spend stubs on? Batting gloves?

Question: I play the game in the way that is most enjoyable to me. Why would I need to change my approach to it?
- I don't enjoy flipping cards, so I don't do it.
- I got tired of the POTM programs so I stopped doing them.
- I don't enjoy online play so I stay away from it.
- I don't get enjoyment chasing hundreds of cards I will never use simply to earn one that I might use, so I skip collections.
The original poster asked a question and I answered honestly. I have not even completed a single division of the live series collection, so me saying that I am about as far away as you can get is not an exaggeration. It was not a complaint. It was just a fact.

I probably won’t even get Rollins.
I’m pretty sure I’ll get Cutch. 3 vouchers away.
I have Brett

Something that I did this year which really helped me bank a good amount of stubs was to make quick progress with the reward path and sell off the program boss/bosses as early as possible. Do the moments and exchanges right out of the gate. I would then buy them back later on right before the program ended. For example, sold off Billy Wagner for 350k as soon as I unlocked him and then was able to pick him up when all of the bosses were 160k a few weeks later. This was the program that also included Chipper and Gehrig. With the profit of that one transaction, I was able to scoop up another boss for "free" essentially and have some stubs leftover.
This method was also super effective with the previous Legends of the Franchise program. I remember selling off Hank Aaron for over 200k and when I repurchased him later on he was around 35k and now you can get him for 10k. Patience definitely pays off with this approach.
As an offline grinder exclusively, it worked well for me playing with this strategy. I understand competitive head-to-head players probably have a different mindset as their goal is usually to insert these boss cards into their lineups as fast as they can to keep a competitive edge since they are usually the best cards available at that given time. That isn't a concern for me so I just flip them immediately to maximize stubs.

It's a collection reward, not an entitlement reward.
It's meant to reward players that have collected all year, not a reward for currently playing the game without collecting the cards.
It doesn't require 20+ million stubs unless you haven't been collecting.
It's a great card, but a great card doesn't make you a great player.
It also isn't a reward for people who have spent RL cash vs people that haven't.
Sorry to be the one that pissed in your Cheerios this morning, but what's the point of criticizing something not meant to be obtainable for everyone?

All the collections I get normally 4-6 weeks later.
I simply ain’t good enough to earn stubs by BR etc
I ain’t got enough time to flip 6 hours a day
I play 1 ranked a day normally and the odd CQ map.
Tbh. Even by playing 8-10 hours a week. I find myself grinding all the time. Barely get to use the team I want to. So I’m having a break this weekend and will use the team I want too
-
Once I decided my favorite 9 were the 9 i am going with I was freed of the grind.
I only grind for cards that are upgrades.
Still my fav CF is rookie K Lofton.
But this Mantle collection is quite a statement for sure.

I will never engage in flipping and such... not something I would like to spend time on

I’ve opened probably 2000 packs. Still don’t have ANY full team live card collections. And people had Randy Johnson day one. And I only sell/exchange duplicates for stubs or xp in programs

I don't play online and I've had no problems at all buying Rookies and Veterans from BR. Just put your buy order in when they're released.

Point made. I was in the wrong.
I barely made a dent in the last POTM program. I kind of want the Alfonso card but not enough to go through the moments with better options available. Online is a huge turn of for me.

For people that have been playing for months and don't have a single collection done, what are you doing with all the stubs you've gotten for free just playing the game? Buying packs hoping to land Trout? I'm a no money spent player and I usually don't play a lot online but had Mantle as soon as he dropped. I haven't opened a pack in like 3 weeks and I'm sitting on 663 packs I've gotten for free. I play ranked just to get to 250 innings and I did BR to get Trout which was easier than I thought it would be BTW and mostly I play mini-seasons to get a bunch of packs and XP. I recommend you buy players instead of packs and play online regardless of whether or not you'll win. This years format rewards playing, not winning.

I have used some to buy cards that I wanted that were either in packs or online rewards. I probably paid a premium for them by buying them quickly. I bought a couple of the All Star and HR packs but no others.
I have played since release. I play offline only. I have done all of the main programs but only up until the last boss pack. I did about half of the Other Programs.
Mostly I have been pretty frugal with my stubs. I have 1.4 million right now. As a Cardinals fan I will be doing the Finest Collection to get Goldschmidt. At current prices that alone will use about a 3rd of my stubs.
What will I do with the rest (roughly 1 million)? I honestly don't know but I know it is not enough to chase Mantle with.

Ok follow up question, have you completed programs? How many players do you need? Genuinely interested. It seems like at this point in the year if you've completed all the programs even only playing offline you should be really close

Not necessarily. Offline programs Only get you so fat when pretty much the entirety of the allstar, breakout, rookie, veteran, and 2nd half collection are BR or event rewards. If one stops at the boss pack and doesn't sell any cards they would only be about halfway close on Future Stars, FOTF, and Jackie. The only collections you are likely to have from entirely offline play with no flipping or buying cards specifically for collections are POTM , most of topps now, and postseason.
The only real way to be close without specifically preparing for it is to have completed every event and BR program. Combine those 2 with flipping and you have people like me who have every single card(and I've flipped a whole lot less than last year, events is a massive stub maker)

I’m not saying I won’t buy him but I’m not in a rush. I’m gonna see what the market does in the next week or so. I’m definitely not trying to buy a Takashi card for almost a million stubs that won’t even touch the field.
